. 220m yen yen. Sitting comfortably in your house spitting trash. How about you go join the army and be posted to Lake chad area.

This is the question I wanted to direct at you and others saying Nigeria should ask for AU troops.
I am already past conscription and recruitment age but how can someone with a functioning brain suggest Nigeria should ask for help from other African countries?

oh Yes we do. HESCO is part of the solution to build better FOBs.

Trenching machines, military bulldozers, prefab concrete barriers. These three are to be provided by Army engineering Corps.

A few UGVs and 20mm gun emplacements activated remotely.

HESCO barrier is about $500 for 15ft if you add cost of sand and equipment hired to handle sand.

Using bulldozers to heap up sand into high dunes and digging trenches using army engineers equipment achieves better at a fraction of cost.

It's very clear our military needs help but some idiotic self deluding fellows keep decieving themselves. They think calling for assistance means calling the Military useless, even the US with all its resources would hardly go into any war w/o alliance(s) talkmore of Nigeria that is still struggling to consistently spend $1bn yearly solely for procurements/upgrades. Is it not 2 weeks ago COAS was complaining bitterly about the slashing of army's budget yet we shouldn't seek for help anywhere we could. Even soldiers on ground will tell you they will welcome the idea of getting reinforcement from regional blocs even if it means them holding the fort along border towns.
As for the ewures shouting that we only amplify bad news, so we should keep quiet when soldiers die because they're not human beings with families. In the US death or casualties of soldiers can bring a gov't down but in Nigeria we should hush it all up and amplify BHT casualties as if the lives of those renegades equates to that of soldiers.
Well!!! The cycle continues..

Nigerian military only needs money.
The money required does not even break the bank.
The resources in terms of men required, Nigeria has it in orders of magnitudes more than many African countries combined.

Most people calling for outside help in Nigeria come from "trading" backgrounds. Well, sorry war is not okirika market stuff. If your brain can't process higher stuff then no need for comments.

Let me shove the map of Africa in your face and ask you to choose where the "men" to fight will come from.
Ethiopia is being destroyed as we speak

Southern African countries are bogged down in Mozambique and great Lakes issues.

Chadian Army is less than 30,000 men.

Niger Republic Army is so small, it should be illegal - less than 12,000 men

Cameroon Army is also very small.

All other West African countries are fighting radical Islamic terrorists.

Nigeria has demonstrated the capacity to train 8000 men in six months.

Nigeria will fix its security issues. You guys should face your second hand clothes business.

It is other African countries that will save the lives of our soldiers.
220m Nigerians and another African country of 10m people would have to send 2000 men to help you fight Boko Haram of less than 10,000 highly mobile fighters.

Please drop your phone or laptop and think.

It is because young people think like this in Nigeria that I will never vote anyone below 45 years of age ağain for a long time.

Education is important. You are not educated.
7.3m/20 = N365000 per year
This is equal to N30,000 per month.

House acquisition is life time investment and this calculation is showing that a person on minimum wage will pay back in 25 years assuming he only gets promoted 5 times in his working life.

Think before you post. Brains were given for a reason. Even if they are paying you 5k a month to post negative about govt, use your brains do that you give quality service to those paying you

Negative. Hesco bags over barbed wires all day. Even in the counter attack at bonny Island, 1967, barbed wires were extremely detrimental.
Barbed wires in Metele, Borno led to the death of numerous of our troops. A truck go stuck in the barbed wire and blocked the passage of troops and vehicles leading to the death of good men.
We need Hesco bags not pure barbed wires.

We don't need HESCO bags.

It's high time we rally support from ECOMOG and AU or even the UN to come assist us with both men and equipment; if we can rally about 10,000 contingents of these regional forces to take on these terrorists head-on it will go a very long way in this war. It's getting obvious that the military is overwhelmed/overstretched coupled with the fact that they're heavily underfunded especially the Nigerian Army. We should tuck in this big brother abi na giant of Africa mantra in our pockets and seek for assistance anyway and anywhere we could this war has already lingered for too long we can't build a nation in a perpetual state of internal-war.

This is an absolutely bad idea. Pls in every field that has an established profession with processes and standards, always keep SHUT with the layman common sense stuff that people have thought about and dismissed or tried and failed.
Besides there is already MNJTF in place.

AU nations are lacking in the basics of military resources to provide assistance to Nigeria.

It is going to be so expensive as to potentially swallow the entire defense budget.

Pls calculate it yourself; salary and allowances and aircraft cost to provide rotation for just 10,000 troops from ten African countries.
It is the height of Nigerian stupidity. Very bad idea informed by social media escalation of a few developments on the battlefield.

What Nigeria needs is more CJTF, more training for CJTF and more creative defending of towns unsing CJTF as the military are about to start their offensives.

For Nigerian observers of the war on social media, when you read about a new development, quickly look at a map of the theatre and get more info to understand what the big picture is.
Do some thinking about what ISWAP and Nigeria are trying to achieve

Could you provide us with any literature to prove trenches are outdated or you could simply explain why it won't work against ISWAP or BH.
In the flatlands that the northeast is, elevation isn't much of an advantage when you can see kilometers away while on level ground. Both sides will see each other several minutes before they can engage each other. Except of course the highlands near the mandara mountains.
Also, as long as you have a clear line of sight and your aim is true, you will hit your targets conveniently.

Thank you. I have just asked that kid that question. Only a kid posts such nonsense

One of the first to things I noticed about our forward bases is that we are still in this millennium shockingly, "Digging Trenches" that is so outdated. The next you notice we have no "Elevation"

So you see the enemy when he is almost on top of you.

A 50 cal. Rifle will still need elevation to have the advantage.
Another lie - digging trenches is outdated. Who told you so. Did you learn such nonsense from a video game?

Again....

