Angelfrost:Plus OSIMHEN. |
macIB:No it wasn't... |
RonaldoVido:Absolute garbage. You think development is by skin colour or nationality? Do you know what China went through before it became the economic power it is today? Do you know how many millions were killed and imprisoned? How many civil rights were breached? Even today the country is a dictatorship with thousands of political prisoners, no freedom of speech or assembly, and even internet access is severely restricted. China went against the grain of laissez faire World Bank economics, concepts like the 'rule of law', and democracy, to build a top down, protectionist state economy by force and terror. Sure, it ultimately resulted in improved living standards, but ARE YOU READY to live under such crude oppression in Nigeria, in order to achieve 'development' in 30 years' time, as was China's timescale? If not, then don't mention China or anyone else coming here to fix Nigeria for you. |
GENEGIRIA:Dude, Nigeria can say it's tough providing for 200 million people from disparate cultures etc, and that it will take time to 'fix' the country etc, but what is GHANA's excuse? You shouldn't be comparing yourselves to Nigeria. You should be comparing yourselves to Singapore and UAE. These are small countries with large income/ resource base, just like Ghana. Yet, Ghana, with just 25 million people, has oil and gas, has cocoa, and gold, all in commercial quantities, YET, you're still a poor, underdeveloped country filled with poor folks. Nigeria with 200 million people, has a higher GDP per capita than you. That's a disgrace. YOU folks in Ghana should be asking your govt what happened to all the money being made there. But then again, you like to be known as a ''PEACEFUL'' country with no 'trouble makers', so I guess your leaders will continue to have a field day. |
Banmeallday:You are an asswipe calling your mother the N word. Ignorant dunce. |
darfay:The 'oppressed' calling for more intensive oppression. You're a real sadomasochist. |
sweetonugbu:Ask those Libyan slave returnees. Many spent 2 or 3 years as slaves in Libya, tortured by them daily. Nigeria sent planes to rescue them. When they reached Nigeria, many broke down and wept, and confessed they had no idea how much better Nigeria was, than the hell they had been through. Maybe one day you will get some sense. No place like home. |
sammie99:Shut up, fool. Will your negative mind recognise our successes in areas like film and music, loved by the whole world? And even in that same soccer, have we not had days of glory? Rubbish. |
galadima77:So the day you flout the law, say by overspeeding, or driving without a licence or insurance, or for driving with worn tires, and you're stopped by the police. And you try to bribe them with 3k to avoid prosecution or arrest, we should CHARGE YOU WITH A HIGH CRIME and INCREASE the punishment normally being given for bribery as you committed. Is that a deal? |
realestniggah:Boko Haram are in a very bad situation right now. They are either in or out. Can't be both anymore. If they're in, they'll be decimated by Nigerian forces. If they're out, they'll no longer be active in Nigeria. So either way, it's win-win for the country, and for Mr President. |
50 is the new 30 |
MelesZenawi:Oh shut up, you ignoramus..... Nigeria cannot ''defeat Boko Haram'' easily because they are a terrorist organisation who do not wear uniforms, and mingle with local populations, and therefore would cause unacceptably high civilian casualties were the military to deploy maximum force to check them. The exact same problem America faces fighting groups like the Taliban and ISIS over several decades. You cannot just bomb them out of existence. Let those African countries countries come with their conventional armies and see how many seconds they will last fighting the Nigerian military. |
Xisnin:Stop blaming Buhari for the effects of the 2014 economic crash caused by the fall in oil prices, which led to lack of foreign exchange for companies to buy their foreign inputs. |
Multiplier7:A new terminal was just commissioned in Port harcourt which looks almost exactly like this Kano airport. Plus a new terminal is nearing completion at MMA Lagos. The Lagos - Ibadan rail line is not a ''promise''. It is nearing completion. The Ajaokuta-Itakpe line is completed, while billions of dollars' contracts have been awarded for East - West rail lines. You people should stop drowning in negativity. |
cuteboy2:Don't be silly. What do you mean they ''reside in'' the artefacts? Does Jesus ''reside in'' the cross you wear on your neck? Those artefacts are merely religious symbols. |
ursullalinda:How many factories have you visited in Nigeria this year? How many factories in Nigeria have you ever visited? |
