Just catching up with the highlights, Miyaichi & Jenkinson looked on point.

My goodness, Vela is the king of the chip-shot. It's not just the sheer number of them he scores, it's the distance/angles from which he scores some of them. Who else lobs a standing goalie from barely 10 yards? It just reminded me of that wonder goal he scored against Sheffield some seasons ago, stunning:

So Wenger is not signing Enrique who wouldn't cost more than the 7m he plundered for Clichy, or anyone else for that matter? The man should be publicly stripped and flogged in his hometown.

I'm surprised nobody scolded that 4llermumu guy when he said that Bergkamp is the only World Class player Wenger has signed. This is what you get with JJC fans. Some elder gaynners should have quietly reminded the young gun that Bergkamp was signed by Bruce Rioch after flopping at Inter Milan.

so in other words if i have a cfw ps3 and a new games comes out requiring a higher ofw that means am screwed and upgrading an ofw on a cfw ps3 will render it useless.the sad part is am on 3.6, i don't mind paying if i know that future games i would be able to play them, unless i can always downgrade easily
You can always revert to OFW(i.e 3.55 CFW - 3.55 OFW), THEN upgrade to the latest OFW if you want to go online/play the latest games. OR wait(weeks, maybe months) for a new walk-around to play the latest games.

Though i don't think there's a hack for OFW 3.6 yet.

The truth is that games are far easier now than they've ever been . If you don't believe me, try playing the original Battletoads on the NES. Back then, most games were crazily hard to make up for being short on content.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by ritchboy(m): 2:01pm On Jun 29, 2011
2 seasons ago Pellegrini's Real Madrid finished 3 points behind Barcelona, a team you believe is probably the greatest team ever, scoring more goals than us. You do not have to like them, but give credit where it is due. Pellegrini may have been knocked out of the CL, but that does not change the fact that this Madrid team is very very strong. They have only gotten much stronger since.
Real finishing 3 points behind Barca doesn't paint the whole picture. After the first game, both teams went on to occupy the top two for THE WHOLE SEASON. Because they were so close every game was like a cup final, Real basically HAD to win every game. This only proves how feeble the other teams are, i.e when Real really need a result, 9 times out of ten they get it. I guess you can also argue it proves how strong they are but their performance in Europe(failing to reach the quarter-finals for SIX STRAIGHT YEARS) suggests otherwise.

This is all conjecture. You can not prove this, neither can I disprove it.  I respect your right to hold your view on this. I disagree, but going back and forth on this kinda stuff in  pointless IMO.
It is yet to be "proved" that Man Utd will finish above Havant & Waterlooville if they played in the same league but common sense should tell you they will. Just as common sense should tell you Arsenal will fare better than Valencia and Real aren't good enough to amass 96 points in the EPL. Where do Real plan to plunder 96 points from after playing United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City & Spurs home and away(12 games/36 points)?

Trends over a period of time IMO give a more comprehensive view of how competitive a league is.
This is where the problem lies. How do you decide which "period of time" gives the most comprehensive view? I used two years, you went with ten.

Since we are at loggerheads, then we can only look at it in two ways: A. In entirety(overall). B. The stat quo.

A - In entirety: Debosky & Coogar have already shown you how the EPL has proved to be far more competitive than La Liga historically.

B - The stat quo: Currently, Man City are FA Cup holders, Birmingham are League Cup Holders, United are Champions. City and Chelsea(2nd and 3rd) finished level on points, 3 points ahead of Arsenal in 4th. Mid-table was tight as well and the relegation battle was the tightest i've ever seen with more than 10 clubs involved in the closing stages. The gap between 2nd and bottom was just 38 points.

In La Liga Real won the Copa Del Rey, Barca won the league, bah! The gap between second and third was 21 points! The gap between 2nd and bottom was a whopping 62 points!

Either way we look at it, La Liga is a two team league and it will remain so until they change their TV system(for starters) or Arab money arrives.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by ritchboy(m): 11:03am On Jun 29, 2011
A league where their  Champions get totally dominated in a CL final. . . and then destroyed again 2 yrs after, when they came "ready to rumble " should never be allowed to air on prime time. EPL games should be aired around 2am on weeknights, right between the infomercial for hair transplants and those soft p0rn movies.   grin

Oh. . . let's not forget their most "entertaining" team came to Spain and didn't get ONE shot on goal in 90 minutes.
Notice how i left Barca out of my comments? They are probably the best team ever and even if they win all 38 games i won't complain. My gripe is Real Madrid averaging 94 points and 102 goals over the last two seasons.

