Politics / Re: After Jega's Announcement #March4Buhari Trends On Twitter by rhymz(m): 9:39am On Feb 08, 2015
Yorubas March4Buhari...... It is so obvious that the polity of this country has very dangerous tribal shades of all sorts of irresponsible considerations and reasons.

All of a sudden security does not matter to thus folks again, all they want to do is vote even if the atmosphere smells of impending violence and chaos that will need the full efforts of the security agencies. Why is it so important to the APC that elections must hold on February 14th, unless they are up to something then I see no reason why this should raise so much dust especially in the face of the violence and obvious lack of capacity by the INEC to effectively distribute PVCs.

I will always say this, Yorubas play politics of parochial interests, it is so obvious that very little number are in for it because they want a better Nigeria, they are doing all these because Buhari is being propped up by the Yoruba political elite and has promised to concede some degree of political control, power, interests and influence to the people of the region. It is not about corruption or any positive change for them. But the fact still remains, either way, Nigeria is bleeped, I won't be surprised when the militants in the creeks starts their own problem which usually is more damning than BokoHaram killing a hundred poor northern villagers. It is a painful fact though.

Have you heard about agricultural subsidies in the west?
Do you think that apart from garri, yam and beans, there is any other staple food that we can produce that will be cheaper than the imported ones?
Even the chicken is produced far more cheaply in south africa compared to us thanks to agRicultural subsidies
Do you think that our government can afford to subsidise agriculture like the west?
Being idealistic is one thing, being realistic is another

The cost of producing toothpick in china and the cost of producing toothpick in Nigeria ,which will be cheaper with all available infrastructure that brings down prices. Electricity is important and the government as just refused to provide it.Nigerians are hard working people ,just provide that electricity and you will see creativity .Did you not hear when GMB mentioned about jobless young men running after the buses from the airport to the final destination. That is so much energy being put to waste because they dont have anything doing.
before I begin, I would like to know how old you are, I think it is very important. You seem to think everything must start and begin with government. We have production factories that require huge energy already existing in the country even with the limitations of energy production yet your only reason for not going into toothpick production is because GEJ has not given you power to go into it...... Kid you sound like somebody groping in the dark and looking for excuses. There are some products that we just do not have comparative advantage on, you don't sound to me like you are smart, except for the fact that you just want to look for excuse to talk down on the effort of the FG.

If you know anything about economics, you will understand that the reason why there is no serious effort towards that direction fry on Nigerians is because, it is cheaper way cheaper to import it than to produce it, it does not matter even if we can, the comparative cost of production in Nigeria even if we had all the structures in place will still favor China and other countries with comparative advantage on that production. It is not always about government. Even if you can produce toothpick at N10, it will make no economic sense to continue if somebody else can go to China and import it and is able to sell it for N4.

Besides, there are locally made toothpick, it does not require electricity to produce, most of what you use in restaurants are locally made toothpicks, their production won't stop importation either. It just make sense that government maintains a free market policy in this regard as Nigeria also needs to export other products to other countries and can't be banning every damn thing. You should know how stuff works before rushing out to make trite and ignorant statements of comfort.

Don't deceive yourself and think you are deceiving others, it is all about tribe, region and religion. Only such considerations will make a medicre like Buhari have a chance of consideration when talking about leadership in this country. He was chosen over way better candidates because according to the Yorubas he can deliver Northern votes while they Yoruba bother about SW votes and hope that power surreptitiously goes back to the SW, we are not fools. If it was about records, Buhari is a mediocre and a failure, he has nothing he can boast of as a leader that he did better than an average Jonathan, that is the truth. He has been in leadership way more times than Jonathan, let him point his achievement and leave all taht granding.

While you are busy wishing it and talking all fine and dandy, the reality is that Nigeria does not have the competitive edge to stand shoulder to shoulder with foreign brands, that is the fact. I am sure you still eat imported frozen livestock, yet you have the option of buying locally grown chicken that are like twice the cost of the original. In the international market, African farmers are still clamoring for foreign governments especially those of the WEST to stop heavily subsidizing Agricultural production as it puts them in a disadvantaged position. Do you know how many billions of dollars that go into the subsidization of wheat in America alone? They are number one in Flour production for a reason, this is a country that produce more than 35% of the world's flour. It is not by being hardworking my guy, there is no country that do not have hard working people, we are talking about smart government policy and not the archaic nonsense Buharis and his bunch of political hangers-on are regurgitating since time immemorial.

