I know how they are designed mate wink this particular vehicle will not be economically feasible to be fixed wink besides big foots are relatively cheap and Nigeria has several of them..... No sane person with half economic or accounting background would consider it wise to repair a vehicle that has been damaged to this extent.... Its not a major loss!! No need spending money on it when you have several to go around

What is not economically feasible?
What was ever economic about a military vehicle?. All military equipment are negative assets in accounting. They are not producing profit.
This vehicle is just a platform to deliver ordnance on a weak enemy but is costs $300k to buy a new one and only $35k will put this back in service - engine, front suspension, drive train.

Nigeria should move with global current move of industrialization and modernization instead of revisiting outdated and abandoned first republic program at 21st century.
Netherlands has more cattles than Nigeria and they breed them in modern way that no one is affected.
Netherlands have grazing zones.
There is a region on the border with Belgium that always smells of cow dung for many kilometers.
Ranching is also not a modern method of animal husbandry. Ranching is older than open grazing. Modern ranching is 3x more expensive than Open grazing.
Anybody who wants to argue about it should look for N1bn and 50m monthly to start and operate a ranch.
It is easy to sound sophisticated on Nairaland.

The country needs to sit down and evolve original solutions that work.

engine gone, drive train gone, suspension gone, wheels, armour gone and most importantly the Hull most likely damage as well..
By design it is ready to be fixed and sent back.
By design - meaning people have modeled the damage scenarios and designed it for re use.. so it is not open to argument. There are many US crash center salvaged second hand vehicles on Nigerian roads. They were designed to survive.

This one is still bullet proof and partially RPG proof. It won't survive a second IED blast due to weak heat affected zones HAZ from the first blast.
You can still use it in the same theatre as middle position vehicle in a convoy

If RWS is useless as you claim, why is the military developing it?

It has uses for static position defence, access denial at a border or in rare engagements where friendly forces are pinned down in such a way that they cannot go up to their turrets, access their vehicles OR they maybe they want to use the entire vehicle (not just its guns) as a UGV.

These situations would be in boring static defence situations that regular manning with soldiers would lead to distractions OR conventional battle against an equally matched enemy fielding RWS.

There is no justifiable use case for using RWS in large nos for COIN or against fast, mobile scattered opposing forces. No advantages are conferred.

I Would rather buy a lot of AGLs for the same purposes you want to deploy RWS.

The targeting auto-mode assists the operators target acquisition, a gyro-stabilised turret works perfectly while the platform is moving!! Dont you understand how a RCWS works? grin

RCWS is a mature and combat proven system adopted by many armys. Target acquisition is faster and magnitudes more accurate than a manual controlled turret. Spraying bullets while praying to hit something has been proven not to work too well on the battlefield.

This is a lie. In the fog of battle, target acquisition is not faster. The gunner also does not have as much situational awareness as a manual gunner. Situational awareness in sights and sounds and relative positions of friendly and opposing forces.

NIGERIA is a funny country.

The only solution is ranching.

It's been said more than a million times grin

Nomadic animal husbandry systems are simply outdated. The people of Nigeria are not the problem but the system the conservatives are adamant never to modify.

Nigeria is a funny country. People think they know but don't. Ranching is the oldest form of animal husbandry. There is nothing modern about it. In fact herdsmen started as ranchers before being displaced by wars and climate change.
In the Bible, someone married two daughters of one man as a rancher and became a herdsman after that.

Very few people are adopting ranching apart from governments in Nigeria in spite of all these superior airs about ranching, why? Because is fucking expensive that is why. Go and put your money in it and we check the figures in 3 years.

Governments can do ranching but they should also do grazing zones for small holder livestock farmers.

Simple enough if you actually think.

Isnt that my first comment? any Land based RWS that cant deliver like CIWS is useless, I even explained the limitations of these land based systems in auto mode, if you cant engage your MRAP mounted RWS in auto track & destroy mode while on Patrol, it is not worth it.

RCWS in action on land is not as accurate as you think, the major problem being sensor obfuscation by terrain, buildings & trees, the sensor Algorithm needs to be fast to interprete these obstacles real quick.
In practice, the gunner still makes these decisions reducing response time.
The opposite is the case in water & air.

This challenge is the reason there is no Land based CIWS till date, so many are at the development stage, none has scaled through.
In summary, all land based RCWS dont operate on "Auto" mode to give that accuracy you desire.

Thank you for restating this technical fact which some of us have mentioned quite a few times. Some contributors on this thread have video game fuelled immaturity and are quite mentally timid when faced with embellished data sheets on the Internet.

Where did you see 'free of charge gift or donation in the comment?'

So you can't do a little thinking to figure it out mate? When you see export sales contract "fully funded by manufacturer, 0% deposit payment" use of the word deposit means credit purchase , no deposit of cash down, 100% cost will be repaid in future as scheduled in agreed portions broken down into tranches.

