Islam › Islam And The Quran Promotes'jihad' Or 'holy War' by Rilwayne001(op): 4:20pm On Nov 23, 2013
Misconception: Islam and The Quran promotes
'jihad' or 'holy war'

Background: Some think that the term "jihad" means
"holy war" and it is a requirement which all Muslims
must engage in.

'jihad' is a common Arabic word meaning to strive/
struggle or exert effort, and is used in different ways
depending on context in The Quran. We learn from The
Quran that believers must be willing to exert effort in
the cause of God, using their wealth and themselves.
This effort/jihad may or may not include fighting. It
does not have an exclusive meaning of 'holy war' or
'fighting', as shown below.

An example in The Quran where 'jihad' refers to giving
'effort' as charity as opposed to giving money/objects as
charity:

It is these (hypocrites) who find fault with such of the
believers who give generously in charity, and they find
fault with such believers who have nothing to give but
their effort, God disdains them, and they will have a
painful retribution. [9:79]

An example in The Quran where 'jihad' can mean
parents 'striving' to change the beliefs of their children.
Please note, even in such circumstances believers are
still asked to treat them amicably:

If they strive to make you set up any partners besides
Me, then do not obey them. But continue to treat them
amicably in this world. You shall follow only the path of
those who have sought Me. Ultimately, you all return to
Me, then I will inform you of everything you have done.
[31:15]

In the following verses of The Quran, striving/jihad in
God's cause leading to guidance is contrasted to turning
away from the truth and fabricating lies about God:

Who is more evil than one who fabricates lies and
attributes them to God, or denies the truth when it
comes to him? Is there not a place in Hell for those
who deny the truth? As for those who strive in Our
cause, We will guide them to Our paths. For God is with
the pious. [29:68-69]

The only time a 'great jihad' is mentioned in The Quran
is in the following verse and it refers to striving against
those who deny the truth with the message of truth:

And if We wish, We could send to every town a warner.
So do not obey those who deny the truth, and strive
against them with it (The Quran) in a great striving.

