My questions for you would be, do you want it published as a conference paper, journal ? what publications are you looking at? ..Papers go through serious peer reviews by different faculty from different schools/industries. Your paper will need to successfully pass through the process which is rigorous even for people with some research experience..so basically it's more than just a project. That's one reason you want to consider working with someone who has that experience and also in that field. There are few other reasons as well.
Check out this link https://www.researchgate.net/post/Why_is_it_becoming_increasingly_rare_to_see_single-authored_journal_papers
"Multi-authored papers, especially in newly pursued fields, are certainly a good sign that there are a sense of common understanding among a big number of researchers (who carry different skills at different levels) about the major aspects in their field that require further investigations. That actually encourages collaboration, and increases the interaction and social skills, which what make the papers more to be multi-authored .." Faysal Eliyan.

Hello Guys

I know I have missed much. But it would be ungrateful of me having gained so much from following this thread and having a successful GRE as a result to then sign off completely. I am sure that I have missed much since I resumed Grad school in August. But then, this is my own little way of greeting all the Gurus in the house. I hope it is accepted!

I thank you so much vladimirputin. I had similar issue. I use a glo line so when I saw this, I called Godson yesterday. He asked me to call today and after several reposting (call me in 20 mins, call me back in 30 mins etc), he asked for my score and state, and gave me my interview details. Thanks for the heads up. Good luck
Congrats danieee.

Funny, what sin are u talking about. lol.. They said say ur score and state if u got invite. I got, I said my state, I nor wan talk score, cos it wont reflect anything, meaning saying it wont really be of any help. I said it was high because it was. Even if the cut off was at his highest, I wld have still got called for interview (one with God is with Majority). or wait are u talkin about the 34 I mentioned. That was not me oooo. That someone else, I mentioned it to tell peeps from my state (Edo) who scored around that to maybe expect invite.
Congratulations on your interview invite. But I hate to say it but I think Aamstih was right.

professorgome:
In the interview, they will ask you:
1. To justify the reason you want to study in that area.
2. Questions on the selected area of study
3. Current Affairs (Federal and State)
The last time I appeared before the interview panel, they asked me, "who was the first governor of my state" (Rivers State). They asked a friend of mine, to name the first democratic president of Nigeria.
They may ask you to give them the course content of the course you want to study and all that. The interview is usually simple because the questions are from what you tell them in the panel. For example, if they ask you, "what did you study in your first degree?" And you answer "Computer science". Then they will ask, "Did you do programming languages?" And you say "yes". They will ask you to name the ones you did. And you say, qbasic, fortran, C++, JAVA and scripting languages etc. And they ask again. "What does the extension .js stand for?" If you had done java scripting, you will know that .js is an extension for java script file. And in that order. You have to be honest with yourself. Do not say what you have not done, it will lead you into trouble.
For those that will make it to the interview, goodluck to you and God's favour.
Thanks Prof. So generous of you

Dantidote:
My test was medical. The questions were all totally out of line. It was Really an embarrassing situation to witness as the failure rate remains alarming.

I must say it wasn't just a fair choice of questions. They would have specified the field of medical candidates they needed in the entire process
Or perhaps they should have considered other fields that are not in the medical line. It was an embarrassing experience for me.
Anyways, I am hopeful.

doctortam:
Did mine today.....the medical exam wasn't as initially reported.....guess it was changed....there was just one anaesthesia question, no question on cardiomyopathy.....most questions were from the basic medical sciences like anatomy, physio and biochemistry. There were few clinical questions. Folks who are not doctors were mostly affected.... Saw scores like 2, 7, 18 etc. I had 25....I hope it ll be enough.
Great score, doctortam. I had 16. There was no question out of the 50 that I did not guess.

The medical was so bad, people were scoring 5,7,13 etc...the highest i saw was 24.The questions were hardcore medicine, diagnosis, pathogenisis, pharmacology, etc. You have to be either a Doctor or a Nurse to answer them.So i believe the next stage would be based on your field. Most Engineering guys got 35 and above
That sounds scary.
How was your performance, logho?

Abah prof. Shuuu,.. u have not still heard, stop giving people wrong info now. wat are u tryna achieve. It have been stated time and over that no one knows what they will set this time. But following the trend, it most likely wont be cinfores cos they changed that last year, and if they wanna continue with wat they did last year, then is small maths, verbal, current affairs, they mostly ur area of specialization. so its only engineering peeps that will be seeing chems, physics, and their engin tins, I am a geologist, and I will be expectin tins from that field, managemnt people will be expecting from their field too, same goes for medical and then environmental. but one tin was certain, they would be questions can answer if u really studied that course in school. I went for dangote test, I wrote for mining engineering as a geologist, and I was able to answer well, cos its all related. so the idea is that it will be ur course related questions. Yet again thats if last year's pattern is followed, which would most likely be the case cos test dont just change pattern every year like dat, except they seelast years pattern and logistics as poor. So people just keep an open mind but try increase ur knowledge as much as u can. dont follow this prof thats giving misleading info. how can u say 'The questions are general, Maths, phys, chem, biology in advanced level', so people that are doin management should go and be readin that too. The problem is that like Geobukky advised many of us did not bother to go tru last year's thread. even someone said on that thread that wat wld make u pass is more of what u know than what u read just days or weeks before the test. I asked my friend that did last year, he said that people wrote in different halls based on courses, that after accreditation, they would direct u to a hall based on ur course
I think I agree with you on that one: that the questions will be based on specialisation.
Thank you for the additional relevant info

Calculator is not allowed.Just get acquainted with basic numerical skills like simple divisions and multiplications.Things like 25/100 is the same as 1/4 or 444 * 25 is same as 444*100/4 etc...Things that will make 'life' easy for you.
Then, they set basic field specifics...If your undergraduate is Engineering, just know the basics of engineering(mechanics and electricity mainly). This was the pattern last year.Like I usually say,it is not certain that they will do same this year. However, what is constant is that they are unlikely to give you a very complex Engineering problem to solve that day.

NDDC scholarship is independent of how long your msc is.Everybody gets same amount whether 2years or a year....Finally,do not be intimidated by the crowd on the day of exam, just know say races like this na per head grin. smiley
Thank you so much baresi22. Your contributions have been so helpful.

But I called Godson and he advised that I should come with a calculator.

Seriously ,who do we believe guyz?
What's this Physics, Chem you're talking about here?
I mean what are we expecting ? Basic Sciences(Physics, Chem,Math) or Aptitude (Logical Reasoning, Quantitative, Verbal n stuffs)
This thread is just so confusing?
Biko, those of you who have written before? Please point in the right direction as regards what to expect abeg
@professorgome, @Nelzone, @solleypee, @Roger david

If anyone shares my views, please reply ...atleast i have written NITDA once, and i can say all their questions were basically aptitude+ICT+Current affairs
I am as confused as you are too. Never seen anything like this before on Nairaland. Sorry Bassey4, I am afraid I can't help because this will also be my first time of writing this test and I don't have any PQ.

is not compulsory to upload it, I was told on the application to take a passport to the interview
I think you should specify what you want to a good photographer who deals in this.
I got one who snapped the 2' by 2' or 5cm x 5cm (as the passport photographs are traditionally called) for me. I uploaded this and it was successful. Thanks to don4ye who put me through this.

And I remember vividly that I didn't have to bring out the hard copies at the embassy for any reason. And thanks to the gurus here who also saved me some cash by letting me beforehand that with the right prep, I didn't need to pay anyone at the embassy entrance for anything.

so please get a photographer who can snap the right photo for you.

Good luck
