That's 200k for only me.
I wonder how this same 200k go reach family of 4 for same period Guy, cut down on ur appetite. That u feed with 100k doesn't make those who feed on less malnourished. Eat easy. |

skultrick: Just in case you eventually see this comment, oga the truth is that 400k is very small.
I am a single man, and I over the last 6 months I spend on average 300k.
Mind you I don't have a girlfriend, I don't club, and I don't womanise.
I have to squeeze to spend 300k
So of you have 3 people to feed and very frugal, perhaps 350k would be enough. Which leaves you with 50k savings. No school fees yet.
You main aim should be to earn more that's the only way because inflation is very high and naira is very weak for a country that depends mainly on importation.
Experts are already forecasting a weaker naira in 2024.
You need to start a business, at 1m should do.
To save for a business, find a way to cut down on reoccurring expenses, even if the family have to go hungry for a while. If you can save 150k in the next 6 months you should have almost 1m. My guy, 400k is still NOT small in this Nigeria. Because u spend 300k monthly as a single for whatever reason doesn't make ur assertion the reality for others. |

chiboycue: You are a big boy earning N400,000 per month. Most civil servants in Nigeria do not earn as much as N400,000 per month. You need to cultivate the habit of saving money and fixing the money that you have saved so it can yield dividend for you. Avoid unnecessary expenses. Dont be living in a place where you are paying house rent of 1milion annually. Put your children in a good less expensive public school instead of an expensive private school. You would not have done forex with as much as N2 million. You can do other things like affiliate marketing and blogging inorder to support your income. You need to empower your wife as well. How promising is blogging in supporting one's income? I've tried that before. |

UnfairLife7: FYI, i am not a woman so don't think every average Nigerian man reason or has same mentality as yours. I am not in India so i wouldn't say if the wife cheat or not on the basis of bride price.
Reason why Africa will forever be underdeveloped and remain a 3rd world nation. Same you will change your wack mentality the moment you cross murtala international airport. why don't you take that same mentality with you like MTN, everywhere you go?
Even Bible frown against fornication and adultery for both gender, but an average man from a 3rd world nation said otherwise and you keep wondering why they remain backward, underdeveloped and blessed with useless leaders Your second paragraph is baseless. Man/woman view to infidelity has no preference to geographical locations. The way it's seen in Lesotho is how it's seen in Chicago. |

Sir, with all due respect you're unintelligent. How does getting married to a bad woman relates with what the son said? That he condemned his father coming out to the public saying issues which are meant to be in private. U spoke with the least intelligence actually. A child should NEVER rebuke his father (if you read your Bible), not to talk of making it public. He's got atonements to make. |

Nazgul: 1.7m in Tinubu's Nigeria is rubbish. No thanks to inflation and high dollar rate.
Do you know that at child both a considerable amount of that money would go into the hospital expenses. After being discharged from the hospital, there are still other things you'll have to keep buying.
Baby soap and cream.
Napkins.
Baby milk formular.
Baby clothes.
Routine medical checkup.
Coupled with your regular household expenses.
If he does this consistently for 3 months, that 1.7m would finish. Unrealistic and over exaggerated. |

Car Talk › Re: TOYOTA COROLLA: A Wise Choice Decision To Make In Nigeria Today? by Rinoxy: 6:45pm On Dec 21, 2023 |
GboyegaD: The topic, I have read it over many times and still can't make out the meaning.
The body, not sure I understand the writer's opinion as intended. Is the writing opining that it is a good car to buy because of its low cost of maintenance and fuel saving ability or a bad car to buy because of the high rate of theft/vandalism of the vehicle?
For the last question, I think one's intention of owning a car and one's maintenance budget for a car should guide. I have a Corolla and while the OP stated the maintenance cost is cheap, I do not think so when I compare it to my Honda. At each routine maintenance, there's always something to fix and this is just a 3years old vehicle. Your comment is golden; informative and authentic. A colleague of mine at work changed her Corolla engine for 750k, since then my mind changed. |

harsysky: 10k per month means 120k per year. That plus 140k can give u an accommodation of 260k. That should be the highest rent you can go for if you want to show off Yeah show off, but I can't do such. I started out earning 74k but stayed in a 120k apartment. My choice, because I don't want sleepless nights. |

OCHKESTINE: My former boss advised me to get up to 4 months salary apartment for my family.
To be honest, it's the best decision. Whenever I go to my former area to visit, I see how far I have come and understand that raising my kids their would've messed their psych.
But if u are just starting out, 2 months salary is okay, because u need to have rest of mind when u get home and relax well. To this, it's a matter of doing what works for you and what you're comfortable with, putting preference and location in mind. When I started working some ten years ago, I was earning 74k and living in a house of 120k, then I changed location and rented same kind of apartment for 80k while I was earning 83k. Now I pay 150k rent and my monthly pay can cover that comfortably. So, there are no golden rules to this, do what's good for your current situation as regards factors around you. Peace. |

The north is relatively cheaper in terms of rent. U can't compare with the east, west n south. I stay in Kaduna and a month's salary is more than my annual rent, and it's a two bedroom flat close to the road. |