Politics › SHINA RAMBO: Former Bandit Who Terrorised South-west Nigeria In The 1990s by Rilwayne001(op): 11:05am On Nov 21, 2013
Shina Rambo (born c. 1963) is a former bandit who
terrorised South-West Nigeria in the 1990s. After
serving jail-time for his crimes, he was converted by
an evangelist and became a Christian evangelical
pastor.Shina Rambo now Mathew Oluwanifemi was a
name that sent shivers down the spine of people
who lived in the South West of Nigeria and even
outside Nigeria, like Benin Republic and
neighborhood, in the 1990’s.
He was a hardened criminal, a terror and killer, one
whom men of the security agencies will never forget
in a haste!
A man mountain, towering about 6ft 5inch, well
built, dark skinned and sweltering eyes, he carried
out his operations, like a movie, in the broad day
light, with sophisticated weapons, and bullet belts
and explosives strapped roundabout him.
He specialized in robbing exotic cars on highways
and banks. Nothing could stop him, not even
security operatives, he was totally invincible. He was
Shina Rambo! He was born in the year 1958 to a
military man who was a bad egg in the service. His
father was from Abeokuta in Ogun state, but his
mother was a native of Sabongida–Ora in Edo state.
His father had over 18 wives, as was the norm for
soldiers to impregnate virtually every woman they
met where they were posted to.His father used his
military influence to rob innocent citizens, and
always brought huge amount of money home.
This used to entice little Shina. He recalls, “I
remembered when I was about 7 years old, my
father came home with a lot of money, foreign
currencies, with blood on it, and they were using
something like a woman’s scarf to wipe it, then I
asked him, is this an animal’s blood, or human
blood? But he wouldn’t answer me, they were just
drinking, smoking, and merry making.
”Shina was already indoctrinated into the
underworld by his father at a tender age of 7
without him knowing it, as he would sit in front of
his son, to dismantle and assemble all sorts of
weapons and then polishing them in preparation for
an operation. This went on for so long till one day,
little Shina, entered into his father’s room while he
had stepped into the toilet, and saw a dismembered
gun on the floor.
He sat down in front of it, and bit by bit, he had
assembled it effortlessly in no time at all. His father
came out of the toilet, and saw his son, with a
loaded gun in his hands. Shina flashed back and
said, “That day my father was so disappointed, that
he wanted to kill me, he grabbed the gun from my
hand and shot straight at me, but I miraculously
escaped out of the room. Then he waited for me to
be less alert at night he came to my room with a
machete and tried to behead me, but once again, I
escaped, but the machete caught my left leg. (rolled
up his trouser to show us the large scar, that made
everyone sighed in pity).
It cut me so deep I thought I was never going to
walk again. That day I knew I had graduated, all that
was left was to pull the trigger, and I was so eager.
Shina Rambo became so notorious in no time, and
was hell bent on succeeding in his career as an
armed robber, that he went through any length to
secure spiritual powers for fortification.
To the extent of pounding over 27 live new born
babies in the mortar with a pestle, cutting off about
100 human tongues and cooking them to eat,
visiting the spiritual river called river of life in Ogoja,
Cross Rivers State, living in an Iroko tree for days,
and sleéping in the cemetery.
He was given a spiritual wife who always followed
him for any operation, she dressed like an Alhaja,
people thought she was human, but she was a spirit,
that was why they never saw her face.
He said she was his personal driver, that she could
drive from Nigeria to Cotonou, in the speed of light.
Hear him. ”I was involved in so many rituals, that I
can’t start naming them now, I was so powerful, I
went underground, inside trees that looked like a
city, a lot of beautiful houses inside the tree, I had
my own too, I went into a river called River of life in
Ogoja, where a lot of politicians and wealthy men
used to come, I had several personalities, I could
change my form whenever I wanted to, that’s why
the police were busy killing innocent people, and
thought they were killing Shina Rambo.
The 9 herbalists that gave me that power, I became
stronger than them, one day I went to their shrines,
and killed all of them, so that they don’t reveal my
secrets. I had too many powers; my spiritual wife
could drive any car in this world or out of it, no
police vehicle, or anyone for that matter, could ever
chase and catch me during an operation.
She was out of this world, and when she had
completed her operation, they took her away from
me. I could give anything to get powers, and the
elders knew, so they also gave me anything I
wanted.I once beheaded hundred men, and gave
them the heads fresh, they were so happy with me
that they made me invincible.
No matter the kind of bullet you shot at me, it was
just like pure water on my body. I could give
anything to get power, but of all the things I did to
get power, the one that still breaks my heart the
most, is sléeping with my mother. My father is dead
now, but my mother is still alive, and she lives with
me she is 85 years old, whenever I set my eyes on
her, I just start crying.
I can`t bear it. Shina Rambo was a raging terror, he
was infallibly dangerous, the police dreaded him,
both in Nigeria, and Benin Republic, his place of
interest for business.
He would go to police stations, in broad daylight
and kill every policeman there, drive to check points
and open fire on every policeman on duty, he didn’t
like the police at all, and was never afraid of them,
he operated in broad day light armed to the teeth
looking like Johny Rambo, in the popular Sylvester
Stalone movie, “First Blood”.
He once robbed 40 exotic cars in one day and
drove all of them in a convoy, from Lagos to
Cotonou, unstopped. He was powerful; he was
wealthy, and impenetrable. He was a tin god,
apparently belched from the very arroyo hell, we all
dreaded him. He had a wife and three children, but
he lost all of them in one day during a bloody police
raid whilst he was away on operation.
His wife was his stabilizing factor his life changed
afterwards. He says “my wife was everything to me,
I was forbidden by the elders to sléep with any
other woman apart from her, I could gather about
50 women around me in a hotel, and they will just
be playing with me, we would smoke, drink, and
sniff cocaine, I will give them money but I will never
sleép with them. I will go back home to my wife and
sleép with her. That was why the police never
caught me. She knew my job, she knew what I was, I
never left them alone at night, I operated in the day
time and go back home to my family at night.
I had everything, I was very wealthy, I once spent
50 million naira in a day. I did it a lot, there was
one day that we were coming from an operation
and it seemed as if my powers were going to fail me,
the police and the army were almost closing in on
us, so we had to drive into a crowd and threw
millions of naira in the air, there was commotion,
everybody was busy picking naira notes even the
police, until we escaped.
I was too rich, but anything the devil gives you
never lasts, he will collect more from you, it’s only
the devil that will give you Fila, (cap) and ask for Iro
and Buba.(wrapper and top). I lost everything, all
the money, my family; I was so powerful the police
couldn’t catch me but I lost it all.I had to surrender
myself to the police, and I was arrested and jailed
for 11 years.
When I was serving my jail term in Agodi prisons,
Ibadan, Prophet T.O Obadare came visiting, and
having been encouraged several times by the
Christian brothers and sisters in the prison to give
my life to Christ, he prayed for me and converted
me, and changed my name to Oluwanifemi, and it
was so miraculous, the next day I woke up and
started speaking in tongues. It was during the time
of President Olusegun Obasanjo, that we were
granted freedom.
At this point, I was glued to my seat, the revival
where Shina Rambo gave this exclusive confession
was on an open ground revival in the ancient city of
Ibadan, right in front of me, on stage, was Evangelist
Mathew Oluwanifemi, the once feared Shina Rambo,
clad in a loose fitting shirt, black pants and a pair of
leather sandals with a black Holy Bible in his hands,
gigantic dark skinned and bald headed, still had
those fiery looks, and stealth movement.
I was more transfixed than focused, God is indeed
awesome, he picked the offering basket raised it to
the congregation prayed and asked who had
anything to give to God, at first I was reluctant, my
mind was occupied and out of an innate
compulsion, sheer curiosity I stood up, dipped my
hand in my pocket walked towards him briskly and
calculatedly brought out my offering, dropped it
into the basket, and looked deep into his eyes, I had
too many things to ask him, there were too many
questions unanswered.
He looked back at me, and spoke in Yoruba, saying
God bless you my brother; we know your type when
we see them. The congregation broke into a mild
giggle, as all eyes were on me as I went back to my
seat, with a lot of things on my mind, and the red
light on my midget still blinking, in the breast pocket
of my jacket… [1]

