Babs911: Am scared to hear about 90days rule pls can u explain better on it because I have a month interval to my interview and school resumption. What's the implication of this to my visa?Since you have Just One month to your Interview and school resumption date. Then i will say you have No worries bro. You are good to Go!!! And it is NOT 90 days rule. It is 120 DAYS rule. Which means for example, If your School resumes on the 13th of January. Count 120 DAYS backwards.. When we do that calculation, We arrive at 15TH of SEPTEMBER. So any moment from SEPTEMBER 15th upwards will be the period your application for a Student VISA will be Considered ACCEPTABLE @ the US Embassy.. But if you get your Student Visa in September for example, which is 4 months before your school resumption date, you wont be allowed to Enter the US Until 30 days before your school resumption date.. Which Means, for example your School resumes on the 13th of January, Count 30 days backwards. When you do that, you will arrive at 14th of December. So from 14th of December upwards will be the period you will be allowed to Enter the United States Of America and be granted clearance @ the Port of Entry in the US.. So you all should be Mindful, in other NOT to get deported back to Nigeria after wasting money on Flight Ticket.. Also, You should be mindful for the 120 days rule for Visa Interview so you DON'T also get AUTOMATICALLY DENIED a Student Visa @ the US Embassy due to your inability of NOT obeying the Rules. Cheers... |
imperiouxx: Can you post the link? However, If you're sure it's 120 days, then you should be fine. It was 90 days before. It has been changed bro. It is 120 days... Which is 4 months.. Read the "Schedule an interview" section of the link below; www.travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html |
Walecrsyler: @Ricky RozayYou are Highly welcome bro.. #Noted. I will get back to you asap. Pls can u edit your post so you don't get Banned, the moderator doesn't like anyone dropping of contacts here.. Cheers bro.. |
olu16: Hi guys please I just wanted to find out if there's any hope for my sis. She just started her application process to schools in the US. My dad only has abt 2000$ in his salary acct currently, because he just purchased property and we printed his statement for 6 months with about 12m creditYour Post is actually long as u have stated but it didn't seem to contain the useful datas we need in knowing what to Do with your sister's case. 1. Is your sister studying in Nigeria already or she studied in the UK before? 2. What level is she going for? Bachelor's or Masters? 3. How much did your sister's School require as first Year expenses? 4. Since she Registered with EducationUSA, why didn't EducationUSA tell u all this things you asked? 4. Which school did she apply to? Hope it's Not a Community college. |
godG: There is a thread on this in the Travel Forum too. However; unlike registered mail, a regular mail is like an orphan going on journey to a strange land. Whatever happens to him in the course of his journey is nobody's headache. Copied?Hahahahahhahahaha. Lol. You got that right on point!!!!!!. I have innitially explained the difference to him in my previous post... |
Walecrsyler: Good day house. Pls I need an urgent response to this question . I sent my statement of account and othe r requirement to my school in order to get my I 20. But immediately I printed the statement at the bank and sent it to the school, the next day I withdrew some amount from the bank account. Pls I just want to know if schools usually confirm the account balance from the bankYou have No worries bro.. You are Good. Schools Won't confirm how much you or your Sponsor has in his/her Bank Account Presently.. Schools will also be looking @ the Flow of cash on the bank statement, they will want to know how much is been deposited frequently in the account to know if it is active and by that, they will use it to measure if you can pay for tuition. IF your school is the type that Verify Bank Statement, The Only thing they will do is to confirm from the Bank the AUTHENCITY of the Bank Statement.. This happened to me as well. My sponsor had a bank balance of #1.5m as of May and the school Required a Bank Balance of #3.5million. I was lucky that my sponsor had a Balance of #3.9m as of March so I printed the Bank statement for March with the required amount and sent it to my school for admisson in May. The School emailed me and told me they will be Authenticating my Bank statement. In about a month after that, I got ADMITTED to that same school even though I didn't have the required amount at present in the account.. So you can see, schools will only ask about the Aunthencity of the Bank account holder, if it exist OR is Real. But they won't ask the Bank how much you have at present at the moment the admission is been processed.. Cheers.. |
