Technology Market / Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by rhymz(m): 7:26am On May 16, 2020
My Tec Junior for instance last at exactly what is stated in the Datasheet....

Yesterday for instance, I added two litres and only turned on 3 fans, and my laptop only.....It lasted for 4hrs55min

This tallies with the specification on the data sheet for Tec Junior.
8.5L Full Tank with Full Load runs for 10hrs 30min = per litre 2hrs13min
8.5L Full Tank with half Load runs for 18hrs54min = per litre 1hr14min

My experience, their specifications are exactly what it is.

I highlu doubt that a 2.2kva out Gen can give you 4hrs on 2litres, lai lai....I have a Summec of thesame power rating, if that was the case,
I wont bother buying a small TEC junior. Go to Jumia and look at the full capacity run time for 2.5KVA Generator of other brands, it is usually 9hrs.

Truth is....If you wont be needing to power high output equipment like Pumping machine, iron, microwave and the likes, if all you want is just to power
your lights and fans and TVs and Laptops.....my brother go for a small Gen with small tank and high fuel Efficiency.....

My Sumec 2.5KVA is still there but I will only put it on at extreme situations when Nepa does not give us light at all for several days and I have foodstuff in the refrigerator that need some icing and freezing....but daily use...my brother, get a small Gen.....

yes. very very possible, my old elepaq gives me 5hrs for working at lower capacity

Your calculation does not add up looking at the Datasheet.

At full 15L and running at full power output it can only do 11.2hrs
At half load power output it can do16.4hrs

What that means is Full Load per litre 11.2 divided by 15L = 45mins per litre
Half load with 15L tank per litre 16.4hr divided 15L = 1hr 6mins

Unless of course you are saying the data sheet is wrong.

That your tec Bobo max is 2.2kva. u complained of fuel consumption. I want you to power it without the freezer by follow this steps

Empty the tank
put 2 litres fuel in it and make sure the generator is slightly bend to the fuel tap side because I want u to use up the fuel and confirm the number of hours it will work to empty the 2 litres fuel. If the 2 litres gives u less than 4hrs, I guess the generator need to be checked but if it gives you between 4hrs and more then that freezer is the culprit
is it possible for 2 litres to give up to 4hrs on a 2.2kva Gen...

100% better than sumec. That ya friend don buy gbege Lutian not original I guess
My Gen Mech also recommended Sumec but told me it will be hard to find original Except of course I go with him to pick one....me no want those tumbo tumbo stuff so I went straight to get me a TEC Junior from one of their showrooms in Bode Thomas... Good thing about TEC is that for now they have not started faking them because Haiar Thermocool is selling them mainly
through their own distribution channels, and a very few trusted distribution partners.... so they still have full control of their specs and parts...that's why you see them phase out some of their product lines and replace them with newer models so that umu Alaba no go begin get ideas

8litres should take u more than 7hrs.
4 litres takes my tec Junior for more than 8hrs if I am running at half capacity...
Even the big Sumec will go a little farther than 8hrs for 8litres of fuel....

3 litres on my 1.5kva tec Gen, runs from 9;05pm wey I put am to 3:56am in the morning... maka chukwu nothing beats small Gen by the side for just fan lights and TV....

I just bought the Junior Tec 1.5kva with Max output of 1.1kva.....for 66k at one of the Haiar Thermocool offices in Bode Thomas.

I decided to get the second gen because I noticed that my Sumec 2.5kva Gen was begining to suck fuel despite all the changes i have done to it, including changing the carburetor.

With the Sumec 2.5kva .....before it started sucking fuel, 4 litres would last for about 4hours but since the servicing and repairs, I noticed 4litres take around 3hours at more than half the capacity of the Gen output..... that was just not sustainable for me in this lockdown and working from home era....

That was when I decided to get a small Gen, despite the advice from my Gen Mech to get a Sumec because they make their own parts and blablabla.... I settled with Tec Junior because I noticed that most of the Sumec, Elepaq and all these other popular Generators in the market are the same thing with different tags.... getting an original Sumec will be a herculean task that I was not ready for..... when I checked online for the major distributor of Sumec Firman in Lagos, I only found one and they are in Ikeja.... who get that kind power....

Besides, the testimonies I have heard from tec users especially about fuel economy, as that ranks top on my list of importance, got me very interested. I went online and did my own research on Tec generators, when I pulled out their Datasheet and saw how everything was laid out and transparent, I just knew I would eventually go Tec. Plus you get the stated capacity and run time, and you are certain you are buying a generator with real copper armature and not some coated stuff with a lot of the fakes.