Politics › Boko-Haram Holding Kidnapped French Priest – Source by Rilwayne001(op): 10:52pm On Nov 15, 2013
Boko Haram is holding a French priest who was kidnapped in northern Cameroon, a source in the banned Nigerian Islamist group said on Friday, rejecting claims of a rift among the insurgents.

“I can confirm that the French priest is in the hands of mujahideen (fighters) from Jamaat Ahl al-Sunna Li Da’wat al-Jihad, who carried out the operation that was co-ordinated with Ansaru,” he told AFP.

Boko Haram prefers to go by the Arabic name, which translates as “People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet’s Teachings and Jihad” (holy war).

The United States on Wednesday listed both Boko Haram and Ansaru as terror groups, bowing to months of pressure to act after years of bloody violence in northeast and central Nigeria that has left thousands dead.

Hours after the declaration, heavily armed men abducted Roman Catholic priest Georges Vandenbeusch from his home near the town of Koza in northern Cameroon, about 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the Nigerian border.

He was seized by about 15 people, who burst into his Nguetchewe parish base, according to the bishop of the Nanterre diocese near Paris, which has authority over the cleric.

The Boko Haram source, who did not want to be identified, declined also to say where the 42-year-old priest was being held, after the Cameroon authorities said they feared he had been taken across the border into Nigeria.