BeachTime:Nigeria does not have to be moulded in your image for it to be a success. Saying stuff like ''Armed robbery, kidnapping and murder should be swift death sentence....Punishment for fraud should be 20 years in prison.... Government official corruption and embezzlement should be 50 years..'', ignores and disrespects the fact that this is a DEMOCRACY. Such draconian measures rarely occur in democracies, for the simple reason that necessary compromise amidst competing viewpoints will entail a moderation of extreme impulses, no matter how warranted. So unless you're saying Nigeria should become a dictatorship, you can forget those ideas. The prevailing wisdom in our democracy is that such vices are best mitigated by increasing economic opportunities for the masses as opposed to more draconian punishment for offenders. A national ID database is needed to keep tab of activities . Secure the borders and improve security by having CCTV cameras at highways, major roads and other public spaces . Valid National ID should be prerequisite for lodging at hotels, schooling, healthcare, and employment . Uninterrupted electricity . And as mentioned earlier, building codes to ensure better living conditions.A lot of these things require money. This thread is about increased manufacturing, which, if sustained, will grow govt coffers to no end via corporate taxes. |
For someone who supposedly did not 'go to school', Mr President's recent policies certainly seem very well thought-out, creative, imaginative, and effective. Add this to a record low level of corruption at federal level. Part of me wishes he could do a third term to be honest. |
Kapeter:Use your brain. The colonialsts did not act uniformly in every territory they seized. They actually built functional societies in countries they chose to, such as those with large white settler populations like SA, Canada, US etc, and reinvested export proceeds to develop them, while in other territories, they did nothing but loot while doing nothing to develop the territories. All black Africa falls in this category. At independence in 1960, Nigeria had not one power station, expressway, or university, in the entire country despite British rule of 60+ years. Can you say the same about colonies in America, Canada, SA, Hong Kong, etc? Nope. We literally started everything in 1960. |
cuteboy2:That's as dumb as saying Jesus is lying on a cross on your chest. |
cuteboy2:The gods are not artefacts. |
Is Buhari the New Paul Kagame? Nigerian Central Bank's Credit Push Boosts Manufacturing Sector - Lending in Africa's largest economy has boosted manufacturing in Nigeria by more than $1 billion in six months. Bloomberg, Al Jazeera. Nigeria's manufacturing sector is the biggest winner of central bank policies that have forced lenders to extend more credit to the private sector. Lending to manufacturing companies in Africa's most-populous country from May to the end of October totaled 459.7 billion naira ($1.3 billion), the most in two decades, central bank Governor Godwin Emefiele told reporters Tuesday in the capital, Abuja. .....................https://nipc.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/e9088d63-manufacturing-2.jpg The central bank last month gave lenders until the end of the year to boost their loan-to-deposit ratios to 65% or risk being fined and expects economic growth to pick up as a result of the policy. Citigroup Inc. and Zenith Bank Plc were among a dozen lenders punished by the bank for failing to meet an earlier target to lend at least 60% of their deposits by end of September. Nigeria's Monetary Policy Committee held its benchmark rate for a fourth straight meeting, saying the surge in inflation to a 17-month high after the country closed its borders is just temporary. "The committee urged the management of the bank to sustain its current effort to improve lending to the private sector and to explore other initiatives to provide funding to the other critical sectors of the Nigerian economy," Emefiele said. Farmers are happy, and are hiring more hands due to increased demand. Farmers constitute a huge chunk of our population. Their living standards will rise, together with their families. That is all we need to know. The border closure was a success. Thank you Mr President. |
welturebotanical:A company that sees the huge profits possible in a 200 million strong population and market. Do you realise that Nigeria will be the 3RD most populous nation on earth after China and India by 2050? Any wise business today will build the biggest factory it possibly can in Nigeria, to meet the the present and coming demand. |
Jabioro:I notice you didn't answer the question. Name a history book you've read on the African past. |
Obi1kenobi:White neo-nazi redneck pretending to be Nigerian. Who asked your opinion? |
RZArecta2:The thing about Amadioha is that he is slow to anger, but when he's pushed, it's highly devastating. |
immhotep:www.nairaland.com/attachments/9260844_tutblackegypt_jpeged06cf847f64ceba62fed2e9a8ab35bc Interesting choice. King Tut was an absolute icon in the ancient world. Son of Pharaoh Akhenaten, Tutankhamen become Pharaoh of Egypt at the age of 8. But of course he was guided by a vizier. ![]() |

giant in poverty, lawlessness and stvpidity, huh? Giant, my azz.