This is all conjecture
. . . . . . and me sef sabi "conjecturize".
There is no conjecture here. All things being equal, Valencia can never finish above Arsenal(4th last season) after 38 games in any league. Real Madrid can't smell 96 points in England, na beans? I rate Madrid and United on about the same level and even United only managed 80 points and 78 goals in EPL while Madrid were copping 92 points and 102 goals in La Liga.

No team in the EPL can EVER EVER cop 96 points in Spain, impossicant!! lai lai!!!
If Real can do it, Man Utd or even Chelsea will match or better it. You think if we put United and Madrid in the same league, Madrid will finish 12 points ahead of United and score 24 goals more?

Madrid won back to back titles during the Ronaldinho era. One of those seasons Villarreal finished ahead of us. In the last ten years, Mallorca, Deportivo, Valencia, Real sociedad, Celta de Vigo,  and Villarreal have finished ahead of either Barca and Real, and even, once, Valencia and Deportivo finished ahead of  BOTH Real and Barca. IMO It's mainly because of the coming of age of La Masia products trained in Cruyff's system since their early years, the emergence of Messi, and the ridiculous amounts of money that Real Madrid have spent on their squad in the last 3 years, in an attempt to avoid Barca totally running away with it, that we both seem to be running away with it. Madrid and Barca's current squads will, IMHO, dominate any league in Europe, not because the leagues are weak, but because both teams are just that strong.

WHich have been the top 4 teams in England in the last decade?
All this "over the last decade" talk is beside the point. Depor and Celta Vigo have been relegated and you are using them as examples of how competitive La Liga is AT PRESENT, this doesn't make any sense. The most recent events is what matters here not this prehistoric era you are raving about.

In the EPL the money bags win, and the rest just make up the numbers.
Same can be said of La Liga and pretty much every other league.

I think when EPL fans talk about Spain being dominated by just 2 teams, they are either ignoring the facts, or clueless of the facts.
Which facts? I've already given you the facts. Real Madrid(2nd) have finished (on average) a jaw-dropping 23 points ahead of Valencia(3rd) over the two most recent seasons. You are going to have a hard time convincing any sane man La Liga isn't dominated by two teams.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread (for Arsenal Fans) by ritchboy(m): 12:38am On Jun 29, 2011
Krayola is taking the piss. . . Arsenal will win Bundesliga with their reserves. If that crappy AC Milan side can be Italian champs then Arsenal should win that without breaking sweat.

Don't let Barca and Madrid's dominance fool u into thinking La Liga is soft.
La Liga may not be "soft" but a league where 3rd(Valencia) finish 25/21 points behind 2nd(Real) has to be questioned. There are only two teams in Spain that can go toe to toe with the very best in Europe and the next best team(Valencia) can't smell top 4 in England. Real Madrid can never cop 96 points in England, impossicant!

Even when Real were back to back champions after the Ronaldinho era they were still being disgraced in Europe, losing 3-0 to Lyon, losing 5-0 to Liverpool, losing home and away to Roma. When they were scandalously copping 96 points in the league in 09/10 they were simultaneously cementing their status as Lyon's binsches in Europe.

Arsenal may not win La liga but it is not quite as good as you think it is, not even close.

debosky:
Current ability? I don't think so - Young consistently makes 10+ assists a season plus his goals, Nasri had more goals but much fewer assists. In terms of potential, that is difficult to judge so I'll leave that one.
Abeg forget numbers, Nasri is far better than Young. Lampard has consistently posted the best numbers in the league but(well you know the rest). As for potential that is the easiest thing to judge in this case. Young is 26 next month, he has hardly missed a game in the last 2-3 years but has hardly improved either. Nasri just turned 24, and is steadily improving, it's a no-brainer.