Speaking in Paris after talks with Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbe, French President Francois Hollande said Vandenbeusch had “most likely” been taken to Nigeria.

“We are checking all the information that we can get,” he told reporters, adding that he would speak with his counterpart in Cameroon, Paul Biya, and vowing that France was doing “all it could to find… and free” the priest.

“The fight against terrorism is still our main concern and common purpose,” he added.

Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi described the kidnapping as “an extremely serious and horrible case, reflected the spread of hatred and violence in the region.”

The Boko Haram source promised to reveal more details about the kidnapping “at the appropriate time”.

But he added that claims of rifts within the ranks of the insurgent group, which has been linked to Al-Qaeda’s operations in north and western Africa, were exaggerated.

Boko Haram originally claimed to be fighting for the creation of an Islamic state in northern Nigeria and has made suicide bombing and gun attacks its trademark.

Ansaru has been linked to at least three hostage-takings of foreigners since 2011 and has mentioned French intervention in Mali and European nations’ “atrocities done to the religion of Allah” when claiming kidnappings.

“There is a deliberate attempt by the enemies of Islam to portray Jamaat Ahl al-Sunna Li Da’wat al-Jihad as sharply divided,” the source said.

“What they don’t know or ignore is that the two groups work closely together and most of the operations by the mujahideen are jointly carried out by the mujahideen from both sides.”

AFP tried to verify the Boko Haram claim from other sources but there was no immediate information available from the authorities.

The kidnapping of Vandenbeusch, who had been working in the area for two years and had ignored French government warnings about the dangers of staying in the region, brings to eight the total number of French hostages held worldwide.

Four others are being held in Syria, another in Nigeria and two in the Sahel region on the southern fringes of the Sahara desert.

Islam › Misconception: Islam And The Quran Promotes'jihad' Or 'holy War' by Rilwayne001(op): 8:42am On Nov 15, 2013

So do not obey those who deny the truth, and strive
against them with it (The Quran) in a great striving.

tbaba1234: grin grin Was the Quran distorted too? How do you decide what is distorted and what is accurate.. Is it not that the Quran confirms the truth.

Read the piece carefully..

I. The punishment is not just for changing your religion.

Ii. It is for making a public show of it.

No one will drag you out of your house if you refuse to pray. Just live with your disbelief without disturbing people.

The wisdom in this is simple.

Imagine there are five apostates who left islam discretely without making a show of it this year. Next year, there might just be five more etc .. There is no exponential rise.

If those five make a public show of this.. Next year, there will be 10 or 15 and it grows exponentially.

A perfect example is the growth of homosexuality in the west.

An Islamic state is there to protect the faith and interests of muslims and provide the best environment to practise faith.

The only arguments against this can only be emotional not rational.
Imagine wat you just said, if the xtianx have been practisin the same abeg what will be your reaction?
Islam › Re: Misconception: Death For Apostasy by Rilwayne001(op): 10:59pm On Nov 10, 2013
cloudstar: So, how do we explain verses in the Hadith that state otherwise. For example:

Bukhari, volume 9, #17

"Narrated Abdullah: Allah's Messenger said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Messenger, cannot be shed except in three cases: in Qisas (equality in punishment) for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (Apostate) and leaves the Muslims."

Bukhari, volume 9, #57

Narrated Ikrima, "Some atheists were brought to Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's messenger forbade it, saying, "Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire)." I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Messenger, "Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him."

Bukhari, volume 9, #58

Narrated Abu Burda, "Abu Musa said.....Behold there was a fettered man beside Abu Musa. Muadh asked, "Who is this (man)?" Abu Musa said, "He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism." Then Abu Musa requested Muadh to sit down but Muadh said, "I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and his messenger," and repeated it thrice. Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added, "Then we discussed the night prayers .....

