cornelboy: Oh no wahala na. But why don't you support your interpretation of John 1:1 with the Bible itself? If you have something to offer I'm ready to learn. 1 Corinthians 8:6 NLV [6]But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.
Why did Paul say here that "there's one God, the Father"?
If a product is produced in US but sold in Nigeria. Let's say the name of the production company is Company X and it is owned by three unknown brothers John, Richard and Sam, if they write owned and produced by Big X on their website but they refuse to reveal their identities, people will keep speculating but they will never get their speculations right because they will only be looking for one owner, they can never understand that it is owned by a team of three people from the description written on the website. A team always makes decisions collectively but if Richard, who is one of the team members volunteers to come to Nigeria to be the company's sale manager for a year because people are skeptical about the company and for the advancement of the company. He accepted to operate as the sale manager, so he cannot operate as the owner, he has to receive direct instructions for the owners as sale managers do. For Richard to lower himself this much and for others to support his mission, it shows that they love the company a lot. Richard will be working as a mere sale manager for the growth of the company, he will use that opportunity to reveal his true identity to people. He will also reveal the identity of his team to people by giving them the details of their functions and their individual contributions. Richard has two diferent natures, his nature as the CEO of the company is different from his nature as God. Jesus added another nature when He came to the world, so He has two natures, His Godly nature and His human nature and He only came to the world with His human nature. |

You are bothering me with your so much questions, why not ask the Holy Spirit to direct you? No matter how I explain to you, you will not be satisfied, you will still bring up several verses and ask me for answers. The fact is the verses that explains that Jesus claims He is God cannot be excluded from the Bible. We just have to understand that other verses that indicated that Jesus was under the authority of God was just referring to His human nature, not His Godly nature. (1 Corinthians 8:6) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. 1 Corinthians 8:6 did not indicate that Jesus is not among the Godhead, it only indicated that God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is one. That verse was also emphasizing that Jesus is one, that though He has two natures, His Godly nature and His human nature but He is still one and not two. The same way, fingers are united and connected to one another in one hand and they perform their duties with each other's backing, that is the way the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is connected, they are one divine team |

cornelboy: I hope you know that the Greek word "theos" could either be "God" or "god". The point is theos is used for Jehovah and also used for small gods even Satan. Why can't it be use for Jesus?
2 Corinthians 4:4 NLV [4]Satan, who is the god (theos) of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God (theos).
You should see that capitalization was added when referring to God to show He's a greater God. It was also added when referring to Jesus to show his divinity not his equality with God Almighty.
From every angle, the Bible shows that YHWH God is far more greater than Jesus His son.
Exodus 7:1, KJV says "and God made Moses a god unto Pharaoh" while NKJV says "and God made Moses a God onto Pharaoh". Why?
It's also obvious from the bible that the early church were in perfect harmony believing in one God the Father, they didn't believe in the Trinity nor were they inspired by the holy spirit to establish the doctrine.
1 Corinthians 8:6 NLV [6]But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.
Ephesians 4:6 NLV [6]one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.
Trinity was established by the apostolic fathers after the death of the early apostles. The doctrines was established base on argument and debates in the Nicene council and the subsequent councils. Some were even killed why some were banished. It's crystal clear they weren't led by the holy spirit.
The seed has been sown sister Rose shalom! You believe I am wrong, I believe you are wrong. Life is not hard, everybody has a right to their beliefs. So let's hold on to our beliefs because we cannot force each other. Instead of trying to change other's belief or forcing them to agree that you are the best, preach, so that those that agree with your views will accept it. Why did the Bible say καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος and not και θεός ήταν ο λόγος.καὶ Θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος (or) kaí Theós ín o lógos - means And God was the word.και θεός ήταν ο λόγος (or) kai theós ítan o lógos - means And a god was the word.A determiner is a member of a class of words used to modify nouns or noun equivalents. Determiners help clarify what a noun is referring to and are typically placed before descriptive adjectives. This is simple Greek and English translation, there is no twist to it, so assumptions are not needed. John 1:1 is lacking a determiner because a determiner is not needed to qualify the true God of Heaven but in 2 Corinthians 4:4, there is a determiner explaining that satan is only the god of this world and not of Heaven. If you want to talk about President Buhari to a stranger in Nigeria, you can just say the president without using a determiner but if you are talking about another president, in order not to mislead the stranger it is compulsory for you to use a determiner to specific. The Bible cannot mislead us and it is very explainatory. There is no verse in the Bible were satan or any other small god was mentioned as a god singularly without using a determiner, such mistakes did not occur in the Bible. If you are not trying to backup your claims you would have understood this immediately. This is my own view of the Bible, you don't have to accept mine because I have no right over you, in the same way you have no right over me and I don't have to accept your views also. For peace to reign, let's not try to understand each other. |