Even though Arsenal are a direct rival, I still don't think anything above the same £15m would be reasonable - only magas like Citeh would pay £20m for a player they can get for free the next summer.
The million dollar question is will he be available next summer? Also if you wait till next summer to get him free it automatically means you've missed his services for a year(a la Chamakh). Fergie is not Wenger grin grin

coogar:
because ferguson has belatedly realised you don't need an extremely good central midfielders to win the league. if you can get the best wingers in the division with a good defence and an effective strike force then it's a sure banker. arsenal have had the best midfielders in the league since the invincible era and yet they have won nuthing. grin
Makelele, Essien, Lampard, Ballack etc. Chelsea had the best midfielders in the league from the start of the trophyless era. cheesy

I don't believe either stories at this moment. . .I don't see Utd paying £20m for a guy with one year left on his contract when they paid £15m for Young which includes the 'English player' premium.
I believe Young also had just a year left on his contract, + Nasri has a lot more to offer both in terms of current ability and potential, and of course Arsenal are a direct rival. If they paid 15m for Young then offering 20m for Nasri should be considered derisory sef. cheesy

That however does not excuse your st.u.pid assertion that Pedro will be the one to leave when Fab arrives. Why do you think Pep will drop a forward that scored 22 goals last season?
22 goals is nothing special for a Barcelona forward. Even Cesc can score 22 goals from midfield.

Why would Pep change his formation to drop a player who is guaranteed to score more goals than Cesc?
Because he is a much better player overall. And he doesn't have to change his formation.

Creativity? That's Xavi and Iniesta. Busquets will always play as DM.
So how do you work that out?
Iniesta is a dribbler more than anything, sure he's excellent at ball retention and is a good passer but his range is limited, and he rarely delivers a final ball, Cesc is 10x more creative.

One more iranu from your box of crap.

2010/11----54 appearances, 36 starts, 18 subs
2009/10----52 appearances, 33 starts, 19 subs
2008/9-----14 appearances,  6 starts, 8 subs
2007/8-----2 appearances, 0 start, 2 subs
This still doesn't add up to your claim of him coming off the bench more than he starts.

45 goals, 14 assists in 75 starts is an outstanding return for a rookie forward
So we throw away all the minutes he copped as a sub? You are a genius grin

he's by far an important piece for barcelona than cesc will ever be for barcelona.
Premature. If Cesc does join Barca he'll offer them something they lack: a midfielder with off the ball movement who can make runs into the box and finish off moves(+ he's also a possession/assist king). Cesc has more goals in him than Xavi & Iniesta combined.

messi scored 53 goals and 24 assists from that position. . . .are you sure villa can match that?
Messi doesn't have to move wide. Alves can provide the width on the right with Pedro/Iniesta/Sanchez on the left. Villa should be scoring more than 23 goals at a team like Barca.

they will have to sell afellay and thiago to fit cesc in.
That still leaves 3 of Cesc, Pedro, Mascherano & Sanchez on the bench. These guys would walk into most top teams in Europe.

how so? he started from the bench more times than starts. . . .i think pedro is an excellent player. . .he has done more at barcelona than cesc has done for arsenal in everyone's opinion.
I seriously doubt this, infact even without checking his appearance stats i know it's a big lie grin

how did you come up with this comparison? cesc is a central midfielder, pedro is a wing forward. pedro copped more minutes at the world cup than cesc!
You just told us they play different positions and that Pedro copped more minutes(World Cup) in the same breath. Pedro was competing with Jesus Navas, Cesc was competing with Xavi, do the math. I believe we've already had this debate a few days ago.

messi will play in the middle, villa will move to the flanks.
I don't know why Pep does that. Surely they are better off with Villa leading the line.

To be honest Barcelona don't need Cesc. Just imagine Cesc, Pedro, Sanchez, Mascherano, Affellay and Thiago competing for one slot in the team. That should be illegal cheesy

Witchboy? Can you explain how you came about this s.t.upid?
Pedro had 22 goals and 10 assists in 54 apps. Last season.
177 apps, 62 goals, 14 assists all time for Barca.

Are you smoking your shishin again?
You are a phat phool!!! 62 goals form where? I count 45. Oh, I see you went to his Wikipedia page and foolishly added the goals he scored for the B team, DUNCE!!

45 goals and 14 assists in 122 appearances for a Barcelona forward is nothing to ring home about.

Pedro cannot lace Cesc's boots. He will only play ahead of him if Pep wants an extra forward.

Of course there will be some rotation but i guess this is how they'll line up more often than not.

Chei!!!! See logic. Can someone please tell this dude about a player called Michael Carrick?
I never said playing for United guarantees him playing more for England, i said it can only help his cause. I'm pretty sure Carrick played more regularly for England at United than at Spurs.

If he fails to live up to expectations. You are not saying that's not possible are you?
Now this is the kind of logic that should be greeted with "Chei!!!" cheesy It is incredibly daft even by your pitiful standards. grin grin

He's not going to fail to live up to expectations overnight, surely he must have played for England again before he's deemed a failure at United. Walcott failed to live up to expectations for years at Arsenal but still started games for England.
