kikuyu1: I keep seeing posts proving posters have no clue the weapons system they're cheerleading. After all this time we STILL see forumers "explaining" how a flight of Sue 30 will change the situation in the NE or how a couple of minisubs will redraw the strategic situation in the Gulf of Guinea by denying mighty Cameroonian patrol boat Grebe success to the Bight of Benin and similar examples of sea denial. Guys, weapons and weapons platforms must be FIT FOR PURPOSE! No matte how weirdo or outlandish they may seem they MUST perform a clear function, a definite purpose. Behold, the assault revolver, the rsh-12!?
Yes! There is a revolver firing the giant 12.7x55 mm round. Ofc, there's a very SPECIFIC purpose- punching through walls and body armour to put DOWN terrorists WITH one shot- and one hand as the other usually holds a ballistic shield.
The concept makes MUCH sense: despite what movie's tell us pistols, even tricked out specops handguns evidence failure to feed. Revolver with much fewer parts are more reliable. The giant round is so powerful a solid hit ESPECIALLY at typical close room distance would dismember the victim- therefore the revolver makes sense in AT ops. In a traditional P2P 1st world battle space like Russia vs W Europe, our AS/ KDF or ISWAP/NA engagements it would be as useless as gills on a lion! The rsh-12 exemplifies how tactical NEED influences the weapon-NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. I hope the idea that weapons are tailored to the tactical situation is now clear. GASSPPP! There are now carbine versions available for civvy hunters.
ChuksTalking: Am enjoying this thread show with my mouth shut not saying a word, but am missing Bidexiii, so we pray he is well and not banned.
For that man's long tori like WAEC essay or NECO, some sense is in it but maybe his land cruiser Toyota 1,000 pick up is not NA soft skined 4 WD his own idea may be up armoured type like our own Proforce armoured land cruiser Toyota so he may be right, NA needs it for special forces or rapid deployment, hot pursuit and soft soil too weak for heavy apc, ifv, mraps. Please buy 1,000 from us we deliver on time, call our head prodn dept Ayo @ tel 08023890712
You don't seem to understand. A secondary requirement is resistance to 12.7mm ordnance. No up armoured Toyota has that.
dragon2: According to Dearsan's post on Linkedin on 3 October, the Turkish shipyard has secured an agreement with the Nigerian Navy to build two offshore patrol vessels. Naval News Staff 05 Nov 2021
Dearsan stated on the social media:
“Our Shipyard will build 2 units of 76 m OPV (76 meter Offshore Patrol Vessel) within the scope of the contract signed with the Nigerian Navy. The OPV’s, which have been configured in line with the Nigerian Navy requirements, will be designed and build entirely within our shipyard’s capabilities and equipped with indigenous systems.”
The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the Nigerian Navy within 37 months. The ships will be outfitted with indigenous sensors and systems, according to the agreement, but the details of the systems and subcontractors have not been disclosed by the signatories.
fourboys: All these loans, what's the payback plan?? I don't get it, till now I still don't understand why these fools closed our borders. We can't import goods from other countries but we can borrow money from them God na just one visa oo
The pay back plan is pay your taxes. Border closure is good policy. It will protect Nigerian goods. Personally if I were President, my economic policies would be more draconian. Nigerians don't want to use brains at all yet the world is changing. There is energy transition. Crude oil will soon be destroyed as the most important global commodity. There are supply chains issues and post COVID stuff causing global inflation yet all Nigerians can think about is cheap petrol, imported salad and bone straight hair. It is a disgrace
NwaNimo1: Oyibo refer to that time as the 'dark ages'.......they don't like discussing the matter,
very crafty people!
No oga. Dark ages = no science, no development, no organized religion, no records of events throughout Europe because of the fall off the Roman Empire and reign of barbarian tribes (Germans) Everywhere else was developing but Europe. It was the moors who brought modern civilizations to the dark continent then
ecomog1990: We as Nigerians quickly forget our past.
Any goddam new procurement of vehicles, we celebrate blindly without careful deep thinking.
So we celebrated 43 T-72 tanks 7 years ago but today 7 years after celebration, Nigeria's insecurity is worse.
All these unarmed light armoured vehicles without guns long range night vision sensors, will be fitted with same old DShK or W85 that has failed to give security to all 36 states and FCT.
