Oga me, is this gauge are use by officials when they came for inspections of jobs before casting without asking for eguje now. In this part of the world that is the law, it’s is rigorous enforced. Matter of fact, some of those inspectors make more money then some low level engineers in that field. Those officers are so empowered to shoot down the site immediately if they see proof wrong doing , they can initiate suits between the Contractor and State. My brother I don’t think any contractor as lever to face State in court.

As individuals it’s good to have this simple handy gauge
In Lagos here just of recents Lagos state govt are in serious checking on steel manufacturing companies to make sure that all there steel are in standard gauge,this caused increment on iron rod which is VERY OK
You will notice that 12mm looks real like 12mm rod now same applicable to others sizes.( locally made rod) BUT few bad ones are still available oo.
Real TmT Tiger and the likes remain same even before now, they didn’t tampered with the gauge

Yes that is it “ prevention is better than cure”
2 years ago I treated a story building of dampness issue .( 6 flats) spent about 600k to get it done.

You can’t believe it , I came across serious dampness in Niger state ( suleja) the dampness reached window base level both internal and external to the extent that the owner vacated the building .
In all my project now I do follow the full “definition of rising dampness”
It didn’t stated that such soils and area should be exempted ” means all soil and region needs dam proof.
That is my own simple understanding and prevention about it now

I don’t usually comment on something like this again bcs of personal reason based on my experience on comment here about cost of Labour etc.

But to help you out the price you got from your vendor looks nearly what you will spend.
Reason is this
1-Your location determine
2- based on southwest charges here, those guys do charge btw 4500-5000 per linear meter and based on my experience in building industry your building size in linear meter will be around 45meters
45*4500=202,000
Or
45*5000=225,000

So just call your vendor to discuss reasonable price with him based on this calculation.