Graviton: My schools sent me the application forms along with a common proof of funds form, problem is: they left a space for my parents and sponsor to fill in the assured and projected sum of money they were willing to pay...my parents are not the ones sponsoring my education, it's an aunt of mine.Since you Aunty is your Sponsor, then take the forms to your Aunty and let her fill and Sign in the appropriate areas demanded.. She is Your Sponsor and NOT your parents. So she will be Required to fill the appropriate forms and sign. Be careful what you do here, so you don't complicate issues for yourself by making the school make mistake on your i-20 when u get admitted by putting your parents as sponsor instead of your aunt. So be Mindful!!!!! |
seunolumonday: But as a married woman if i want 2 come home during holls nko or wen d skool is on breakAs a Married Woman, I don't see you staying in the US for too long without coming home to see your family. You will most definately be visiting home Frequently. So you need to book for a Return ticket. But make sure you know the ACTUAL month (if possible, the date) your school goes on hols, so you don't end up booking for a wrong date and canceling your flight date and paying extra charges for it.. Confirm from your school the month you will be on holiday. So when buying your ticket book a return ticket for that same month you are going on hols. Cheers.. |
Tochium: Pls what is the difference between Nipost Registered Mail and the regular Nipost Mail delivery? How can I use the Nipost Registered Mail? I want to send my account statement to Utah State UniThe difference between the two is the Tracking Number you will get when you choose to use Nipost REGISTERED Mail. By Using Nipost Registered mail, you will be given a Tracking number to enable you track your package. But if you choose to use Nipost Mail delivery, you WON'T be given a tracking number. You will only pray with faith that your package gets there without any troubles. Because in case trouble comes, you won't have any Tracking number to assist you in tracking your package and knowing it's current location. And another thing you should know is that there is just a slight difference in price between the two. For example, Using Registered mail to send package could cost you #600. But when you choose to use Nipost Mail Delivery, it will cost you #500.. So no much difference in their prices. Many people use the Registered mail to send packages abroad, it is the safest.. If you use Nipost Mail Delivery, your package will still get to it's destination in the US but it's always good to play safe to avoid stories that touch. So I STRONGLY advice you use NIPOST REGISTERED mail to send your Bank statement to Utah State University. Cheers.. |
seunolumonday: One way abi,as a student is it possible 2 book a return ticketYES for one way.. As a Student you DON'T need to book a return ticket since you are NOT returning anytime soon.. So Book ONLY One-way Ticket to your Destination... |
Hey house! I hail o. Pls who knows a cheap airline to newyork. I heard air maroc is cheap. Any ideas unto how much it will cost? Thanks.
Fly emirate is the Cheapest to NewYork if you book in advance like 2 to 3 months before your intended date of Departure. If you book early enough as I stated above with fly emirate, you can get flight to JFK NewYork for as low as #136,000. Check out their site - www.emirates.com/uk/english/index.aspx?stop_mobi=yes |
Graviton: Please I'd like to get some facts down: I am currently filling my admission application form and my secondary schools(Junior & Senior) are about to send my transcripts and recommendations... is it okay for my transcripts and recommendations to get there before my admission application and essaysWhy can't u take it one step at a Time.. First Step - Apply for admissions. Then mail your admission application and essays to the school.. AFTER doing the above mentioned, then inform your US school by email that your high school will be sending your transcript and recommendations to them soon so they will be expecting it. Also, make sure you correctly write your FULL Name in the email you sent them for easy identification and for them to locate your file and make remarks on pending documents which will be received soon @ their Office. Do it that way, it is much better and organised in that manner. Because by doing so, they will start creating a file for you there and as soon as they receive your transcript and recommendation letters, they will add it up to your file which will make it much easier for em to locate and run your admission processing as fast and as efficient as possible without making things more complicated.. Regarding mailing of documents to schools in the US, the best method and most RELIABLE means of them all is by using FEDEX, UPS, DHL,TNT, EMS or any other Private courier to mail your admission package to the school which will get there within 4 working days.. But the only issue is the amount they charge for this service. Depending on the weight of the package, the least they charge ranges from 12k and above to send documents to the US. DHL is the Most Expensive for Both Sending and Receiving. But the cheapest of them all is EMS, they charge as low as 7k to send packages to the US depending on the weight of the package. But another option you can use is NIPOST Registered mail, if you don't have much money on you. They are also Reliable for sending packages to the US but they are NOT Reliable for Receiving packages from the US to Nigeria. I used Nipost Registered Mail to send my admission package to 3 schools in the US and I paid Just ONLY #700 for each package I sent, and all packages were received by my US schools in just 8 working days. Some peeps here also used Nipost to send packages to the US and they don't encounter any troubles. Just Make sure you correctly write your US school's Full address.. Cheers. |