If most attacks come from lake Chad region....
Why can't the military gather a reasonable number of men and ammunition and try to set up a barricade between lake Chad region and the rest of town/Nigeria. And probably set up offensive from there.

I don't want to even ask why the military don't want to start and sustain an onslaught against these guys. Why must we always wait for them to come and attack and run away. Abi iswap dey sleep for air.

As big as northern Iraq is, Iraqis military and civilian forces moved house to house routing out Isis till they left Iraq.

If its the forces the military need, they should petition national assembly. We have thousands of youths willing to join the army.

Mobilize massive forces and attack lake Chad region.
Is that rocket science.

Igboho was actively canvassing for the dissolution of Nigeria. He threatened on video to kill anybody participating in the democratic process. He threatened to depose Obas. His so-called efforts to protect Yorubas from criminals from outside the country and Fulani militia is nothing new. Almost every state in Nigeria has vigilante outfits that work with Police and receive support from them. Youths in Borno State are doing ten times more than Igboho ever did in combating Boko Haram via their CJTF. So you must work under established structures to be a vigilante.

In summary, we should desist from lies even if they are sweet. Igboho and Kanu on tape, on video and in actions committed crimes.

I keep seeing posts proving posters have no clue the weapons system they're cheerleading. After all this time we STILL see forumers "explaining" how a flight of Sue 30 will change the situation in the NE or how a couple of minisubs will redraw the strategic situation in the Gulf of Guinea by denying mighty Cameroonian patrol boat Grebe success to the Bight of Benin and similar examples of sea denial.
Guys, weapons and weapons platforms must be FIT FOR PURPOSE! No matte how weirdo or outlandish they may seem they MUST perform a clear function, a definite purpose.
Behold, the assault revolver, the rsh-12!?

Yes! There is a revolver firing the giant 12.7x55 mm round. Ofc, there's a very SPECIFIC purpose- punching through walls and body armour to put DOWN terrorists WITH one shot- and one hand as the other usually holds a ballistic shield.

https://modernfirearms.net/

The concept makes MUCH sense: despite what movie's tell us pistols, even tricked out specops handguns evidence failure to feed. Revolver with much fewer parts are more reliable. The giant round is so powerful a solid hit ESPECIALLY at typical close room distance would dismember the victim- therefore the revolver makes sense in AT ops. In a traditional P2P 1st world battle space like Russia vs W Europe, our AS/ KDF or ISWAP/NA engagements it would be as useless as gills on a lion!
The rsh-12 exemplifies how tactical NEED influences the weapon-NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. I hope the idea that weapons are tailored to the tactical situation is now clear.
GASSPPP! There are now carbine versions available for civvy hunters.
100% agree with you.

According to Dearsan's post on Linkedin on 3 October, the Turkish shipyard has secured an agreement with the Nigerian Navy to build two offshore patrol vessels.
Naval News Staff 05 Nov 2021

Dearsan stated on the social media:

“Our Shipyard will build 2 units of 76 m OPV (76 meter Offshore Patrol Vessel) within the scope of the contract signed with the Nigerian Navy. The OPV’s, which have been configured in line with the Nigerian Navy requirements, will be designed and build entirely within our shipyard’s capabilities and equipped with indigenous systems.”

The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the Nigerian Navy within 37 months.

The ships will be outfitted with indigenous sensors and systems, according to the agreement, but the details of the systems and subcontractors have not been disclosed by the signatories.

We as Nigerians quickly forget our past.

Any goddam new procurement of vehicles, we celebrate blindly without careful deep thinking.

So we celebrated 43 T-72 tanks 7 years ago but today 7 years after celebration, Nigeria's insecurity is worse.

All these unarmed light armoured vehicles without guns long range night vision sensors, will be fitted with same old DShK or W85 that has failed to give security to all 36 states and FCT.

320 unarmed STANAG 1 & STANAG 2 vehicles are not war winners. You may keep celebrating like this for another 20 years. They turn you to their drummer boy dancers while big men get rich from each procurement grin

All these 100 Dongfeng, 100 Bigfoot, 60 Legion, 60 Type 89 tracked are simply replacements for heavy attrition losses Nigerian Army is suffering for Steyr APC tracked, MTLB tracked, MRAPs of Bigfoot, Caiman, REVA, etc destroyed by IED, RPG, DShK, etc. You need to visit Nigerian Army scrap vehicle bone yard or Zamfara to Borno terrain graveyard of destroyed NA armoured vehicles to see how many vehicles we have lost to enemy action.

Tuareg & Tebu Mali Bandits, Kanuri Boko Haram, Sahel & Sahara ISWAP, Senegal & Nigér Fulani Bandits have already done infantry tactical flanking maneuver turn corner sidetrack & bypass Nigerian Army containment barrier troop battalions to invade reach Kaduna, Benue, Niger, Abuja, down to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, they now have access to all our 36 states & FCT.

Like ISOTREX Phantom and KIA KLTV failed, so Dongfeng with DShK will NOT save us in our 923,000 km² land mass giant size, we need new armoured vehicles in several thousands spread across all 774 local government areas to trully end insecurity nationwide.

This is just - 320 + 320 = 0 Progress

How could you waste so many words posting such nonsense? . There is no economy in it at all. This is not a cost effective post

The picture you posted is on the heavy IFV variant which we don't know if Nigeria got. For context, the is the "skeletal" 12.7mm/40mm RCWS we were talking about. You can also see it operation in this video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=308cDCJJTCc

These systems are $180k at the very least. The vehicle on its own is just about $220k. I am not sure Nigeria would have gotten one RWS per vehicle. I acknowledge the advantages of RWS for laying cover fire from inside the vehicle during ambush and ability to work in a sniper infested battle field that pins down most manual gunners but I think RWS should be one per six vehicles