The Tec Junior impressed me the most,
from the data sheet, it says;

Full tank is 8.5L
At Half capacity with a full tank you can run the Gen non-stop for 18.9hrs

At full capacity with a full tank you can run the Gen non-stop for 10.5hrs

That was enough for me.... I don't run any major stuff in my house, just a couple of fans, one led TV, a couple of energy saving bulbs 3 20W and 1 40W.... that was exactly what I wanted.... I was looking for an "I pass my neighbor" equivalence but with AVR and separate oil chamber...

On the first day I used the Gen, I added 2 litres of Fuel and it lasted for 4 hours and I was more than half the capacity of the genset.
I am still guaging the fuel consumption.

Will probably put out more update when I see any striking difference but do far, I have been impressed by the fuel economy especially when I compare it with my 2.5kva sumec gen which I will only be using when I need to cool off the foodstuff in my refrigerator and freezer but the Tec Junior will take the lead for daily work.

adanny01:

Warning, long post.

I disagree with your AC technician.

A compressor should not work perfect in the morning then quit in the afternoon.

A basic understanding of the AC system should suffice at this moment. The compressor pressurises the refrigerant which makes it very cold then is sent to the evaporator, the evaporator fins take the coldness of the refrigerant by conduction. The cabin fan blows the cold from the fins (cold AC air you feel) as a result the refrigerant losses its coldness and absorbs heat and is turned back to vapour, the refrigerant travels to condenser which has fins too. Engine cooling fan blows the heat off in the reversed kind of exchange at the evaporator and as the refrigerant cools down it turns to liquid. The now cool liquid refrigerant gets back to the compressor where the compression causes the refrigerant to get cold.

Now this is where the problem lies, compressor works under a max pressure and has a pressure kill switch. If the compressor receives vapour or hot refrigerant from the condenser (pressure will be high), it will quit via a pressure switch.

So a perfect AC will shut off if the condenser doesnt do its job. Reasons for which a condenser will not do its job are;
1. Bad/blocked condenser fins (bad condenser)
2. Bad cooling fans
3. Too high ambient temperature

What happens is that in the low ambient temperature (morning/evening/night/rain/harmattan), the condenser easily does its job until the afternoon when temp is high, its ineffectiveness will cause the compressor to either do a bad job of cooling or cut out entirely. When you are driving very fast (say 100km/h) wind speed through the condenser is increased considerably that the cooling fan gets all the assistance it needs so the AC will cool. Once, you stop or in a hold up, the condenser only relies on the cooling fan which if defective will be inadequate.

My opinion is that it is either the cooling fan is bad or radiator fins are clogged or damaged or both radiator and cooling fans are bad.

Lastly, the clogging can be at the coolant radiator which sits behind the condenser in most cars. The problem is that anything that causes low air flow will cause low AC cooling especially in the afternoon.
I also suspect the condenser and like you suspect as well, the fan.....I will probably check it tomorrow just to be sure. I feel many AC technician rush to call the compressor because it is an easy way out.....I am still trying to understand why thesame compressor will do a good job at night and early in the morning only to struggle in the hot afternoons. Not like it does not catch in the afternoon but it struggles to get cooler than outside temperature. However, soon as water was poured on the condenser the AC started working fine again.

That's why I want to get a second opinion on this before using money to change anything, I wouldn't want to spend money buying another compressor only to be told it is another thing.

Thanks for your contribution bro.....I will check some of the things you have said and get back.....and please how do i get in touch with Mosbus as someone recommended.

When those cut and nail technicians wey no gree learn work finish before dem go open one shop say dem be technicians finish with your car, you'd run back here for a bigger complain.

If according to your AC doctor the problem is low pressure then I will beg to use your language as above and ask "which pressure e come take dey cool for morning and night"...do you get the logic here? If yes, then you should have posed that same question above to the seeming quack who's about to get one over you with a compressor change.

Common sense should have been suffice to know that whatever is left in your AC cylinder now gets sufficient only when the temperature outside is mellowed.

Hi Nairaland Auto experts, please I will like to know what the problem is before changing anything with my car. I use a Corolla sport 05, I have been struggling with the AC for a while now. I notice that the AC works excellently well in the evening when there is no sun and early in the morning but struggles to maintain a cool temperature especially for people at the back.

I have tried recharging but that has not solved the problem.
If increase the AC to the highest in hot afternoons it just blows air . Also, I also noticed that it slightly gets better when the car is moving than when it is idle in traffic.

I took the car to an AC technician who poured water on the condenser and then asked us to rev the car up, after which I noticed a significant improvement, then he concludes that the problem is the compressor, that it was suffering from low pressure, that we need to change it and it will cost us 28k.

However, I want to get a second opinion as I suspect the condenser and possibly a blockage. I don't know if anyone has experienced this kind of problem before, I would appreciate any technical advise or recommendation or even an AC tech guy that knows what he is doing.

Thank you
