I dey hail the gurus in da house(imperioux,big francis and co).I want to say a big thank you as you helped me and instructed me on what to do,I am through with all the hassles (filling ds-160,paying sevis and booking) but the issue at stake now is :
1) My uncle who is my sponsor printed his bank statement and the balance was 4.7million, but on the i-20 it was stated that the money to budget for first year expenses is $51,000,will his balance jeopardize my chance of getting visa?
2) I am going to the interview with his photocopied certificate of incorporation and articles of memorandum, hope photocopies are accepted?
Thanks as I look forward for my interview.

Response to your 1st Question: You will get an AUTOMATIC DENIAL at the US Embassy due to INSUFFICIENT FUNDS, if you show the VO your sponsor's Bank statement which is BELOW the required amount Needed as First year Expenses.

You said your uncle has #4.7m. And your school needs $51,000 which when converted to Naira, you get #8.3m.

You can see your sponsors's funds is BELOW the required amount Needed as first year expenses. So Pls get a Bank Statement that exceeds #8.3m Plus.

Response to your 2nd question: Photocopies of documents are NOT acceptable @ the US Embassy. They will demand to see the ORIGINALS.

Besides, There is nothing to worry about with your second question, the VOs hardly demand to see such documents you listed above. The Most important document they will likely request from you is your sponsor's Bank statement.

So Pls Work on the Bank statement.

NB: You will find it much difficult to convince the VO well enough why your UNCLE is willing to spend such a HUGE amount of money on your education. Seriously speaking, that school is veryy veryy expensive. Try to secure one form of tuition waiver, scholarships, e.t.c,, so you stand a better chance of securing your US student Visa with that kind of school.

webstradamus: US Air is genuine. Delays happen with every airline especially during winter when you will be arriving. But hey, whats the hurry? I found Sun Country for $140 on Kayak so you might want to check that out. One thing you must understand though is that you have to pay for checked-in luggage outside of the airfare (and this is the norm for domestic flights).

Regarding the other issue, I spoke to the guy and I should get some feedback soon. Will reply your email then.

I intend purchasing my flight ticket from JFK NewYork to Minnesota. Their flight ticket is veryy cheap. Got flight from JFK NewYork to Minnesota in their website for $205.

I have been reading lots of reviews about em on the internet and peeps have been complaining about their poor service, delay of flight e.t.c

Pls whoever has used them before should pls shed more light on this. OR if anyone here can recommend any other better airline I could take from JFK NewYork to Minnesota and cheaper one like this, please drop your views, I strongly appreciate. Thanks.

This is a delicate question, one has to be careful what they say as not to inspire more question.

Yes, you are right, you have to be careful in whatever you say, so as NOT to encounter more questions from the VO..

But this case is different bro.. No matter what, pls NEVER tell the VO that you applied to Only One school, the VO will see you as someone who is NOT ready to study.. They will NAIL you DOWN with that!

They have a way of detecting the SERIOUS students from the UNSERIOUS ones.

Think about it this way, Assuming you were a VO for instance, and i walk over to the counter for my visa interview and you asked me how many schools did i apply to? And i relied you by saying i applied to Only one school.

And another student for example like Bigfrancis, walks up to the counter for his visa interview as well, and told you he applied to 12 schools,

Pls tell me, who looks more serious to study among the both of us?

I guess you will pick on Bigfrancis.. So u see for yourself.

Only few that say they applied to ONLY one school scaled through with luck on their part, but many others get DENIED...

This is what you will do; Example;

VO: How many schools did you apply to?

Your Response : 4 schools Sir/Ma.

VO: Mention them;

Your Response: Eastern Kentucky University, University of Maryland, University of Illinois, University of Washington.

VO: How many admits?

Your Response; 3 admits.

VO; Can i see the admission letters of the schools that admitted you?

Your Response; I only came wth my Desired school's admission letter, Since i have chosen the school as where i could accomplish my academic career, so i felt it wasn't necessary for me to bring the other school's admission letters along..

(Someone on here on NL, i cant remember his/her ID, but bck in previous pages, He/she used this response above and the VO understood once and the VO didn't make any remarks on that and she still got her Visa)

So you can see bro, No need to get nervous over Nothing. They hardly demand to see the admission letters of other schools.. They Know you will come along with what concerns you, which is the school's i-20 and admission letter you intend attending.

The VO that interviewed me asked me how many schools did i apply to?; and i replied - 4, and she said mention them, and i was mentioning them to her and was on the 3rd school and i was about to mention the last one, and she cut me off, (she wanted to Nail me down with that question, she asked that question to know if the schools i applied to: were all located in the same city or state in the US, which is a big RED FLAG)

But trust me, the 3 schools i mentioned, were all located in different states in the US...

So you see, the VOs DON'T care. They have just few minutes to make a Decision on your Visa application, and they dont have time to start scrutinizing unnecessary admission letters you came along with.

They only want to see your seriousness and Readiness to study..

Simple!!!!!

IF you havn't received the ORIGINAL score report sent to your home address, then you can make use of the online one printed out from your GRE account...

It doesn't matter if it is black and white or coloured.. Just print any type you want.. But if u ask me, i will choose the coloured.. It looks more presentable..

Yes, you can do that on your Online DS 160 form..

Find the form below;

But you need to have your i-20 at your finger tips to fill this form.. You will need to include some details on your i-20 to the DS 160 form.

After you fill your DS 160 form, Submit it and make sure you print out your DS 160 confirmation page. As you wiill need this confirmation page on the day of your interview.

That reminds me, what method did you use in receiving your i-20 package?

Hope it is a courier service.

Yea, it's a private uni, but they give lots of scholarships to international students to make college education much affordable compared to some uni's in the US that dont even give any penny or some form of scholarship to int'l students.