Walspring: I got a new I-20 today via fedex but am still expecting another I-20 soon... Someone should please let me know anytime dates are available US embassy...Hw far bro. Hw's ur admission processing going. Hv u applied to those schools I gave u? And which schools i-20s r u talking about? |

paparazzi1987: Thanks.You'v got mail bro.. |
nomso27: thanks alot ricky rozay. . . .isnt it dv-2014 starting oct 1st ?2014 DV lottery has elapsed, it was played Last year. But this year's DV- lottery is for DV-2015.. Nigeria is NOT eligible to play for this year's Dv-2015 lottery which will commence on the 1st of October 2013. |
nomso27: Good morning house. . .No sir, DON'T apply for any Visa lottery while intending to go to the US Embassy soon. Just to be on a safer side. Besides, Nigeria Is NOT eligible to play the 2015 DV lottery program which will begin on the 1st of October. Whoever tells you there is any alternative for the lottery for Nigerians this year is a Big SCAM! Be Warned! |

sannytex: i hell all d gurus in d house imperioux and ordas.i am having diffecutist now,and i am confuse where to book my appointment if lagos or abuja.i ve gotten my 1.20 and pay for my sevis in d u.s d school dat gave me admission is NOrtheastern state university,i still want to if it is a red flag in d embssy.pls help me out in dis.i just wana be sure on what am doing.thanx for everything d helps u guys are giving here God will reward u all.Calm down bro. You are on the right Track. Your school is a state university which is funded by the government and DEFINATELY a good and ACCEPTABLE school @ the Embassy. So nothing for you to worry about. Also, Regarding the appoinment location issue, my brother I will advice you choose any location closer to your home of residence. If you stay in lagos, Book your appointment in Lagos, and vice-versa. Location of Embassies doesn't determine the rate of Visa success! I have seen so many peeps get DENIED @ Both Lagos and Abuja Embassies and I have also seen many peeps get their Visas APPORVED @ both Lagos and Abuja as well.. So, you can see it is a 50-50 chance. It's all God's Favour you need. Just pick the one that will be more convenient for you. And make sure you prepare hard for the interview by reading from part 1 of this thread and read different success stories of peeps, so you can get to learn and tackle some issues and get familiar with the Interview questions and Fomats and you also get the golden opportunity of building your confidence by doing so. You should be Fine... Cheers bro.. |
imperiouxx: Int'l students only work off campus during breaks as in internship or during CPT/OPT. Apart from all these, I won't dispute it that the person might be tired of snacking on burger and like to snack on more Garri lebu + sugar.Okay. Cool. Thnx bro... |
lisadem: Correct but guess off campus during CPT or OPTThanks for clarifying that out bro.. #Noted! |
valentino81: what of the age range btw 31-35 yrs going for Masters? Any complication? If both Toefl and GMAT has been taken and well passed?Masters is an Advanced degree, so in other words, it won't call for any restriction of age limit.. You must really be on point, for taking both TOEFL and GMAT.. That's veryy good. You are Good to go bro... |
imperiouxx: Yes it's very possible if you like to be sent back home immediately you are caught. But I thought students are PERMITTED to work on campus during term hours and can work off campus during holidays... Is that not the law in the US? |
JFdENIGMA: I feel I owe this house a beef, sorry, I mean a brief after receiving my GRE score. You murdered that GRE mehn.. Congrats bro.. Those your schools na die ooooo.. Which of the MSU are you talking about? |
Tochium: What about a 25 year old going for Undergrad?25 year old is almost of the same range with those going for masters as well. But a 25 year old person can still stand a high chance of getting his/her visa if the person can prove to the VO by showing Strong Genuiness and willingness to study. I am not talking of those students going for undergraduate studies between the ages of 26 to 29 and Won't bother taking any standarlized test and they will still expect Magic to happen at the Embassy. A BIG NO NO... RED FLAG! So, Like for example, taking standarlized test like SAT or ACT and NOT just taking them for the sake of doing so but must try to perform brillantly well in them. The sky will be your limit if the person can do this. The following age range is the perfect age for students wishing to study in the US; UNDERGRÀDUATE: AGE; 16 - 23 MASTERS: AGE; 24 - 30. Note: If any of your ages doesn't fall in between the above illustration and you intend going for any of the following listed above. There is No cause for alarm. Just sit yourself down and work on how to build a strong profile. Which will sound good and acceptable to the VO which I have illustrated on my previous post. Then you should be good to go. Cheers.. |
