Stop wasting your time on social media is the take for me...... I have experience of how social media can waste your time and I have watched countless documentaries on the downside of social media, I had to close down my favorite Facebook and yanked off the app.... I used to complain about the private jet thing because I have always felt the money could be used to help those less fortunate in the church. However I recently had to go somewhere by bus. I hated it. I had to put up with the conductors rudeness. I got to where I was going so late because the bus had to stop so many times. I also hated sitting beside complete strangers whose sweat was touching my body. I don't want to ever have to do that again. Basically I had no control unlike when I drive myself. It must be the same thing for people who have to fly to different places all the time. Flying commercial will slow them down and and they'd get to their destinations maybe not in the best mood either. So owning a jet might actually be a necessity for Bishop Oyedepo and others. I've come to realize that I would get one if I needed it.

I would tell you that there is little wrong in the prosperity that Oyedepo preaches

1) I have never seen Oyedepo on TV asking for anybody to give to his ministry, schools etc.....

2) I have seen Oyedepo's car before(the one he drives himself). He has been using the same silver car for about three years or so. While I don't know the model, it is a very average car. Seen his house too and sitting room - very very average.

3) As per jet, Benny does not have 6,000 branched churches, Schools to administrate over, Oyedepo does. Ghana branches of Living Faith alone is 150 scattered everywhere. In one particular month he visited 27 countries hence his ministry requires it not as a luxury but a quick means of transportation. So hey it depends on how large and centralised a ministry is and living faith leadership appears to be very centralised.

4) Oyedepo always talks about the limitations of the prosperity gospel but ppl never listen to that they only pick what they want to pick. Even Kenneth Hagin once conformed that "there is a thin line between the permissible and the objectionable when it comes to issues of financial prosperity".

5) Oyedepo doesn't actually have 150 million USD in his account- he just believes it is an insult to equate the worth of a believer to a sum of 150 million.

6) I have visited all kinds of Churches and I tell you Offerings in WC is just once. Apart from special services.

7) If you like slander Oyedepo for preaching tithe or claim tithing is irrelevant. All I know is that Living Faith pays tithes of Billions to another large ministry in Nigeria every month. It takes a man of conviction to do that.

Now if there is anything that frustrates me about Bishop Oyedepo, it is that he refuses to care about his image or even lies put out there against him. Same for pa Adeboye. See how Joseph Prince quickly cleared himself from the yeye Forbes list. Now I am not bothered that Oyedepo and Adeboye are being insulted or mocked but my issue is how it can easily affect baby believers who are easily tilted. And if major pastors are left to be attacked consistently on social media, it is the root of Christianity that would shake
In years to come both the catholics, orthodox and Pentecostals would all suffer for all these unchecked attacks and backbiting within d church. Lastly as a Christian I won't criticize any other Christian for using a jet because I know fully well that if I had the money and require it then I would buy it. Whatever is unlawful for the pastor is unlawful for every other christian. If a pastor can't be rich then all Christians can't be rich either, if a pastor can't own a jet then no christian can own a jet.

For me, I maintain that a private jet is nothing more different than a private car.

you sound like you want punishment for anyone who disagrees with Oyedepo and Adeboye. And to even conclude that them being attacked on social media will lead to Christianity dying in Nigeria is laughable, don't confuse pentecostalism with Christianity, if you move out of the southwest and towards the East, you will realize that these pentecostal pastors with larger than life persona are not all that, catholism still hold the influence in those domains and even many of the priests do not approve Prosperity preaching model of these pentecostals.

Talking about branches, I dey laugh you, how many branches does Winners or Redeem have compared to any of the orthodox is like the Roman Catholic or Anglican has, the Pope or Canterbury does not make it a point to travel round the branches world over to show that he is the overseer, I don't know why Oyedepo or Adeboye has to travel to over 27 countries in one month to visit his branches, what exactly is the purpose, why does he have to travel to all of his branches to oversee them, unless there's a lack of trust in the management of these branches, I see no reason why a general overseer will be travelling like a CEO, CEOs don't make such insane trips to oversee their businesses.

You can defend them all you want and turn the Bible upside down to accommodate some of the perversion they preach in the confines of their churches, the fact still remains that brand of Christianity is vane, lacks depth and is all about what members can do to get money from God, it is like playing baba ijebu with your beliefs, if you believe well well, at some point, it becomes normal to the person even when it is all mirage.