Most schools in the US have soccer team. Sport and extra-curriculum activities is important for every student and most schools make this facility available to them..

So concentrate more on getting the scholarship. Then when you get your scholarship, and you hopefully get your visa and travel to the US, during your school Orientation service, talk to one of the International centres and let em know the talent you possess in playing soccer. They should be able to get you into their team..

Everythin na step by step, you shall get there!

Pls try to do at least a standardised test.. We're privileged to be the only school in US that offers that course..

bigfrancis21: I'm glad you realizad this on time. Please don't use them, Kaplans especially. The man solved rather too simple questions in his book which when you're solving will make you erroneously see yourself as a genius, only to enter the exam hall and be hit right on the head with the opposite stark reality of the exam.

To get the materials, send an empty email(empty as in no heading, no body content) to selfstudy360@gmail.com and you'll get an automatic email response containing the download links of Grubers and Barrons. Click on each link to download them.

And please take your time to prepare. Don't be in a hurry to go and write the exam. A good GRE score requires quality investment of your time and practice.

You are very right on point bro.. The same happened to me as well when i took my SAT.

I prepared with both Kaplan and collegeboard textbook for my SAT, and when i took the exam, i noticed the questions were much more difficult in the Real exam than the ones i saw on the Kaplan textbook..

I saw fire on my exam day.

Thank God for the collegeboard i used in preparing for the exam as well too, because i was familiar with most of the question formats due to the help of collegeboard textbook. IF NOT i for don enter the exam hall and be looking like a LEARNER.

Kaplan Textbook won't challenge students enough... One's score will suffer if u believe all what you read on kaplan textbook.

Kaplan will make it look like say na ABC you wan solve on exam day.


TIPS: To all SAT exam takers, pls prepare with the COLLEGEBOARD textbook.. Collegeboard are the real people that set the exam questions. So the questions you prepare with your collegeboard textbook will look EXACTLY like the ones you see on the exam day....

I think I saw it coming when he mentioned that he didn't include on his DS160 form that he's married but he intends to mention it to the VO as part of his evidence of strong home ties, which is inconsistency. My only problem was that I saw that his particular post late and replied late - I replied on his day of interview.

I suspect so too BOSS.. I remember him mentioning something here about him being married and peeps told him it was inconsistency since he didn't include it on his DS 160 form..

I just hope our guess is Wrong, but i know assuming his visa was APPROVED, he would definately have alerted us here out of excitement since peeps rendered him so much help here...

They give scholarships to students with your score range..

A friend of mine who scored BELOW what you had in the SAT, got scholarship to howard university and he is already in the US studying there...

You can try em out too as well...

olu16: @walspring if you are going for fall u can check out southern arkansas i think its 1300 SAT for full scholarship. Saw it on their website onetime. Except im mixing it up with a different school

And then someone i know said she hot abt 15k worth scholarship from east tennesee ( sat and essay) never checked their website just second hand info

Congrats on ur score, if i may ask what materials did u use to prepare and how long?

DONT get it twisted bro... Most schools in the US will ask for that kind of score you mentioned above for a FULL ride scholarship or partial if you have that score which is 1300 in the Critical Reading and Maths sections..

They dont include the Writing section of the SAT, because they feel that section is as good as a Bonus to students..

This is how the SAT is being graded;


Critical Reading - 800

Maths - 800

Writing - 800


Total score - 2400..


A perfect score is scoring 1600/1600 in both Critical Reading and Maths section OR scoring 2400/2400 for the Overall score.

So if one can have a score which ranges from 1300 - 1600 in both the Critical Reading and Maths section, you can qualify for a FULL scholarship to most schools in the US that give scholarships to international students..

Contact your desired school and know their requirements for International Students Scholarship Application.

But seriously speaking, that kind of score no easy to get ooo. Unless say ur brain is like dt of a computer, then u can try it out, but if ur brian no fit carry dt kind score, no kill urself oooo, make person brian no go BLOW with Heavy load capacity.

This also goes out to all prospective undergraduate students wishing to study in the US. Please take the SAT. It will help you alot.

@Walspring is a perfect example of a serious student!!!! This is someone who has even left high school since 2004, and he still Aced the exam. So if he can do it, you too can do it as well. Nothing is impossible!

The VO will still need to see your sponsor's Bank statement just incase your GA is being withdrawn from you. So the VO will want to know if you are still capable of taking care of yourself without the GA (if it is being withdrawn from you) that is why they will need to see your sponsor's Bank Statement.

Also, the amount that will be required for your sponsor to have on his bank statement is written BOLDLY on your i-20..

So you will need to provide the exact amount of the total expenses required for a year written on your i-20 OR you provide more than the amount required.

For Example; If your school requires $20,000 as first year's expenses as written on one's i-20 even when you have a GA, you will need to show a Bank statement of $20,000 OR above that amount. Getting a bank statement starting from $28,000 upwards will be a good bet for that range of the example i stated..

NB: Your Bank statement must show a flow of cash and enough transactions.. The Bank statement should be comprehensive enough. It is strongly recommended for one to carry atleast a 6 months old bank statement to the embassy because that looks more comprehensive enough and enough history on transactions on the bank statement which would be ACCEPTABLE @ the US Embassy.

The Best Response to that question is;

If my visa is being DENIED sir, i will burn the Embassy down.. and i will execute Al queda group 5th Batch, and give one of the spokesmen of Boko haram a call for them to throw a Nuclear BOMB to the US Embassy..

So Pls, Mr Visa Officer, Hope you have a Re-think on my Visa application..

If you get mind, give em that response above, and your life shall Never remain the same again.
