I didn't inform the school before I left because I had no time, I sent my mum to the school and they told her some ridiculous stuff that I had to collect relief letters before I had left and I have to now write jamb again after keeping a 3pt gp not owing fees and paying all dues, what do I need jamb for in Canada, I just need to transfer my GP from one school to another. Is it legality for a school to withhold your transcript. I am not only irritated but completely annoyed by what's going on. Any experiences or advice will be appreciated.

I sincerely doubt anything can be done, because you ought to have informed the school before you left or something, because now it looks lik you droped out, yu didnt graduate or finsh, but ds new unaab vc is not really a serious person but your mum can try talkn to some senate pple sha, all the best

Abeg nairalanders wey dey do research based masters with full funding, make dem talk their average received fund per year. They should not be specific though, even if it is their case, they can say "i know a guy/girl in so and so school doing MAsc receiving an average of $XX funding per year + TA".
Pls make nobody talk V.O matter ooo, the person fit do the TRV package well and show over-enough funds from family sponsors and 1001 proofs to complement it. We are referring to a situation where he is already in canada.

First of all, when you say full funding what exactly do you mean, you dont really need to stress research based masters, fundn can come any kind of masters, it depends.

From what i know most full fundng in quote still expect you to pay tuition, even if it would be reduced, you might need to arrange ur tuition before leaving naija, d funding will come as stipends monthly or so, it depends on you to use to it to replace your tuition this means you wont touch it and keep it, (i wonda how you will survive tho) or use it as living expenses cos you need to pay rent and bills, you would need to calculate your living expenses to know you will spend your money, average received fund depends on the school.

Some coursed based masters in manitoba requires you to have a supervisor while some research based dont, so it dpends, its not general rule, it varies

Physical visit to manitoba geography department, hmmm d way i kno d system here most of them dont accept referal or physcical documents on behalf of sumone, they mostly ask you tell the person to mail them personally, advisor student rlshp is based on long time built rapour, but wat exactly do you want to find out

I would strongly suggest if they dont reply mails call them, leave voice mails or rephrase your mail to get them intrested to make them reply. But to the best of my knowledge geography nd env grad secretary alwys replies inquiries, the supervisor are nice too so kip trying, be sure you are mailing an advisor with same research intrest if not they might not respond

Take a bigger step to put a call through, i dont tink anybody can talk to an advisor on your behalf, they dont evn do hardcopy document review in grad admission evrytn by email evn if its for you.

1. Graduate assistants jobs can be gotten with the help of your supervisor or dpends on the graduate school office its best you contact which ever school yu av in mind. The issue can be discussed before or after admission offer.

2. Yes most awards are given after admission, some are given alongside admission, some you might need to apply for b4 admission, some your supervisor needs to nominate for, it varies

3. Nd some awards are stated on your admission letter,like entrance awards, for others another letter is issued stating funding type and amount

4. I believe its best to stil show prove of funds for visa purposes evn if yu have funding.

CGPA is not the sole criterion considered by graduate admission committees. Other factors includes your research proposal, previous experience, availability of supervisor in your research area and even availability of funds.
If you have a first class and proposes a graduate research in an area that the faculty does not have professor(s) to supervise your research, you will not likely be offered any admission.
Some universities in Canada as a policy limit the # of graduate students they admit to the # they (the uni) can fund. So even if you have a very good grade (from Canadian standard), you may not be admitted unless you indicate in your application that you have personal funds to fully cover your studies.
The chances of getting admitted with a 2:2 is difficult but very possible with a well-crafted research proposal, work experience and a supervisor interested in your area of research. The UOttawa law faculty had in the past and even currently admitted Nigerian students who graduated with 2:2.
When schools in Canada deny you masters admission, they don't tell you the exact reseaon (unless u specifically ask), and don't presume it's because of your grade. LM

Well i dont agree with your last paragraph

As for indicating ability to finance oneself b4 applying, i kno schools who offer you admission and then tell you no funding or your supervisor contacts you to ask about your funding situation, i dont tink its about indicating your financial standing, you might sell yourself short of good financial aid if you announce you can finance yours because you are scared of lack of admission if you have a good grade.

This issue is been dragged for too long, yes other things are considered during admission qualifications, but cgpa is stil very important, admission selection is a competitive pool and they have ratings and other people to choose from, your cgpa might be good but you dont kno the cgpa of the other applicants.

Having a supervisor interested in yu and willing to fight for you during admission selection is a good plus

This issue of your transcript, to the best of my knowledge most university dont issue transcript to individual except for official purposes, they can send official transcript to as many schools that you want, you just have to keep applying and put the school address.

If you really want a copy of your transcript by hand send to an organisation in nigeria you know someone there so you can intercept it, that way you have your own copy you can upload for applications.

Another alternative is you get your statement of result from your school, that they issue to individuals, it shows grades and marksheet, it can serve the same purpose.