These verses confirm that when a muslim changes his religion, he should be killed. This is contrary to the OPs post. Can anyone shed some light on this
Read the post very well, only the quran is the right source for islamic matters, we cant depend on the hadith bcourse it has been distorted...peace.

There are two Islams in the world today. (1) There is
the Islam of the Qur'an, which is one of the great
religions of the world. It is a religion of peace (not of
pacifism nor of aggression) and of divine justice (not
of divine tyranny nor of divine intimacy). (2) There is
also the Islam of the terrorists, who are murderers and
assassins, especially murderers of their fellow
Muslims. Shiites and Sunnis hate each other for their
"heresies" more intensely than either hates the West. (The London bombings deliberately targeted Muslim
neighborhoods.)
Which of these two Islams (of the Qur'an or of the
terrorists) will prevail? God only knows. But to
whateverextent the first Islam is from God, it will prevail
because God will prevail.
Islam › Misconception: Death For Apostasy by Rilwayne001(op): 5:28pm On Nov 08, 2013
Misconception: Death for apostasy

Background: Some think that once you are a "muslim"
if you decide to change your beliefs you are considered
an apostate, an act punishable by death!

The Quran clearly states there are those who believe
then disbelieve, then believe again, then disbelieve
again. This proves death for apostasy simply did not
exist, because if it did, it would be impossible to believe
again after unbelief, as they would have been put to
death after the first unbelief:

Surely (as for) those who believe then disbelieve, again
believe and again disbelieve, then increase in disbelief,
God will not forgive them nor guide them in the (right)
path. [4:137]

This is further proven by the following verse:
How can God guide a people who have rejected after
believing, and they witnessed that the messenger is true,
and the clarity had come to them? God does not guide
the wicked people. [3:86]

The Quran states, in no uncertain terms, that there is
no compulsion in religion:

Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out
clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in
God has grasped the most sure hand-hold, that never
breaks. And God is Hearing, Knowing. [2:256]

The Quran states that God could have made all those on
earth believe, thus asks who is man to enforce such a
thing if God did not:

And if your Lord had pleased, surely all those who are
in the earth would have believed, all of them; will you
then force men till they become believers? [10:99]

The Quran states there were those who believed part of
the time, then disbelieved part of the time in order to
confuse and sow discord amongst the believers of the
time. If death for apostasy existed, no sane minded
person would attempt to do this as they would be killed
the very first time they tried it:

A section of the People of the Book say: "Believe in the
morning what is revealed to the believers, but reject it
at the end of the day; perchance they may (themselves)
Turn back. [3:72]

Please also see the clear example set out in 4:88-91, in
which the believers are told to offer peace with those
who became hypocrites/apostates (i.e. were Muslim in
name only but did not follow through with action
during hostilities/fighting in this case) if they also offer
peace.

To conclude, it is clear that 'death for apostasy' does
not exist in The Quran. People are free to believe and
live their lives accordingly or not. If a community or
system or any structure deprives its members of this
basic freedom, it will produce hypocrites and
suppressed people who have no strength of belief or
goals to work for and will likely result in a weak system

laplace19: This is why I detest some nairalanders forming rubbish and finding it difficult to appreciate good things from their own people.....

Some will say "rubbish video",some will say "what is wizkid and kcee singing sef"? ,others will say "mtcheewww, what next"?,etc

Whereas they can't even write a song let alone singing it with their rough voice..

The video is fuckingly sweet and funny with the combination of the comedian KIngsley Ogbonna(A.K.A Dauda),Saka and Aki and Paw-paw

Let's learn to appreciate little things like this...

1.I want to know why ISLAM IS ALWAYS ASSOCIATED WITH TERRORISM?

2. Saying bismilahi and allahu akbar before killing and after killing innocent souls respectively?

3. Can someone fight for God?

4. Can people not be allowed to practice other religion freely without hating them?

5. Is it a must they should use force and killing in spreading islam?

6. Is Islam is a religion of peace?