post: Thanks to JEHOVAH my brother!
These people don't believe in God and they're out to discourage anyone from putting trust in God. Matthew 23:13
A diligent study of God's word has taught us that God often forgive and forget the past errors of imperfect humans {Numbers 14:18; Micah 7:18} surely God is talking about those that committed grievous blunders in pure worship but later made a U-turn not wicked and unrepentant evildoers who will like to silence God's servants sent to correct them! So if the Catholic Church has practiced paganism in the past what now happens to those living in our time who wouldn't make any effort to change the old tradition? That's why God said such ones will answer for all the errors of their past leaders! Exodus 34:7
If Russell and his team celebrates Christmas in their time and through the intensive study of those that continue as International Bible Students Association discovered that Christmas is of pagan origin and stopped it are they not different from those who have kept it for centuries and continue telling people it's Jesus' birthday? The so-called Jws brothers and sisters will not see anything wrong with this message. MaxInDHouse or any other jw are not our superiors, we cannot bow to them or honour their words and we cannot just keep quiet when they address us rudely. Respect is reciprocal. We are only giving jws a taste of their own medicines. |

post: You can now see the reason why Jesus referred to them as "GOATS" while he called his own true followers "SHEEP" Matthew 25:31-32
The nature of these two animals should help any honest hearted and sincere individuals to decipher what Jesus meant by that parable.
GOATS are creatures that doesn't recognize or familiar with submission to headship while the SHEEP will not make a single move without the order from those taking the lead.
So if someone could say those Jesus said were CHOSEN from the earth {Matthew 24:22} to be his co-rulers in heaven {Revelations 20:1-6} will only be there as choristers, how do you expect such a person to give them the proper recognition Jesus expected anyone who wants to be a citizen of God's kingdom gives them?
Well that's why Jesus said they will depart into everlasting destruction because they failed to RECOGNIZE his brothers who are working tirelessly to organize his earthly subjects! Matthew 25:31-46
In fact Jesus referred to such ones as workers of lawlessness because they disregarded the arrangement he set to unite his followers as one big and happy family of peace loving worshipers having the same line of thought! John 17:20-23
Most of them hate me like die because of the way and manner i often substantiate why any true believer must be submissive to those taking the lead among God's people! Hebrews 13:7, 17 Cornelboy, I understand that you are very bias but what will you do call this? |

cornelboy: John 1:1 NLV [1]In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
"The Word was with God" The word is Jesus and he was with God YHWH
"..and the Word was God." Here is where the confusion lies. Since an indefinite or definite article is not put before the God, it makes the verse hard to understand.
Let me try to put the articles in the phrase: "..and the word was the God" This would have proved Jesus to be the God he was initially with, which will contradict Trinity doctrine that says Jesus and God are distinct persons working as one God. Adding article "the" makes the verse invalid.
"..and the word was a God.." Article"a" would make the sentence more meaning and logical. That is; Jesus was in the beginning with God and Jesus was a God. Amen Oh, I should add articles to all the verses that claim Jesus is God in order to allow your claim make sense, the truth is I am not interested in pleasing you. I have told you severally to hold on to your believe and not pester me. There is no need for you to continue bothering me, I will continue to worship Jesus as God as long as I live. The New Testament was majorly written in Greek. Reading online articles or dwelling on what you are told will not help, try to go on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and you will find out a lot of new things. There is a difference between Theós (God) and énas Theós (a god). |

