My challenge remains: Please name any single match Xavi played from 2005 till date where his midfield didnt dominate possession.Ponce like Ibime would lead you to believe Xavi is the only player in the Barca/Spain midfield. . . can you "name any single match since 2005" where Iniesta's or Busquets' midfield didnt dominate possession? DUNCE!!! Some other punk is here mentioning De La Pena. . . . I shall leave his conscience to judge him!De La Pena is a better passer of the ball than Xavi. . . Cesc cannot start for Spain because he is simply not better than his counterparts in Barcelona/Real Madridsyntax error! playing in the local league and for clubs like Real or Barca is a massive advantage over ur rivals. Exhibit A: Xabi Alonso When he was at Liverpool, he was way below Senna, Xavi, Iniesta, and even Cesc in the pecking order. He moves to Real and all of a sudden he's ahead of Cesc, despite the fact Cesc being young has naturally improved as a player during that period while Alonso is pretty much on the same level. Even a blind man could see Cesc played way better than Alonso when he came on for him. |

Conveniently forgetting Busquets and Pedro are younger than Cesc and they are all STARTERS.and you are conveniently forgetting A. they play for a bigger/more successful club, B. play inthe local league, C. do not play the same position as Cesc. Iniesta need to turn all these dribbles to results.statistics are not the only reflection of a productive player. Iniesta is no Quaresma, he DELIVERS! Lampard with his 28 goals and 20* assists cant lace Iniesta's boots. And who said Xavi cant dribble? Xavi always beats his man, but only enough to give him space to release the pass.Xavi can only dribble a player who is trying to close him down. . . he cant actually take on a defender if his life depended on it. Iniesta can skip past 3-4 defenders on the bounce without breaking sweat. Get back to me when Iniesta starts producing 50% of the results that Xavi produces.get back to me when Xavi stops looking clueless in the final 3rd of the field(off the ball) |

Iniesta is nowhere in the level of Xavi Hernandez and you have to consider the fact Iniesta sometimes play in the front 3 which gives him the opportunity to score goals and stuffs but in the business of the keeping things ticking in the midfield. . . .Xavi is NUMBER ONE.and the funny thing is Iniesta is a pass-master himself. . . + his pace, dribbling, technique & finishing are light-years ahead of Xavi's!! Iniesta is the best midfielder in the solar system, FACT!!! what kind of question is that?Of course Xavi would start ahead of Cesc for Spain cos of all the politics involved in national teams that act as tie-breakers for players of similar ability, namely: A. Age - the older players get the nod B. League - Playing in the local(La Liga) league is a massive advantage C. Team - Playing for a bigger team Xavi has all that over Cesc. . . If Cesc is 30 and plays for Barca and Xavi is 23 and plays for Arsenal, it's a no-brainer Xavi would be the one sitting on the bench for Spain!!! |

I've always said shot-stopping is the easiest part of goalkeeping. In fact, the goalies who you ALWAYS see diving like mutated monkeys to stop shots tend to be the most useless i.e Paul Robinson. I can tolerate forwards who show-boat, but not goalies. |

Spain are clearly the best team on paper. . . Being unable to play Torres, Villa, Silva, Iniesta, Cesc, Xavi, & Alonso all at once is a headache worth having. Not to mention the likes of Pedro, Busquets & Navas. Is Del Bosque adventurous enough to pair Xavi with Cesc in CM or will he opt for the more defensive Alonso? Well as always, i will be supporting the Oranje and hope they finally dispel their underachievers tag like Spain did at the Euros.