Newkidoo:

Try to be reasonable for once!
I said i support him on banning the importation of this goods but the local farmers must be encouraged first and how can this be achieved.
You are so biased and irrational!
who told you local farmers can't compete with imported brands. stop all this your nonsense and be reasonable for once..
nigeria has one of the best citizens ever and with proper motivation and encouragement, we can be the best!
the technology you talk about, if local farmers are well funded with improved technology provided to them, you will see the difference in two to three years. don't just sit in your house and think Nigerians can't compete with other developed nations. it requires great thinking and time. if we keep importing all these all our life, with time local foods will become extinct. With your mindset, am sure we won't be able achieve anything ourselves. must we depend on other nations or must we follow the footsteps of other nations.. let us think and achieve things ourselves. Nigeria has the potential of being the best out of all nations. we just need the right set of leaders at the helm of affairs..

I understand your point, I jut get a little annoyed when people reduce the issue of sex to their religious beliefs as if they were hard coded with some set of belief system from their mother's umbilical cord. There is a big difference between arguing that your religion does not support sex before marriage and somebody coming up here to argue that God says it is a sin to have sex unless you are married. That is the dumbest oversimplification of what sex is all about. Sex is not religion or spiritual, it is what it is, basic human biological process and phenomenon. Just like any human feel different things at different times: from taking a poo, being thirsty, crying and all, sex is no different. That you want to set a rule on how to control these feelings and apply them is equally a different argument, what I wont subscribe to is one religious folks that knows little about the deity he calls god to place sex as some divine godly spiritual nonsense that is meant for you only after one pastor says so, that is bullshyte. You are ready for sex soon as you are mature for it simple.

You agree with him on banning rice because like him, you are oblivious of the facts on ground. You just sit in your arm chair comment carelessly. How much is a bag of rice now, even with significant increase in our local production and the fact that government had to increase the tarrif on imported rice. Compare the price to when it was 100 percent importation and government was collecting moderate tariff. That should tell you something if you have any deductive ability to reason. There is a reason why local producers can't meet up ith local production or even compete with imported brands:
1. Countries like Brazil, India, Malaysia, China not to talk of the West greatly subsidize Agriculture. That way, they can take their product to many African countries and out compete even with high tariffs. Local production will be discouraged and as farmers and agricultural practitioners wont be able to compete with superior brands that have heavily been subsidized already.

2. If Nigeria wants to develop the Agric sector, it has to be the way the present government is handling it, use technology, encourage young graduates, qualified practitioners to invest in it, commercialize agriculture and most importantly, choose aspect of the sector that can be greatly subsidized and sustained. The reality is that no matter what Nigeria does, we can not compete with foreign brands in a free and fair market at least for now. It has to be developed and given systematic structuring as the current minister is doing. This is not a case of ban this and that when you do not have the capacity to produce it. But many of you are superficial and very petty, you wont understand a thing about effective policy as long as you are blinded by irresponsible politicking and propaganda.

Newkidoo:
Most people that has commented on this thread are just not matured! What has origin got to do with wat he said instead of you to read it and make reasonable contributions, you are acting silly!

I agree with him on banning rice and tomatoes! But before doing that he should make sure the local farmers are fully supported and funded.. I just believe in this man.
Most nigerians has no discipline, that is how corruption starts. If corruption could be curb to the minimal, most of these things he mentioned could be achieved!

This man is dense and very trite. The same old bullshit! I will ban this and that without talking about any policy structure. Even with the huge investment in Agriculture and rice production in particular, Nigeria is yet to be self-sufficient, we can't even produce enough rice to feed ourselves and yet one old man that is out of touch is carelessly talking about a ban on products that we are yet to gain self-sufficiency on.

I thought they said the Jonathan government has done nothing right, ho come he is sitting so comfortably talking about how cool it is for government to have privatize the DISCOs. To even show you how dense and superficial the man is, he is talking about a country privatizing her entire power transmission to the private sectors. Which serious country in the world does such a thing. Does this guy think transmission and distribution are the same thing that you just hand over to the private sector and be at their mercy. I don't think the old man even understand the implication of the nonsense he is suggesting. There are things you just don't hand over to the private sector, a country's transmission network is one of such. That is like handing over the launch code of a dangerous nuclear war head to individuals who should have no business with such. I keep saying it, these guys lack the depth that Nigeria needs to continue to progress, just some shallow oversimplification of the issues is what this guy and his gang are about, nothing of substance.