cornelboy: I didn't quote from NWT, i quoted from NLV and KJV and NKJV. I didn't intend to argue too but have a fruitful discussion. It's clear that my points are scriptural. I didn't quote no Russell's word.
Even if you hold to your believe, i want to drop the idea that JWs are worshiping Satan or they aren't christians and all that.
Jesus taught his followers to worship the Father (not Trinity) in spirit and truth. Jesus said his kingdom is not of this world and didn't engage in politics. That's what the JWs do today. They don't join the military too.
It's obvious that they strictly follow Christ teachings and are not anti-christian. Also they have the purest form of worship. They don't use images in their worship like some churches do. God warned against using images and all that.
"Hear O Israel the lord your God is one!". God almighty is not three persons but one person, men doctrines would make you think so.
The Bible aslo teaches that Jesus will return his rulership back to God the Father and Jesus will be subjected to God's rule. God the Father will be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 Perhaps you didn't notice that no one knew Jesus untill he came to earth and the Israelites didn't worship Trinity Gods but one singular God YHWH. Also God made Jesus everything he is. He gave him everything he has, the kingdom, name power, authority et al. He empowered Jesus for a purpose, to fulfill His will for the earth.
JWs believe that Jesus is a God but not just the Almighty GOD his Father.
Acts of the Apostles 2:36 [36]“So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!”
Peace be onto you This is just your own assumption of what John 1:1. I don't agree with your view of the Bible but I have no interest in arguing with you. Peace be onto you too. |

You, a mere man, claim to be God.” [34]Jesus replied, “It is written in your own Scriptures that God said to certain leaders of the people, ‘I say, you are gods!’ [35]And you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered. So if those people who received God’s message were called ‘gods,’ [36]why do you call it blasphemy when I say, ‘I am the Son of God'? MaxInDHouse: The topic is about the beliefs of JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, and you're not one of them so if you want to participate it's OK but then you can't come here to criticize what the group believe when you're ashamed of mentioning the name of your own Church. The truth Satan is hiding from you is that once you're unable to mention the name of your Church where people are debating on topics having to do with the Bible. It simply means your religion is below standard! Jesus said everyone will see the light of God's children {Matthew 5:14-16} that's why you're here trying to argue about a global organization known for their stand against blood transfusion. But what is the name of your own Church? Then you become silent {Psalms 115:4-8} as if someone will flog you if you talk. We are JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES. We speak out in fearlessness. Ours is the God of true prophecies. All He foretells comes to be. Come on mention the name of your church (hill) if it's worth standing beside the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses: mountain of the true God! Isaiah 2:2 What you wrote is complete nonsense? Can't you see clearly? This is nairaland, not jw's forum? How can you criticize Christians on a public and expect no response. Should I also create a thread to insult and criticize you jw. Christians are not interested in criticizing that your small unnoticeable group. I am only reacting to your childish actions, I really don't care about your belief, if you are not criticizing Christians and you are just preaching your belief, I will not even participate. What communion hath Light with darkness? |

MaxInDHouse: The highlighted is exactly what the agitating Jews called Apostle Paul:
For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, an agitator among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. ~ RSV
For we have found this man to be a pest, stirring up seditions among all the Jews throughout the inhabited earth, and he is a spearhead of the sect of the Naz·a·renesʹ. NWT
You have settled the matter when you said our own God in JWs differ from yours. So nobody invited you here the topic said
Are Jehovah's Witnesses right about their belief against blood transfusion?
Since you're not one of Jehovah's Witnesses and you're ashamed of your church, why do you come in here? Are you so ignorant? Is pest the nickname for apostles of Jesus or followers of Jesus, even masqueraders pester people. "Are Jehovah's Witnesses right about their belief against blood transfusion" is just the title of the thread. If you read the post properly you will find out that it was addressing Christians not jws, the word "Christian" was even specifically mentioned. Are you not the one criticizing my religion? The fact that your religion is different from you does not give you the right to insult mine, I can't just keep quiet and not react. This is not your father's house, this is a public forum, you need to humble yourself in public, even if you are aggressive at home, try to be assertive in public. Why are you so mannerless and why are you acting as if you own everyone or you have authority over everyone? What kind of silly word is this, how can you say I am ashamed of the Church of God? I don't blame you, instead of you to be ashamed of devil, you are worshipping him with great delight. |