dolapobello1: Bro are you sure about this?Oh sorry my bro jare.. It was a mistake.. Na too much palm wine cause am.. Lol!!! I meant to write SAT or ACT for undergraduate studies. Thanks for alerting me... #Corrected... |
kelvin50: Tankz ricky rozay nd d-tus @ ricky guys dat were denied were they told d reason for their denial waz their age or u js guessd soSee One thing you need to know is that, MOST VOs won't spell it out to your face the reason for your Denial. They can't even tell you it is because of your age. They will expect you to keep applying and wasting more money on Visa fees while they make more money on it. But only the smart ones will code the reason for their denial through the VOs expression & Reaction to questions been answered. Some peeps who were between the ages of 26 to 28 going for undergrad studies @ the US embassy last month. They narrated their experience to me. They said the VO just asked them three questions. Which were; What is your name?. What course are you going for? How old are You? After that, the next statement he heard from the VO was; Sorry, You do not qualify for a visa at this time, But you can re-apply.............. So you see it my bro. But everyone's case is different sha. But I still use it as a medium to learn New things and cover the loop holes so I don't repeat the same mistake they made twice and still get the same wrong result. Although, Luck might shine on you. But I know veryy much well that your Age will raise a RED Flag @ the US Embassy, and you will see the way the VO will tackle you because they will be expecting you to go for Masters or P.H.D So that's why I illustrated in my previous post, the things that needs to be done, that will enable you sound convincing enough to the VOs and give him/her a very good impression that you are a GENUINE student and promising one who is willing to study at any level and NOT an intending Immigrant who just wants to take advantage of the system to leave and work Permanently in the US. Cheers bro. |
kelvin50: @ Imperiouxx what do u think I can say if d vo asks me y am goin for undergrd @ age 28Do you already have an undergraduate Degree? If YES, Then I will strongly say you should just forget about going for undegraduate studies in the US. Erase it from your mind. Focus more on Masters. Because your age is the perfect age for masters studies in the US. Although I won't say you can't get your visa @ 28 if you go for Undergrad, but my brother, prevention is better than cure, because there are certain things that needs to be DONE to make your visa a success and this depends on you. So you don't end up wasting more time and resources @ the end. I have seen many peeps get denied at the embassy who were between the ages of 26 & 27 and they applied for undergrad studies. Those VOs are turning into something else @ the Embassy this days. But Nothing is Impossible. If you Don't have an undergrad degree yet, But you still insist on pursuing it in the US, then I will say you should try your possible best to ACHIEVE and DO atleast this three things below; 1. Apply to a 4-year University. (State Universities will be HIghly Recommended) 2. Take a standarlized test like SAT or ACT (Make Sure you perform brilliantly well in the test, it also counts as well) 3. Make sure you secure any form of scholarship/tuition waiver from your school. Because, with all this things listed above, you will stand a very very high chance of getting your visa even with that age of yours. Cheers bro. |
Tochium: Hello everyone, is University of Chicago good? A friend of mine is applying to it and wishes to kw if the sch will be a red flag at the embassy. The school is a veryy good school. It is among the TOP universities in the US. But the only issue here is that they have a very Low acceptance rate. Their admission is competitive. So your friend must really worth is onions before applying to that school.. While applying to that school, Let him also consider averagely ranked schools with High acceptance rate, just for him to be on a safer side. Cheers bro.. |
9raCash: The person that paid for me use money order (paid last thrusday) interview is 2moro, no sevis reciept what is the best tin to do now... HELP!!!!!!!The best thing to do @ this moment is to re-schedule your appointment date to later and more convenient time for you when you know you will have settled your sevis fee receipt issue.. But if you are really sure that guy paid your sevis fee for you since last week thursday, you can still go for your visa interview 2morow, who knows it might have been paid but not yet reflected. |