320 unarmed STANAG 1 & STANAG 2 vehicles are not war winners. You may keep celebrating like this for another 20 years. They turn you to their drummer boy dancers while big men get rich from each procurement
All these 100 Dongfeng, 100 Bigfoot, 60 Legion, 60 Type 89 tracked are simply replacements for heavy attrition losses Nigerian Army is suffering for Steyr APC tracked, MTLB tracked, MRAPs of Bigfoot, Caiman, REVA, etc destroyed by IED, RPG, DShK, etc. You need to visit Nigerian Army scrap vehicle bone yard or Zamfara to Borno terrain graveyard of destroyed NA armoured vehicles to see how many vehicles we have lost to enemy action.
Tuareg & Tebu Mali Bandits, Kanuri Boko Haram, Sahel & Sahara ISWAP, Senegal & Nigér Fulani Bandits have already done infantry tactical flanking maneuver turn corner sidetrack & bypass Nigerian Army containment barrier troop battalions to invade reach Kaduna, Benue, Niger, Abuja, down to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, they now have access to all our 36 states & FCT.
Like ISOTREX Phantom and KIA KLTV failed, so Dongfeng with DShK will NOT save us in our 923,000 km² land mass giant size, we need new armoured vehicles in several thousands spread across all 774 local government areas to trully end insecurity nationwide.
This is just - 320 + 320 = 0 Progress
How could you waste so many words posting such nonsense? . There is no economy in it at all. This is not a cost effective post
shadowprimezero: The picture you posted is on the heavy IFV variant which we don't know if Nigeria got. For context, the is the "skeletal" 12.7mm/40mm RCWS we were talking about. You can also see it operation in this video.
These systems are $180k at the very least. The vehicle on its own is just about $220k. I am not sure Nigeria would have gotten one RWS per vehicle. I acknowledge the advantages of RWS for laying cover fire from inside the vehicle during ambush and ability to work in a sniper infested battle field that pins down most manual gunners but I think RWS should be one per six vehicles
youghs: The dongfeng APC has a nice mobility but it's protection is kinda wack. Armour protection of 7.62mm ball at 100metres is pretty much worthless in the advent of an ambush. It's better than our soft skin Hilux tho and it will be very useful for the special forces.
You do know that there is primary PPE of flack jackets though. If you are seated correctly in the vehicle and wearing your jacket, I seriously doubt a fatality from 12.7mm ammunition, which would have been significantly slowed down by the Armour of the vehicle.
shadowprimezero: Quite possible. The Dongfeng has a weird looking skeletal RCWS so its possible thats it in its uninstalled version
That's not an RWS or an RWS chassis. Dongfeng Mengshi has manual turret and automatic grenade launcers.
It is possible, Nigeria Army bought a few recce versions that have RWS like in this picture below but we are not sure. I actually doubt it. It is 12.7mm gün and some AGLs that we know
Whyem15: I only hope they bought enough spares, support vehicles and trained enough personnels to be able to maintain them for a long period. The way we used the last set of Bigfoot MRAPs is quite shameful.
Also, I hope they won't fix these platforms with 12.7mm guns only. They should carry varying calibers and types of ammunitions. They should follow the lead of the Navy by fixing 40mm grenade launchers etc on some of these platforms.
Soldiers prefer RPGs, what are you gonna do 'bout that?
Lies from a sick inferiority complex afflicted young tribalist. The man absolutely did NOT say this. I watched the programme from start to finish. The context was an example to illustrate the futility of striving to become President when you are not sure of tomorrow. Simple enough to understand if you are not some sicko who thinks Nigeria's dissolution will compensate for or explain individual failure
komekn: You must be very young and inexperienced, your approach is indicative of your background.
Using historical analysis 2/3 decades ago to make a projection in the HERE and NOW.
I want you to think about , what the Chadeans did in two weeks when invited into Nigeria to help fight against Boko, what they did in Mali, all in very recent times.
Consider Thier international reputation as the toughest fighters in Sub Saharan Africa. Even with very rudimentary equipment if you ask me.
Chad has won many social media victories since Boko Haram started.
Before Boko Haram they were notable for defeating a division of the heavily armed but professionally inept Gadhaffi's army + mercenaries.