MaxInDHouse: You are a pagan if you don't know what is wrong with the sects claiming Christians but having doctrines contradicting that of your own. That's what Jesus did. So are you ready to practice true Christianity? Jesus said his followers will be persecuted not because they're going gently o but because they're speaking against false religions claiming believers in their God! Matthew 24:9 Pest, why do you keep disturbing people? Do you think you can force everyone to believe that you are right or you are the best? You are not superior to everyone so we are not looking for validations from you. Does it make any sense for an employee to judge the ability of equal rank employees? Your judgement and opinions does not matter at all. You are just crying unnecessarily, the word best is not written on your forehead. You cannot just claim that you are the best with empty words and by criticising others. I also have hand to type so I could have also decided to type this type of nonsense you wrote. You have to understand that I also have reserved opinions about you guys but I am a wise and responsible person so I don’t step on other's right. Pagan, we Christians, the true followers of Jesus don't argue with people that does not have the same faith or belief with us. We preach the Love of Christ to people, it is after they have converted that we can start discussing the Christian doctrine with them. Stop misusing words, persecution is the act of harassing or oppressing a person or a group of people, especially because of their identity. You guys are the persecutors because you are the ones opposing us and invading our private space, we are only reacting to your actions. Would you keep quiet, if we Christians start criticizing your religion? Or can a stranger just accuse you of being violent because you retaliated when he attacked you? Don't expect us to accept nonsense, every human being have equal rights. If I create a thread to insult your doctrines because I believe they are false doctrines, would you keep quiet? |

Janosky: Revelation 1:1
1This is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soona come to pass. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, 2who testifies to everything he saw. This is the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
3Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and obey what is written in it, because the time is near.
John Greets the Seven Churches
4John,
To the seven churches in the province of Asia:b
Grace and peace to you from Him who is and was and is to come, and from the seven Spiritsc before His throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To Him who loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood, 6who has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and power forever and ever! Amen.
7Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him—even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.
8“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, who is and was and is to come—the Almighty."
Revelation 1:1 God gave revelation to Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:6, " Jesus made us priests to his God & Father"
Revelation 1:8 In your KJV bible, from Genesis to Revelation, the Lord God Almighty is the God and Father of Jesus Christ.
Rose girl,You have the option to continue DECEIVING yourself.
Revelation1:1 God gave revelation to Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:6, " Jesus made us priests to his God & Father"
Rose girl, you have proven you don't understand Revelation 1:1,6 pointing to the truth in verse 8, Jesus Christ is a servant given the Revelation by God his Father.
Revelation 1:8 is NOT rocket science.
John 20:17, did Jesus Christ worship 3 persons? Continue WAILING upandan with childish tantrum. 3 godheads Polytheists doctrine is NOT Jesus doctrine. John 7:16
. Get thee behind me, satan. What relationship does Light have with darkness? (Matthew 16:23) But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. |

cornelboy: Maybe you should do research on how Trinity doctrine was established first. They said God was Duo like Jesus and God the Father only at first but later added the holy spirit.
Here is one reasoning; check the verses in the New testament where the word "God" is used e.g John 3:16 "for 'God' so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son...", Who does the word God in the verse refer to, the Trinity or God the Father?
Hebrews 1:1-2 [1]Long ago "God" spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. [2]And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. "God" promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The "God" in these verses refers to the Trinity or God the Father only? Try many other verses. Please be open minded. I know it sounds stupid but trust me pls.
There's another thing I want you to do, and it will either expose me or the JW generally as a liar or the Trinity as false doctrine.
It's about Revelation 1:8. Ask your mom to help you with the verse since she's a lecturer. Let her study from verse one to eight using different and reliable versions of the Bible in simpler English (she can get it online). Then ask her this question; who is verse 8 referring to Jesus or GOD the Father?
It might sound stupid but it's worth it. Follow your heart sis. Just let's agree that we are both right in my own ways. You understand your belief very well and I understand mine very well also. I'm not following my parent's belief or a pastor's belief. From a young age, I have been studying the Bible on my own. When I listen to sermons that are not Biblically sound I don't observe them and I always pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance after reading the Bible. I even discovered that some of the doctrines of my parent's Church was limiting me for no reason, things that God did not limit us from doing was part of their doctrines. When I became independent, I changed my Church to the one that corresponded with my faith and I avoid arguing with my parents about doctrine even when they bring up such arguments. I always head over to my house immediately after Church service is over, I did not even join any department in the Church so that I will not be noticed. I don't go to any pastor for extra prayers and I even prayed on my own to receive the Holy Spirit and He has been leading and directing my life. My visions and revelations use to come to pass. There was a time, I even was persuaded to deliver a friend Spiritually after she confessed that she was trying to hurt me, I did not even know I could perform deliverance on my own. I have had several personal experiences that make me believe I am on the right path. I pray the Holy Spirit guides you to the right path and if I am the one on the wrong path, I pray the Holy Spirit guide me to the right path. Thanks for your concern. |

cornelboy: I'm only saying you can be a lecturer having a master or degree. Maybe private universities. For most public universities, an applicant must possess a masters degree and be doing a PhD program. |
