Failures' attitude is the same as yours.
Successful people think, ''where is FG investment going to be going into with the new funds coming in?'', and then position themselves to capitalise on the new budgetary allocations to the relevant sectors.
FAILURES sit down in their backyard and wait for the money to arrive at their front door, ''for the masses'', failing which it means the leaders have ''ate the money''.
SUCCESSES go out there and GET theirs. |

Africa's top oil and gas producer and exporter, Nigeria, is the new focus of attention by European powers desperately seeking to wean themselves off dependence on Russian gas, following the latter's invasion of Ukraine.EU To Replace Gas from Russia with NigeriaThe European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS said on Friday that, it would replace the gas from Russia with Nigerian Gas due to the invasion in Ukraine.
The Deputy Director-General Department for (Energy), European Commission in Brussels, Mr Matthew Baldwin, said this at a news conference on Friday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Baldwin will be meeting with Nigerian top government officials and private sector players, including key stakeholders in the country’s Energy Sector.
NAN reports that the EU’s executive body had urged member states to slash their gas consumption by 15 per cent as it warned that a complete shutdown of Russian supplies was “likely”.
The EU has been scrambling to wean itself off Russian gas since the invasion of Ukraine, but is alarmed about a potential energy crisis this winter.
“In summary, I am on a mission from Europe to try to deliver Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) today in the context of NLG partnership tomorrow with Nigeria.
“Europe is in a tight spot in relation to gas, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the instability in our gas market, and the threat of cutting off supply altogether.
“So, we have launched the energy platform task force and the primary goal is to reach out to our reliable partners such as Nigeria to replace the gas from Russia with gas from reliable partners, like Nigeria.” he said.
“To be clear, we need to manage the supply side and that’s why we want to expand what is currently at 14 per cent shares of our total LNG import from Nigeria and we want it to go up.
“Our gas percentage was 60 per cent but now we want to go,’’ he said.
He added that Nigerian products had an extraordinary potential and that was why EU wanted to expand the short-term delivery.
Also, he said that by the end of August this year EU hopefully to kick start the partnership, adding that, it would create a long term partnership with Nigeria.
Speaking also, Ms Samuela Isopi, the EU delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, said that the bloc was doing its part in contributing to the energy sector through different collaborations with Nigerian Government.
She said that currently, EU’s contribution stands at 400 million euros. The EU as a bloc remains Nigeria’s biggest trading partner accounting for more than 20 per cent of Nigerian trade with the world.
In 2021 the volume of EU-Nigeria trade stood at 28.7 billion euros (an increase of more than 25 per cent over 2020) with a trade balance of 6.4 billion euros in favour of Nigeria. https://guardian.ng/news/eu-to-replace-gas-from-russia-with-nigeria/

His trip to Egypt has exposed Buhari's government lethargy and corruption in the power sector, so much so that this government was shocked into doing something about Nigeria's totally inadequate power situation.
Egypt only needed six weeks to negotiate with Siemens, while Buhari's government needed many years. If not for Obi's trip to Egypt and Obi's diligence in pointing out how the president of Egypt took the Egypt power situation seriously, Buhari wouldn't have OK'ed this deal to go ahead.

The main problem is not power generation, as Nigeria has installed generating capacity approaching 13,000 megawatts.
The problem is in transmission and distribution, and this is Siemens' area of expertise.
Siemens are not a mushroom company. They have a reputation to uphold. They don't just take on any project because of money. It must be viable or they'll refuse.
They've come to Nigeria, and done their various assessments of the power infrastructure on ground, and concluded it was feasible.
And then they agreed to take on the project.
And Nigeria is dropping the money in cash.
Sot it's really just a question of when, not if, the power crisis in Nigeria will become history. |

confluence: When their term in office is almost over, this was a project conceived years ago by previous government, all they needed to do was to consolidate and continue , the late chief of staff Aba Kyri even travel to Germany several times, nothing was done Another blind criticism. The contract to Siemens was awarded in early 2020 following their success in Egypt, and execution was stalled by the 'covid crisis' as the whole world went on lockdown for nearly 2 years. Now it's finally back on stream, and new transmission/distribution equipment is expected in September. Serious work is ongoing to ensure a major increase in power output in this country. Be patient. |

FG releases $100m to Siemens to further power sector rehabilitationJuly 7, 20222By Habeeb Adamu The Federal Government of Nigeria [has released] $100 million to Siemens to carry on with the necessary rehabilitation works in the power sector. This is coming on the basis of an agreement between the government and the National Assembly on the compelling need to improve the power supply situation in the country. The agreement would enable Siemens to strengthen the necessary infrastructure that would raise the country’s power generation to 7,000 megawatts (MW) under the Presidential Power Initiative. Gabriel Suswan, chairman, Senate Committee on Power, who disclosed this Wednesday at the Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference in Abuja, said Siemens AG’s accomplishment of a similar plan in Egypt gives hope that the Nigeria Electricity Roadmap (NER) is possible and achievable. The Siemens Power Project under the Presidential Power Initiative is aimed at increasing Nigeria’s electricity from the current 4,500 MW to 25,000 MW, but this will come in phases. The phases cover the upgrading and expansion of the Transmission Networks (TN) and Distribution Companies (DisCos) networks, improvement of access to affordable, efficient and reliable electricity, and providing support for industrial and economic growth in the country. In Nigeria, the imbalance between power generation, evacuation, dispatch and consumption is a major challenge for the population of over 200 million people. While over 13 GW of grid power generation capacity is installed, only approximately 3.4 GW reaches consumers on average. Siemens was introduced to assess the situation in Nigeria’s power sector, alongside other stakeholders from Nigeria’s Ministry of Power, Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), (NERC), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and DisCos, with an immediate priority to enhance the transmission and distribution segment of the power sector. “Given Siemens AG’s accomplishment of a similar plan in Egypt and also its reputation as an international giant in the power sector related engagements, it is strongly believed that the Nigeria Electricity Roadmap (NER) is possible and achievable,” Suswan said. https://www.businessamlive.com/fg-to-release-100m-to-siemens-to-further-power-sector-rehabilitation/ |