I have helped you edit and add it to the comment o, but try a little adult-education mate grin

If you are working for Proforce say so but I advise you not to think that Govt procurement departments are stupid. Even if you are a current local manufacturer or aspiring one, every offer would still have to go through hard headed evaluation with all factors considered.
Please remember also that Nigerian Army can make MRAPs

On the boldened, I disagree with you, the precision RCWS brings ensures effective use of bullets in a way that you can hit the same spot over and over again until you've taken your target out compared to the Quantity of bullets that would have been fired in bursts by a manual gunner most of which would not even hit the target due to poor stability, recoil and limited accuracy of the gunner. The safety of the gunner is also another important thing that RCWS offer. Not to even talk about the thermal and night vision cameras and the various other sensors that are force multipliers that RCWS offers.
RCWS is a force multiplier and the military should look into getting it when there is enough spare resources, while it is expensive to get and operate, it is cost efficient when you look at the advantages. But before you start considering getting force multipliers, you must first have a meaningful force and that has been the point of my discussion over time. . RCWS will greatly increase the effectiveness and accuracy of the army but we must first have a strong army as a foundation for it. There is no current threat that warrants the spending of huge sums on RCWS at the expense of protected mobility that is an emergency that platforms such as the VT-4 tanks and ST-1 combat vehicles can't take care of howbeit at increased costs and I'm not even talking about the RCWS that comes with these platforms. Also, it would be far more reasonable in terms of scale of preference and opportunity cost to buy more tanks and other multipurpose AFVs such as assault guns and tank destroyers that can serve the purpose of IFVs to some extent while providing other capabilities before going for dedicated platforms such as the IFVs.

My dear friend, please post a YouTube video of RWS in action within a fluid and dynamic battlefield. I am now certain that some people don't know what they are talking about.
I want to see RWS being fired from inside the vehicle with hostiles and friendlies all around and what advantages these your "magic weapons" actually confer.

Wow thanks for the insight, I never knew RCWs were that expensive I pray proforce and Co comes to our rescue soon, locally made should be cheaper

RWSs are expensive to buy. How about the cost of owning them? .
The use case most half educated commentators on Nairaland continue to harp on would result in the expense of 2 or 3 times more ammo than manually operated turrets. Most of the best RWS sensors also (unfortunately) lead to operator tunnel vision of the battlespace for as much as 60% of the cases of use.

There is no case to make for RWS that improved training and TTTPs won't better on manual turret

It is of strategic national importance that one region does not hold Nigeria to ransom in terms of oil and gas.

Every Nigerian wants this. Already 80% of power generation is tied to Niger Delta produced natural gas. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Sorry if it offends you but this is not also good for the Niger Delta.
Nobody wants it.

"NATO expansion " is sovereign countries taking a decision to join that defence and security framework.
Russia cannot dictate to Poland, Estonia and others where they should be.

Maybe making Russia more attractive to its neighbors would prevent them joining NATO but the hegemon mentality has to be renounced by Russians
Politics / Re: It Appears The Next President Of Nigeria Will Come From South West by RiceProducers: 1:20pm On Dec 24, 2021

Bros it is easier for Buhari to get third term and winning in Imo State than South West getting the presidency. Quote me anywhere.
South West needs the other components of the south to win. You can't lose South South and South East and become the president when you are from the South.
Do the permutations. Someone from North East comes out against South West. The contender wins North East and South East and South. The person from South West win South West then share votes with the North East person in North West and North Central. No be game over is that?
Politician's in the East and South South know this. Even some Yorubas know this. The best is to support a South East person or support South South to complete their terms. The latter north prefers.
North East and North West wont support just any Northerner. You are oversimplifying. The North thinks more medium term and I hear all they are interested in now is just 4 years of southern Presidency. This is not exactly palatable to southerners.

The South East is definitely entitled to the Presidency but the sole determinant of that is the North and the person chosen would very well be a manchurian candidate otherwise the damage done by IPOB/ESN/UGM has disqualified the region.
Politics / Re: Niger Delta Militants, Oil Prices Affected My Performance: Buhari by RiceProducers: 10:26am On Dec 24, 2021
Rollsnjaguar:
I don't understand, Niger Delta Militant? How?

Niger Delta militants bombed oil pipelines during the first term because Buhari questioned fake amnesty stipends and started probing GEJ and other issues.
Nigeria never revovered from this.
The oil price was already low and they cut the output of the country to less than 450,000 barrels at one time.

Buhari is a gentleman. If I had been the President, I would have SUSPENDED oil production from the region permanently for environmental reasons.
I would also have done a mini naval blockade.

Would the Niger Delta have been destroyed?. No. The region would have grown some brains.
The state governments would have diversified their economies to agro, IT and service sector based industries. The states don't have to share these resources with anybody.
Nigeria would have restructured without big English.
Now everything is a mess. The states are brainless entities with loquacious Governors spending without thinking years ahead.

The T129 used originally the LHTEC T800 engine but for export the less efficient (Turkey made) TEI TS1400 is offered. Philippines bought the LHTEC T800 engine in a separate deal between Turkey and the US for their T129. This could also be for us a way to push the deal through.

How sensible is it to use TEI TS1400?
We are not talking mission reliability but operations reliability. That is the ability to do many sorties a week for many weeks in a year for many years.

What is TEI TS1400 anyway but another engine that will still depend on subsystems and components made by US affiliated companies or companies financed by US affiliated banks.

The technical partner of TEI is GE Aviation. That's a subsidiary of GE.

Not a good idea. We should be going for Bell Helicopters AH1s. There is no credible service record for T129. I am also pretty sure that the type has undergone some extensive re-development just to break sanctions. There is no evidence that the sub systems added or replaced would give good reliable service

They don't have resources to project power and sustain multi front conventional wars so they have built up impressive nuclear arsenals. Russia is also vulnerable to multi front invasions so they have tactical nukes. The ratings of superpower capacity for fighting wars is related to the ability to cut off C3I resources quickly and effectively in the first few hours. This is also where layman analyses fail. How does a superpower protect.its multi layered C3I and how easily does an enemy destroy it or take it over