I don't subcribe to your submission with lots of reasons.

First,presently in Nigeria,the labour market is saturated with Bsc from all corners and in order to have an edge,you need to proof you're still learning which Masters can do.

Secondly,some Universities in the labour market are not well recognised, hence some applications not attended to. I have witnessed tbis a number of times. The moment your Uni is not UI,Lag,Convenant,Babcock,Afe and the likes,you can only proove your worth with a second degree from all any of these Ivy universities.

Thirdly,very soon, Bsc will turn to SSCE since you can obtain it,if you have money but Masters Cert o)is a little bit difficult to buy (not saying you can't buy it) because all those Drs and Profs will make it difficult.

Furthermore,it takes the grace of God to combine Masters and work together especially if you work in a private coy. You should go for your Masters the moment you grad,it will show your employer you will require to leave office and attend classes.

Finally,go for your Mastes if you intend going into academics. It is the best edge over others.

I have lots but let me stop here and advise those who intend doing their Masters . Make hay while the sun shine.

this is pure BS! Whoever told you that graduating from UI, UNILAG AFE or any of these southwestern schools is an automatic to ticket to employment obviously does not know what he is talking about. No serious HR is going to choose 2.2 from UNILAG over a 2.1 from another university outside of the ones you listed, that's pure hear-say.

The best thing is to graduate with a 2.1 at a very young age, at least between 21 and 24.....you are a hotcake from any University. Companies don't necessarily care if you graduated from UNILAG or UI, I don't see how that matters, they are all I Nigeria and don't necessarily have any exceptional qualities that other Universities do not have.

I graduated at around 24 and 25 from FUTO, I never had to roam the streets of Lagos looking for a job, I have always been working even while in school. My Industrial attachment was an opportunity to gain experience and get some connections with people who will later be useful to me after graduation. I have worked in two places since I graduated and I am still working, if you know your value and where you want to create a niche for yourself career wise, you won't be talking about not being taken because you are from so so and so University, that's bullshit talk, I don't know where they do that I'm Nigeria. I have worked in Engineering, have a lot of friends in Banking and Finance, I am currently with an IT firm, I have never heard that people are being selected based on the University they attended, I know of the University - polytechnic discrimination especially amongst banks but this new story of selected school is pure bullshit.

You just raised a very salient point I have often talked about when I challenged family and friends who fall for this bible wielding conman calling themselves men of God that confuse them with grandiose spiritual mumbo-jumbo while hiding the real facts of how finances and ownership of church properties work.

Honestly speaking, at the root of all these tithing arguments is the fear that far from talking about tithes, people might be led to become bold enough to demand that the church management and establishment show in clear details how these funds that go to the church are being managed.

This to me is the biggest fear of this pastorpreneurs, they don't want to be accountable, they have always shielded themselves with grandiose spirituality when it comes to the area of financial accountability and appropriation. It is no coincidence that many of them have become super rich, who wouldn't be, not when you have unlimited and unquestioned access to a pool of wealth shielded in spirituality and protected from any form of financial scrutiny.

Reality check for many if the sheeples who are quick to defend their favorite MoG and Daddy GO who come to the alter and talk granduose platitudes and turn green when they are challenged to show accountability. Look at all the businesses owned by the church, I am sure the ownership names does not carry the names of the churches but individuals who are likely the MoG himself, his family members and some of the top church management pastors.

There's a reason every pastor has most of their kids as pastors who go on to manage regions of the church that consolidate their hold and influence on the church especially if they are the founder of the church. We have seen such examples with idahosa, with Oyedepo whose son is the head of winners UK, same with Adeboye. That their dad is a MoG automatically mean at least one of them must end up a pastor.

In all if these, we are all reminded that these people may have started out with the purest of heart and sincerity of purpose but as the wealth and influence of the church they started out grew, other interests and self-preservation antics also came into play and the live and lure of wealth became so strong and entrenched that it is almost impossible to imagine survival without it, hence their posturing today.

I own subsidiaries that generate a fraction what my partners put together in the parent company. Sometimes, money can move from the parent company (current account) to solve a problem or projects that concern the Subsidiaries (savings/investments).
I tell my partners who are neither shareholders nor registered trustees of my company, I have never received salary from the business nor touched any money (Profits) from the business. Whereas, from the foregoing, I own the company by registration and I am the sole authority to the accounts.