As someone is suggesting here, they did better as a conventional force than against Boko Haram.
They made incursions into Nigerian territory in the late 70s/early 80s and nearly lost their capital city in just a few days of blitzkrieg by NA.
As a Manu supporter, my contempt for Ole is now complete. Liverpool won by 5 goals yet theie defence was open throughout. They left spaces in the mid field. Any half assed coach would have taken those weaknesses. Now West Ham is showing everyone how to play.
dragon2: The way they capture the Ethiopian Government soldiers in number......Poor battlefield leadership. Modified. Don't get me wrong it happens in war. However, modern sensor systems give a clearer picture of the battlefield to allow for tactical manoeuvres to prevent large scale surrender.
See how useless the SU25s and SU27s are?. I stopped arguing these issues because I found some people were just stuck on some old doctrines of warfare and the 'durability' of soviet equipment. Some guys would even have called the Ethiopian Airforce stronger than Nigeria's because of SU27s.
Hello Ethiopia, sensors are everything. Buy ISR gear. Look for supply lines to the rebels and bomb them. Use special forces creatively. Converting information from as many sensors as possible into a broad picture of the battle space is the only way to do modern warfare. You would be able to dodge the flanking moves and the feints. See where the enemy is hiding and determine what his objectives really are.
They said the building belongs to Osibanjo, why inaugurating panel instead of going after the said owner of the building that has destroyed so many lives
Ignorance. Many people 'were going' to own the building.
TOPCRUISE: And he was released by powers from above. Definitely LASBCA chairman did his job. If he was suspended for letting work to continue and ensuring that Femi Osibuona got released then he should be prosecuted. But if he is the one that took action and made spirited effort to stop work but the so called powers from above prevented him from doing his job then the Lagos State government and those powers from above have a case to answer.
He did not do his job. There is no "powers that be" that allowed work to continue at that site. It is his responsibility. This is a lesson to all Nigerians. "Powers that be" has no NIN No. or BVN.
This company was not the construction company. The person who started this thread should correct himself. I know Nairaland is a site for spreading ignorance amongst weak brained youths but this one needs correction
JOemmy: Nigeria is currently the poverty capital of the world yet buhari keeps spending billions of dollars on military equipments instead on poverty alleviation and education.
So you think you have posted truth or logicality here. I suppose these days you dont have to use brains before you post anything. The problem is you will get progressively dumber if you don't use brains.
Lack of security is the new driver of poverty in Nigeria. It is affecting agriculture and preventing new investments including FDI It is also affecting education so it is creating future poverty.
This is the main driver of herdsmen migration doen south. We need to re afforestate large tracks of Sudan and Sahel Savannahs. The world can help by providing the money.
Hoverbird: The Nigerian army have a history of poor human rights record it didn't start today, this has been the case since the 60's it is not a matter of a few individuals this is almost like a policy. Similar scenario happened in a village at Aba were Nigerian Soldiers went house to house butchering unarmed civilians with matchete the video is even on YouTube. I won't be surprised if they deny it and some people here will shamelessly defend them.
They are not human rights abuses. They are mini war crimes.
It helps not to kill soldiers deployed for internal security. Somehow whichever community does it comes away with tears.
It actually helps not to have soldiers deployed to your community. I have not seen where things have turned out differently. Even UN peace keeping forces abuse civillians, especially females.
We are already enforcing the ban on open grazing in the SW.
Actually, this is how it works:
Fulanis can graze as long as they don't trespass into another person's farm.
Once they trespass, the farmer will call Amotekun to do the arrest the herders and cows as there are existing laws backing both open grazing and Amotekun.
But had there been no such laws, Fulanis will trespass another person's farm and go scot-free or even harass the farmer.
So the law is good and working.
You are a typical Nigerian. You tell lies for a living and you are a coward. Ban on open grazing is just what it says - No Open Grazing. The law is un-enforcible that is why there is still open grazing. The law is also illegal. By saying they can graze but should not damage crops which was the status quo, you are saying the law was never necessary in the first place. Just politicians scamming you and other simple minded people.
mariahAngel: You made him CBN governor as par what na? The owner of Nigeria abi?
As per OBJ was President and he was my brother, I was supplying all the girls in Aso Rock and because of that, when I suggested your name he said yes. All your heroes and elders are degenerates.
