While all of this is going on, Dudu says play Chesney so he can get rid of his mistakes while losing us games - the same policy that has so obviously helped Fabianski - from ruining our FA cup chances in January, he progressed to trying to ruin our CL chances and finally succeeded in ending our hopes for the premiership. We should just change the goalkeeper for a younger, more error prone one and repeat the cycle all over again.

There is EVERY reason - Iker's case is a MASSIVE exception, given the obvious failings we have seen at this club when we over rely on youth too early, we CANNOT afford to take another risk. Three dodgy keepers is more than any club can stomach

As far as I'm concerned, Chesney won't even get a look in for another 2-3 years at the least and should be loaned out to other teams till then. Mannone should remain third choice as he has had mostly competent performances this season despite his rawness.

I feel obligated to call out nuccas comparing Thiago & Cesc here and on the Bayern thread before it gets out of hand. Thiago is a major talent for his age no doubt, but he is nowhere near Cesc, not even close. He is not even on the same level as Cesc of 6 years ago or Cesc of Thiago's age(20) let alone Cesc of 2011.

When Cesc was 18(2 years younger than Thiago currently is), he was already running circles around legends of the game. He was making greats like Zidane and Nedved look like rookies while mopping the floor with Vieira, Emerson, Gravesen etc en route to UCL final. He also went on to start 2 or 3 games for Spain at the 2006 World Cup that summer.

Thiago is 20 and has no cap for Spain, virtually no UCL experience and is more accustomed to "division 2" football. His biggest claim to fame is shining at European youth championship against featherweight boys with no pubic hair and at a two-game pre-season friendly tournament.

Do i think Barcelona need Cesc? No. Actually Thiago is the perect player to understudy Xavi/Iniesta: young, developing, content with sitting on the bench and waiting for his opportunity and not on a 100k per week contract. However, any comparison with Cesc is completely out of order.

Halfway through the normal EPL the top 12 teams from the two leagues would be combined into a superleague 1 of 24 and the bottom teams would be combined to a Europa League

By the halfway point of the season there would only be 19 games left meaning some teams won't even play each other, there can be no more than 20 teams for it to work.

Also, devoting an entire half of a season to "qualifiers" would be depressing!
