Health › Re: Family Donates Funds Nigerians Raised To Save Their Daughter's Life To Charity by Rhayour: 1:33pm On Dec 04, 2016 |
ObiOmaMu: After several months of sourcing for funds for the survival of their child, the Sam family has lost 13month-old Michelle Sam to Symptomatic Heart Disease.
Michelle was suffering from several heart conditions that lay undetected until she fell sick and was diagnosed of Symptomatic Heart Disease last April.
Later on, the family cried out for help of N6m from the general public for a heart surgery in India. Luckily for them, they met the target and preparation started for the family to fly out the little girl out of the country to begin her treatment.
However, the family was told the chances of Michelle surviving the surgery is very slim. This prompted the father to channel his search to several American hospitals.
But unfortunately, the surgery could cost them from 30 to 40million Naira as against the initial cost of 6million in India.
In preparation for the America surgery, the family have to travel to Ghana to rerun some test before setting off to America for her treatment.
The consultants however, cut short their plans when, they were told, the hospital waiting list is too long for her to have the procedure in time, so her parents put all their efforts into raising money for a private operation to save their daughter’s life at the National Hospital in Abuja.
The mother said she knows other patients have been waiting a year for treatment, but Michelle can’t wait that long.
Mrs Sam said her baby was always in and out of hospital and was prone to a lot of infections.
She also disclosed that the pressure was already tough on the family, who desperately did not want to lose their daughter.
She said: ‘I have collapsed two times in hospital because of the stress, and have had to have counselling to help me deal with things. My husband had to be strong for the family and continue working as I’ve been off work for the last couple of months, looking after Michelle. ‘All I wanted was to help my baby, more than anything else in this world.’ Fast forward to November 15, the surgery was successfully carried out in Hospital for Humanity in Abuja by league of American doctors who were concerned about Michelle health and flew down to Nigeria for the surgery.
The joy of seeing their child recuperating was cut short on November 28, when 13 months old Michelle couldn’t bear the pain any longer and succumbed to death.
However, the left over proceeds from the donations from well meaning Nigerians has been used to set up a foundation in the name of Michelle Sam to help others going through the same predicament overcome it at early stage.
The family had also donated massively for another patient suffering from Heart surgery in Abuja few days after losing their own daughter.
Symptomatic Heart Disease is a birth defect of the heart in which there are holes between chambers of the heart, and the valves that control the flow of blood between these chambers may not be formed correctly.
This means that blood flows where it normally should not be able to, and extra blood flows to the lungs.
May God rest Michelle’s soul.

Tunchi101: Call me amebo, I don't care cause I'm still going to share! I can only hope lalasticlala helps me share this too . On that very faithful Wednesday morning, I was all dressed up with the fury of a dragon heading to Ecobank to close down my account. This was because every time I checked my account balance, noting less than 10naira was deducted and I was checking my account balance frequently that day on my phone hoping that Ecobank would have returned the 20,000 they removed from my account and have not returned it up to this point. . I sha got to the bank around 9 o'clock AM and I was in that banking hall till 1 o'clock pm because of the mammoth crowd and the tortoise attendance speed by the bankers. . After I withdrew my remaining money from that bank, I headed to the bank I wanted to open my new account with. On my way there( in that same vicinity), all of a sudden, I just saw one responsible and fresh woman grab a young man shouting ' e no go better for you', ' I must to collect my money here today o or somebody would not go home'. I died 7 times consecutively when the woman said ' GIVE ME MY 20 NAIRA CHANGE O' (Economy Things) . I just nodded my head in pity. . I then entered the bank where I wanted to open my new account. I was filling my new account form when a young lady came to meet the customer representative that was attending to me. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, this lady stepped on my feet; I then looked up to her expecting an apology. I wasn't that surprised when she didn't even utter a word because of the look she gave everyone in that bank ( the kindda look that would make you feel like you've got to make it up to her standards in no time). The next thing this lady said to the customer rep was and I quote 'Excuss sa, I won open an accountant in diss place'. I couldn't hold my laughter! . I was still filling that form when a young fresh guy with a school bag came to meet the bank official that was sitting next to the one attending to me. Here was how their conversation went. . Fresh Guy: I tried withdrawing 5million with my withdrawal slip but the woman said there was something wrong with my account. She said I should come up here.
Banker: Alright, can I have your account number.
Fresh Guy: 569669769696956995666665
All of a sudden, the look on that bank official face change; the Fresh Guy noticed the look and started running like someone who had became instantaneously mad! I still wasn't sure what was going on.
Banker: Hello, this is ABCDEF Bank, we just received a fraud alert of 50million naira from one of our customers account and the customer is on the run. Please send some officers down here . The fresh guy by some miracle got out of the banking hall, he even got out of the bank itself even with the 2 so called security men there. . Unknowingly to him, he was being followed by one of the bank officials. The fresh guy took a bike; the bank official did the same. I don't know how but the fresh guy later realized he was being followed. . Cutting the long story short, the fresh guy was apprehended by the bank official even after stabbing the bank official. The fresh guy was later brought in to the custody of the bank and was water handed over to the police. . . Honestly, that day was like an action film I never watched! . Let me also use this opportunity to beg Ecobank to please refund the money they took from my account (4051025262) I've already mailed and called you guys like a thousand times!. Please the money is not mine and I'm too young to spend some nights in a police den. I'm sorry for banking with you guys. I won't make the mistake again! Ah...u sure say na ENGcontactcentre@ecobank.com u were sending your mails to. cos wen me i send i do receive feedback o |

broseme: Gov Fayose left the venue of a meeting he was having with Ekiti lawmakers at the government house arcade and went to Fajuyi where he inspected some portion of the ongoing flyover. He also had a measurement of a truck on the express leading to Christ School.
The construction workers hailed and sang for him, the song impressed him and he sorted them in cash as usual. As he continued trekking towards the government house gate, he asked "where are the vehicles"? They went to make U-Turn, replied one of the aides.
At that point he was already in front of the Okada junction, the Okada riders were hailing him already, so he called on one of them, "Oya come, carry me to the government house", the guy obliged and he zoomed off to the government house.

