Even at that... You have to use a larger quantity of it compared to poultry manure.
True.
Why stress myself with cattle dung when I can use poultry manure easily.

Sorry about the loss.

Like every other cases of diarrhoea on the farm, it is a clinical sign of coccidiosis. So i use same drugs I use for my birds, Amprolium (any sulfa drugs will work just fine).

Nevertheless, goats and stooling are 5 & 6. So many factors can also trigger diarrhoea in goats such as change of environment, change of food, water, even weather etc. angry

Out of all my goats which I gladly give treats of cabin biscuits, once Goodluck (a bulk) eats it like this (which he loves so much), the next few days will be serious diarrhoea cases, ONLY that particular goat!!!

So pls, try & know your goats & their individual traits. Well, i do know all my goats by names sef... grin.
Okay.
I'm also a poultry farmer. Just wanted to be sure poultry drugs are useable for goats practically.
Thanks.

It's been God all the way and I am very thankful for all I've been through, else, how my testimony go take loud!!! grin

Over to the questions raised.

Well, just dry them up. No b say rain go kill dem grin. Nevertheless, Get them good shelter to prevent frequent occurrence and these may lead to your goats getting sick over time. Well, i do bath my goats once in a rare while.

Hmmm... I never raised sheep but judging from the few years of experience of raising goats and being involve in goat business, THERE IS MONEY IN GOAT FARMING OOOO!!!. You literally can be selling daily, as in daaaaaily. Goat business is a saver any day any time. Sheep (Ram) is occasional and seasonal.

Well, must have been due to inexperienced me. Trust me (& by God's grace), NO GOAT DIES ON MY WATCH EXCEPT THE GOAT NA OGBANJE. On a serious note, with the few years of experience and interaction with well qualified goat farmers over the years, i have been able to bring down mortality rates on my farm even further. Na still God las las cool

5. DO NOT DO PROXY FARMING OOOOO!!! STAY WITH YOUR GOATS. Don't put it in care of anybody. Hmmmm.... If it is your business, MAKE IT YOUR BUSINESS BIKO.

6. Above all, over the years, i have come to realise the importance of prayers to a farmer. Believe steadfastly in whatever you believe in. For me, it's Christ all the way. Farmers dey prayerful Oooo!
Been a silent reader from the onset. Thanks for the invaluable information you have been dishing out freely.
I lost a goat to diarrhea last year.
Please what treatment do you administer for severe diarrhea?

Good day Farmerakinloye6, I want to start cucumber farming I have already done the land preparation and added manure (cow dunk) I'd like to ask what variety is better to grow in ABK
Cattle dung is not very appropriate for vegetables. It's lower in plant nutritive requirements and introduces a lot of weeds to the farm through the undigested seeds of weeds they consume. Fold up your sleeves because the weeding will be heavy.

Modified:
The best way to use cow dung is after proper composting with nutrient-rich materials (leguminous leaves, feathers, etc.) The heat from composting may cook some of the weed seeds.

great farmers in the house, has anyone ever experimented with using NPK 15:15:15 as a foliar fertilizer?
I mean dissolving the usual NPK 15:15:15 granular fertilizer in water, then use the solvent as foliarhuh
Not all components of NPK 15:15:15 will be absorbed through the leaves. You end up wasting the fertilizer while exposing your crops to leaf burn and disease attack. The remnants on the leaves will serve as breeding ground (infection court) for proliferation of fungal and bacterial diseases.

Good evening my fellow farmers my plants are in their 7th week are they smaller when compared with their age, if they are smaller what can I do to increase their sizes, meanwhile I use 2kg of potassium for 3000ltrs of water twice a week
Be careful of the volume and type of potassium you supply twice weekly so you don't greatly alter the pH of your soil. If excess, the effects may become problematic with subsequent batches.

In my opinion, drenching the plants and fruits with a fungicide combination of copper + mancozeb will contain it. You can alternate with bluesnow or five star fungicides. Remember to spray regularly.

