delightful1: Houseflies, mosquitoes, wall gecko.... These three are a torment to me. I hateeee em'. The sight of a wall gecko makes me so restless. I hate houseflies more than i hate mosquitoes.
As in eh? A gecko landed on my back when I was 13 while cleaning out cobwebs I couldn't even straighten my back cos I couldn't imagine it touching other parts of me....slithering down..I just start to dey weep. My younger sis saw iron man weeping and saw the gecko n took care of it. Even then I couldn't look at the dead gecko. Probably one of my worst memories. embarassed

collynzo2: Come back and help effect the changes, posting pictures will not solve anything. How will Nigeria get better if the default solution on most people's mind is to run away from the country? The founding fathers of US and UK toiled to mark their countries what they are today. They didn't build their countries by running away to other nations.
I kinda expected western to do the exact opposite for most. Impart in them faith in their "superior education" to want to make a difference, since as most say our educational system has failed and we the products of it. But no. Most want the sandwich ready, nobody wants to make them piece by piece. People bled for the countries they are enjoying, but somehow they think we require less to get there? At least not their own blood should be shed. If your parents slaved in this country to get you to where u are, it should make a little harder to rain down insults on it. Frankly, like I said before I don't know how seriously u were pissed before @ OP but 'mine is better than yours mentality is truly juvenile.' I'm sure you're a lot nicer than you made yourself out to be. I don't mean to offend because I can see you have got a lot in your arsenal lol and I.no get power for insult...but gurl this wasn't it

@OP. Since your post is a REACTION I can't really judge you. Dunno if id do same. However, the sheer arrogance of your post makes you more Nigerian than you know. I'm honestly glad you've got it made but your post proves YOU CAN GET OUT OF NIGERIA, BUT YOU DONT SEEM TO HAVE GOTTEN NIGERIA OUT OF YOU. It's easy to critique our country, sadly we've enough of that. Can you prefer solutions miss?

londoner: To be honest, Nigeria does not treat most of its citizens well, so often people find a better sense of appreciation and dignity elsewhere.

I dont think anyone would deny that. I am proud of being a Nigerian Brit, but I my experience of Nigerians has overall been a positive one.....that is why. There are times I have experienced kindness and good samaritans in Nigeria.

Even when i experienced unecessary rudeness from a lady at Abuja airport, my reaction to her changed her whole attitude.Nigeria is a rough place and promotes roughness in its people.....that needs to change for humanity and manners to thrive, and in some places it already does.

I cant relly blame people like the OP for their outbursts, but for me, I still see some good potential in Nigeria and none of us were in foreign countries, before they became the civilised places we enjoy today.

We are enjoying countries after others have already done the suffering they bore the frustrations. In that sense we are actually fortunate and I think diasporans should always remember that.

My intention is to have some meaningful relationship with Nigeria, but I dont think i ca live there full time, beacuse I have grown accustomed to many things in the Uk, Us and now Australia.

There are still things about Nigeria I love though....especially Abuja. many places I would like to visit, like Enugu with a view to putting down some roots.

I think its time those of us who have learned a better way of doing things should actually have the chance to impart some of it to Nigeria.....to make a difference and show an improved way.

Religion / Re: Why Believers Should Speak In Tongues by rhowly(m): 6:23pm On Aug 25, 2013
striktlymi:

Good evening,

I don't believe that I atributed the comment about 'tongues taking one to heaven' to you. It's meant to show that it is not important for every Christian. And the comment that every Christian should speak in tongues is not correct. The spirit gives the gift of tongues to whomever he wills and this gift is not given to everyone.

And frankly I am of the opinion that some people who claim to have the gift of tongues do not have it.

Thank you!
I agree completely. If u read 1Cor 14:5 Paul admits that not every Christian in Corinthian church could speak in tongues. If Paul would meet random men Acts 19 and pray they receive the Holy Spirit then it's safe to assume everyone in churches he pastored had the Holy Spirit's baptism, YET SOME DINT SPEAK IN TONGUES. But alas most christians dont read between the lines. The forget the power that God promised via baptism of the Spirit and make a lot of noise bout tongues. I truly doubt the baptism some christians claim...cos often I see no evidence of POWER. NONE

Sorry oo if my post offended you...

Its just that you silenced the voice of reasoning in you when you observed the abnormalities at COZA and tried to justify it by alluring it to Solomon.

I only showed you that Solomon's opulence led to his downfall. Remember that becos of Solomon the kingdom of Israel had to be divided with the house of David governing just two tribes.