Swagahyk: I have been using this bank for years from the days if Oceanic Bank till the present Ecobank. Seriously i have never smiled transacting with them. At Rumuokoro, portharcourt, we will stand on queue inside the bank from 11am to 5pm just to withdraw from the counter (..don't ask about my ATM card...things happened ), there u will see different characters, the crying customers, the wailers, even the ones threatening to beat up a staff if they end up not been paid after spending the whole day trying to get their money. Back at Choba ( Uniport branch) i have to submit my booklet at the counter as early as 9am, go to lecture, come back around 12 or 1pm just to be number 5 to get paid (..maybe those people been paid since morning submitted theirs the previous day...LOL). Things got a little better when i got my ATM card and Mobile app. Aa a participant of MMM, whenever am matched to pay someone, i have to do that as early as 6am so the recipient will receive the money/alert before 6am the next morning, contact the bank they will tell you they are waiting for authorization,(... i wonder what that means so frustrating). I don't bother trying ATM transfers, because the last 3 times i tried, i had to go to the nearest branch to fill that annoying form (...i was debited, but my recipient didn't receive any fund). Currently my Ecobank mobile app is a joke, even if i transfer N2000, i cant do any again for that day, telling me that I've exceeded my daily transfer limit (...like seriously?? N2000 only). i had to call customer care line just for them to tell me i can do transfer ONLY ONCE in a whole day( what a bank...that's pathetic) as at the time am typing this, Ecobank is owning me N22500 ( N12500 they debited on Tuesday promise to reverse it after 3 working days and N10000 they debited today.( i pray they pay me back before next year) People are suggesting i open account with Akwa Savings or any Mcrofinance Bank, they are more reliable than Ecobank. So am wondering if am the only one going/has gone through this Ecobank shit. (...Pan African bank indeed) Wow...I cant imagine you alone going through all of these. Why not send a mail to them with your account number and telephone number via ENGcontactcentre@ecobank.com or chat with them on their WhatsApp 0808 760 3717. The WhatsApp is only available on weekdays though. |

That bank is liquidating my share proceeds.
I get like N90 from my share monthly while EcoBank charges N100 monthly on my savings account. #Negodu? Am permanently indebted to them. I can say boldly, I have an account with Ecobank and they do not charge N100 monthly on my savings account. |

All you have to do is to call them and get your problem resolved instantly. Seriously forget the general banking issues in Nigeria. I give it to Ecobank anytime any day. emmalezy: This beautiful young doctor identified as Dr. Nneoma Uhuegbu died in a fatal accident around Umuikaa on her way to Umuahia from Aba last night. She was on her way to Umuahia to collect her induction gown as a fresh medical doctor. Her induction is on the 28 at ABSU. According to reports, 12 passengers and driver involved in the accident survived except for her. This is so sad! May her soul rest in peace. Amen! Below is what her friend Ogbonnaya Bonky Chibuzor wrote on Facebook:
"The audacity of death. The reckless, arrogant enemy of humanity has struck again. On this occasion, its wicked hands did us an irreparable damage which is permanent. It has snatched away a humble, brilliant, amiable, creative and hard-working doctor from us, in a rude and shocking manner. Nneoma has spent 8 years of her life studying medicine & surgery. Their induction into the medical body was scheduled to hold this Thursday 28 July. What a loss!!!.. What happens to the project I wanted you to be part of? what of the lives you planned to save as a medical doctor should we forget about it? No!!!! Hey, I am dreaming, some one should tell me am hallucinating. We are all aware of death’s recklessness, yet we raise our heads with pride, as the faithful children of God Almighty, who believe in His holiness, the resurrection of Jesus and His superior power over all mundane activities and interests of this wicked world. God has allowed in His wisdom, what his power can avoid. We love you Dr Nneoma.... The Lord grant your family and colleagues the fortitude to bear this great loss. I will see you in Heaven, RIP Nneoma."

talktrue1: Last week, I was at Enugu for a wedding and wanted to buy something worth of N65,000 from market. I went to use my Ecobank ATM card on Union Bank ATM along Ziks Avenue. I withdrew N20,000 three times i.e. N60,000 and put it in my bag. On getting to the seller, I removed N5,000 from my wallet and added to the money I withdrew from ATM. After counting the money twice in my presence, he said that the money is N62,000. I counted it back myself and it was short of N3,000. I searched my bag again and nothing was left inside
I was sure of the N5,000 from my wallet, and so definitely the shortage was from the ATM. Having withdrawn three times and having a shortage of N3,000, It therefore means that I was paid N19,000 on every N20,000 withdrawn.
I couldn’t go back to the bank for complaint since it was ATM transaction and I have never experienced such.
Na so I lost N3k for this hardship And u come keep quiet, something wey u for don send mail to ENGcontactcentre@ecobank.com No matter what dem go investigate am. |
