i dont think we can compare Diaby's case to Eduardo. Diaby was a young player with immense potential learning his trade, he was bound to improve, injury or no injury.
Eduardo on the other hand was already near his prime. and like you said, is unlikely to thrive in our current formation. his ability isnt the problem, cos he has bags of it. Maybe its psychological, but then again he looked really fired-up when he first returned last season, even in some earlier games this campaign. Now he just seems lost. . .
Lets just hope he can get back to his best sooner rather than later.
Till then, I'm backing Nic to bag another treble against Barca!

A. He has defensive duties.(Newsflash: every CM has defensive duties).
B. He is a "counter-attacking midfielder"(not a "dribble 7 defenders" type) and shouldnt be used otherwise.(perhaps he should be benched/subbed when Chelsea play an alternative style).
C. There were too many defenders in front of him.(maybe Inter fielded 57 men!).
D. His "opposite numbers"(who are actually defensive midfielders defending a lead[exact opposite of him]) didnt do much offensively either.(a player can now be judged by another player's performance, so it's cool if both of them are shyte).
E. His dog ate his favourite under-wear.(it's replacement made him feel severe discomfort around his groin). . . Etc

be astounded not. . . Crossing is the easiest skill in football. It only requires putting the ball in the right area. . . This "area"(usually between the goalie and the defenders) is large, doesnt require much precision/measurement, and is therefore generally easy to hit(especially when the ball isnt lofted, i.e a low cross). And even when no one gets on the end of it, it would still be called a great cross as long as it was put in that "area".
Passing the ball is a different kettle of Pringles.
To be fair to Didier, he is a pretty good finisher(with both his feet and his head), but he just lacks that level of technique that seperates the best from the rest.