Anyway I'm on the verge of Atheism though, not interested in the biblical God nor his thiefing pastors
.
Now I get where you coming from. But just cos I have other facts which give me a less biased or more complete view albeit different from yours doesn't mean I silenced the voice of reason. Cos if I judged COZAs appearance which in no way compares with the temple Solomon built then I judge Solomon, even though he pleased God. But Solomons opulence was the reason for his downfall...wisdom ironically was Ecc 2:1-11 esp 8&10. But id like private convo if u don't mind. Just wanna share y I believe in God. If ure interested

It's a sad thing when people can't "admonish" without insulting the intended. Well I forgive u. Don't forget Mister that God was pleased with the temple Solomon built. You might wanna look it up, read my post and then try to see the implicit not just explicit intended purpose

Seconded! That church is "out of this world". O'boy! See their ushers on mini skirts, hugging you tight as they welcome you....including the guys. I fear o.
I have attended COZA too on several occasions. Can't remember hugging by ushers o or mini skirts. Well u have attended longer. Sure COZA is glamorous n visually appealing but I often curb that critical voice by remembering that if we gotta offer to God then we must give him our best. Remember Solomon's temple?

Honest words now. When was the last time you shared the good news with a total stranger? I don't mean your church evangelism or when a believing friend asks you to escort him. No, i'm talking about you getting up, walking down the street, in a bus preaching to a stranger. HOW LONG AGO WAS THAT?

I cant find where Christ said anyone should make a "Bible." Yet the Catholic Church compiled and made it in the fourth century.

Is that also a man-made tradition we should do away with?
. I won't argue with you. But even if the bible said so....u would still make your own doctrine despite it. So it doesn't matter if it did or didn't. Which is where ud like me to go
Religion / Re: On The Most Blessed Virgin Mary- Teachings Of The Early Church Fathers- by rhowly(m): 8:26pm On Aug 15, 2013
As a former devout catholic I would know. If only catholics could admit some of their doctrines were man-made and other denominations or faiths could see and realize that catholics are aware that most of their ways of worship are not based strictly on bible teachings but nonetheless hold on tenaciously to them all these arguments would cease. People often win arguments but not people. These arguments hinge greatly on PRIDE. One party trying to prove d other baseless and the other trying to erect structures midair but silently saying your victory during this argument is all u take home. *sighs* undecided
Religion / Re: Pastor Adeboye Under-fire For 3km Auditorium by rhowly(m): 2:15pm On Aug 13, 2013
We always seem to be quick to respond. The most important question to ask is if Jesus would do same. An overview of his life and the choices he made especially concerning money. Yes look in between the red and black letters. Build if you must but it doesn't make the church any stronger by no spiritual degree. Most amusing is that the early church worshipped in catacombs and people's home and that the strongest the church has ever been since its inauguration. Food for thought

Personally a sucker for good conversation in movies and i find that old movies are a touch better. Here's one from a movie done in the 50s.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS feat Charlton Heston (two time academy award winner). Conversation takes place in the midian desert between Moses and Zipporah (his future wife)

Zipporah: which of my sisters did you choose?
Moses: I made no choice Zipporah
Zipporah: She was very beautiful, this woman of Egypt who left her scar upon your heart.
Her skin was as white as curd
Her eyes as green as the cedars of lebanon
Her lips tamarisk honey
Like the breast of a dove her arms were soft and the wine of desire was in her veins

Moses: Yes, she was very beautiful as a jewel

Zipporah: A jewel has brilliant fire but gives no warmth
Our hands are not so soft but they can serve
Our bodies not so white but they are strong
Our lips are not perfumed but they speak the truth
LOVE IS NOT AN ART TO US, ITS LIFE TO US
We are not dressed in gold and fine linen, STRENGTH AND HONOR ARE OUR CLOTHING
Our tents are not the column talls of Egypt but our children play happily before them
We can offer you little but we offer all we have

Moses: I have not little Zipporah, i have nothing

Zipporah: NOTHING FROM SOME IS MORE THAN GOLD FROM OTHERS
Moses: You would fill the emptiness in my heart?

Zipporah: I could not fill all of it Moses but i shall not be jealous of a memory...

*Moses slowly takes her right hand and wraps a wedding cord round her wrist*
Absolutely breathtaking five minutes.

But I think it'd be an immense loss to miss out on a cool individual just cos you're proud or got self-esteem issues. then again some guys just hate that stuff. been asked out twice; one went well for a while, the other I respectfully declined

I left the Catholic church. Never regretted. I learned that the greatest command in d bible being "love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, strength, soul" etc also means wherever there is more of God that's where I should be. cos my hunger should have me wanting more. So stop making it look like its a cardinal to leave one place to another. After all Christianity sprung from Judaism. Pls go wherever teaches u about God the most and more importantly,OFFER NO APOLOGIES