For prevention, avoid handling your crops during the cooler part of the day (morning and late evening). You can transmit the disease rapidly when you handle the wet leaves.

Correct me please. Isn't a rice field supposed to be waterlogged?
Waterlogged for lowland varieties - yes but you'll need earthened gates at strategic locations and ridges around the land to control water inlets and outlets.

They look good sir. Not quite clear but it appears you planted on double rows. If so it's not the best for proper management: spraying, weeding, staking, picking, disease check, etc. Single row is just ok.
Used double row because I envisaged temporary drought (rains started early this year) between when I transplanted and June. The raised flat bed helps to retain moisture and nutrient with minimal irrigation time (use 1 litre of fuel per wetting).
I will revert to single rows for the next batch because rains will be stabilized by then.

Thanks for the comment.

Your transplanting may not be rightly done or the seedlings were immature for transplant. I had rains while transplanting and this aided in overcoming transplant shock.

Hello Boss.
Please what's your thought on cucumber cultivation between now and March 2023 considering the unpredictable upcoming elections?

Is it a wise plan to cultivate cukes considering the economic instability (could affect markets if there are conflicts) accompanying election periods?

Be sure to stay away from Ogun-Osun river banks because of annual flooding. If you can, take a trip down to Igan-gan after Mokoloki to enquire for land close to a stream (not the river).

Thanks. Which variety do you recommend?
I've seen records of good performance with Cobra from Technisem. Other good varieties are Platinum and Padma.

In all, also try manage your nursery practices so that you have healthy seedlings because many field errors and diseases arise from poor nursery management.

No. How do you solve them?
Plant selected varieties that have some form of resistance to wilt.

Apply nematicidal treatment.

Plan your farm and land preparation to ensure proper drainage and aeration.

Get your nursery soil preparation right.

Ensure your soil pH is okay.

These are the few I can recall. Our Bosses in can add more.

Do you know why a mature tomato plant will just wilt and die? I've never been successful with tomatoes for this reason.
Verticulum, fusarium, bacterial wilt or nematodes may be the culprit.

Did you uproot and inspect the root of affected plants?
AgricultureRe: How To Calculate The Bags Of Feed Needed To Raise 100 Christmas Broilers. by REUBEN010(m): 8:54am On Sep 02, 2022
Feed requirement and conversion depends on many factors. The younger the bird, the more efficient they are with feed conversion to body weight.
A properly managed broiler chicken will require 3.5 - 3.8kg of premium quality pelletized feed to attain 2kg body weight in 5weeks.
The longer you keep the birds, the less efficient they are with feed conversion and the more feed they consume. So, it is less economical to keep your chicken beyond 2.5kg if your intend selling to cold room operators.

@OP: Your calculation of double feed requirement for their weight across all ages is flawed.

Grade 1 as recommended.
For storage.
Looking at 20 depending on the current price.
I would prefer to buy when tye price is low.
It will be more economical to buy volume enough to justify hiring a logistics bus direct to Abuja. You may need to collaborate with another large buyer to achieve this.

I'll start making moves towards purchase starting February. Grade 1 is always scarce compared to grade 2 and 3. The earlier one books for them, the better.

I remember the last time I sent a message on WhatsApp, I was told I needed to pay 2k to join the group. I was ready to pay but was told to call a number, but when I called, the way the person responded was not nice at all.
What volume?
What grade?
Is it for storage or immediate sale?
When do you need it?

Please when is the best time to buy palm oil and which state has the best palm oil?
There is no definite time to start buying palm oil if for storage. Buying can commence February, March, April. You just have to monitor the price.

Palm oil quality is not State dependent. The milling process and grade is what determines the quality of palm oil. For storage, grade 1 is best recommended because of its long shelf life. You need to patronize a trusted and reliable vendor that will be honest enough to sell you not mixed grade but pure grade1.

We buy our grade1 palm oil from Akwa Ibom State direct from the mill.