I don't do the Christian-judo God any way..... His contradictions are enough to make you want to put that book down and start using your goddamm head...... But then again, these books are rife with errors because after all they were written by mere mortals who claim divine revelation, most of them largely unknown, probably church pseudo-writers with their own twisted belief system.

My point is this; sex is a natural human phenomenon and is not meant for marriage, that is a fact most religious people seem to get all wrong. The primary reason for sex is procreation and pleasure, the idea of it being all divine and for marital purpose is all man made and has little to do with natural science. The concept of marriage in itself is man made, animals for in stance do not marry but they have sex for the primary reasons of satisfying body hormonal changes (i.e pleasure) and the need to procreate, and this is phenomenon that is known to exist in adults, meaning sex is for two consenting male and female adults and not married people, simple. And being married cam never override the fact that sex is an adult thing as too unripe man and woman can be married since it is a human concept and still not ready for sex.

So keep all that God God God talk for Sunday sermon and the religious folks that want to feel alright about his religious pursuit, sex is science not God engineering.

One thing is for certain for me, I won't contemplate marriage with a woman whose Sexual drive I don't know. I can't even be in a relationship where sex is seen as a sin, obviously, I am going to be bored with such a little minded fellow. To begin with, when it comes to marriage and relationships, the bible or any religious book is the last place to go for any serious practical advice. Everything about the Bible is anti-woman, women are described as acquired properties of the male folks.

In today's Nigeria, only a fool will contemplate marrying a woman whose sexuality and sexual conduct is a mystery. The last thing I want to be doing every day is describing to a surprised face how i would have wanted us to have sex or want her to act during sex. Sex is not a subject for Holy Spirit and spiritual mumbo-jumbo, if I feel it, I want to have it and I need you to see it as a normal human phenomenon. If I had to wait until marriage then God shouldn't have made me sexually active until marriage. That talk about God when it comes to sex with a partner is bullshyte to me...... We are talking biology and somebody is talking about the some unseen deity whose proof of existence I can't verify as an excuse for withholding sex, what a selfish talk.

Did you notice how Buhari has not come out to say the gbanjo certificate released by his principal friend is his or not his. His lawyers have probably advised him to continue to maintain silence just in case the whole scam blows up in his face, they can easily come out and say at no point did we claim the results or statement of results released on the Internet was that of GMB. We know all these things. What he does not realize is what this scandal is doing to his fictitious integrity and all that propaganda shout about Change and fighting corruption. It is so obvious that a man who himself is a direct beneficiary of a corrupt set up can not and will have no moral will to genuinely fight corruption at least not to people that have his secrets, little wonder his fighting corruption attempts in the 80s had sacred cows that he dared not touch no matter their misgivings, they probably know him inside out.

Even Yoruba people that came all the way from osun, ibadan and co will come to NL and threaten igbo people some of whom were born and raised here in Lagos, and threaten them about chasing them to the east like the east is some hell how we don't go to.... It is funny how one random Yoruba person thinks he is more Lagosian than a non Yoruba just because he is Yoruba..... Even if you have only been to the said place on visit. I dey wait for the ed!ot that will say such to me in real life if I no go knock him teeth off and wait for him to go and wake Awolowo to chase me out Lagos for his sake.

Igbos are not afraid of any Yoruba person or their politicians, either way it is a Yoruba affair, no igbo person has any need to claim Lagos as an Eastern state or Land, but the realities must be said and that is the fact that the igbos have a voting block that can not be ignored, whether it is underrated by the Yorubas or exaggerated by the igbos themselves e no matter, the fact is that we are enough to swing votes, make political negotiations with candidates, make demands, and even influence policies in Lagos. If you had some you would know he made a mistake and correcting him about the university or O'level board was quite unnecessary.

I know what that means. I know of Cambridge board O'level of the colonial era.

i know that's what the guy meant when he said Cambridge university.
You think I've to time to gloss over inconsequentials thereby detracting from the fact that a hokus pokus result is being forced on us.

Anyway back to the matter at hand:

The supposed educated one.
Its not the Cambridge as in university. Cambridge WASC was the examnination board for secondary school GCE during the colonial era for both O'level and A'level.
