I have noticed this about fellow guys, and I'm sure some of us have had similar experiences.

Most times when a guy is close to girl and his friends probably knows that they are close.. If he attempts to sleep with the girl and she refused. They normal go about bragging that they have slept with her just to massage their ego and some might even claim that they stopped talking to her after sleeping with her... While the real truth is that the girl stopped talking to them when they attempted to cross the boundary and she got upset.

You are very right about this. Some thing like this happened to me when I attended a short course, the course lasted for a month. Some guys I met during the program wanted to date me but I told them that we can just be friends. One particular guy pretended as if he was okay with being just a friend, he was always coming around me and pretending to care about me, I did not know he was going around lying to people that we are in a relationship and that we have been having sexual affairs.

I was very depressed when I found out because I have never even kissed a guy talkless of having sex with a guy but I did not try to prove myself to anyone. It was a very painful experience for me.

We've been together for a year and 2 weeks.
I intending settling down with her so I proposed to her 6 months to the relationship.
Before proposal, she tells me so many things about herself. eg.
She doesn't have so many friends, she's the church type and her life revolves around house, church, and my place sometimes.
She has concluded her service year but no job. I opened a POS for her to keep her busy and engaged and she's really doing well in it because I do see the inflows and outflows. She's not the material type . Very prudent in spending. She's kind, generous , from a well cultured home.

What causes the depression.

Their parents only gave birth to 3 of them. She's the first and only girl. (27yrs). The other two are boys. She thinks about alot of things like she' has yet to start giving her parents returns, very soon she will get married, who's going to look after her parents and younger ones, the POS is stressful to her as she will leave home in the morning and when she gets back home in the evening, she will still need to cook and do other chores, she' doesn't have time for herself, she has an ambition of being a Medical doctor but look at her under the scorching sun hustling POS stipends. She doesn't socialise, now self, she has stopped going to church, always sleeping , crying and gets angry at herself and other person's for absolute no reason. The last time she came over to my place, I wasn't around, she knew where I kept my room keys, she entered and cut herself with blade on her wrist and dropped a note.. (I'm sorry). I was so scared, I had to call her younger brother which we rushed her to the nearby hospital without the knowledge of her parents. The last one that shock me was when I saw sniper in her bag. I bought her ice cream, on helping her put it inside her bag, I saw it. I confronted her and she just started crying. I keep encouraging her that suicide isn't an option, she should consider how many people she will hurt by killing herself. We've prayed together, she even told me she doesn't believe in God anymore. I keep encouraging her, keep praying for her. I'm just confused about the whole situation.

Please Nairalanders, what's your take.
Should I go ahead and marry her, I had the plan of visiting her parents Q4 this year.

It does matter if you marry her or not, just save her. Even if she was just a friend would you have left her to die when you have got what it takes to save her? How will you feel if she committes suicide few weeks later? Would you be able to handle the guilt?

Don't listen to ignorant people, depression is real, it doesn't show on the face and people handle depression differently. Anybody can be depressed, you could have been the one in her shoes.

Please pay attention to her, she needs medical help.

Marriage does not translate into automatic childrearing, the couple need to gather themselves to properly accommodate fresher.

Though some couples married without planning and some of them (not all of them) later experienced Miraculous transformation in life but that is after they might have had a lot of bad experiences. Some pains are not even necessary, one does not need to be totally down before transformation can take place, so why suffer in vain and make those innocent kids go through unnecessary pains. Don't deceive yourself most couples don't wait for up to three years before they start bearing kids, unplanned pregnancy is even possible. It is better and wise to plan before marriage.

There's a certain argument that you shouldn't marry unless you're financially ready. When exactly is a man financially ready? Lots of people lose whom they love chasing when they're financially ready. Please I need matured contribution on this.

A man does not have to be rich to be financially independent but he must be comfortable on his own without depending on his family or his friends for survival. He needs to have a stable source of income or a means of livelihood and he and his fiancée should have the ability to cater for extras before marriage because they might start bearing kids a year or few years after marriage.

You have to try to be celibate still he comes, if you cannot stay celibate, just breakup with him and move on, instead of cheating on him.

Guy, I hope you know you are the wrong one, if you were the one that noticed such a big red flag, will you marry the lady? If I was the lady, I would have done the same because my opinion about you will change after that incident. No lady wants a violent husband.

Let me guess, you want to apply your famous special interpretation magic to that verse in order to make it say what It does not say - contradict Jesus, and God's, direct proclamations, regarding the subject of shepherd/pastor?

Again, God already decreed that He alone will shepherd His sheep. Jesus Christ directly confirmed this in His teachings so clearly even what Jesus Christ said in the verse above does not stand in contradiction to His proclamations only you intentionally chose to inject your lies in to make it so.

Pastors are instruments of God, God uses them to spread His words. Are you expecting Jesus to keep coming to the world to preach to us or to die for our sins over and over again?
