I don't think this is a gate...it does look like one actually..... It will be nice if someone can design a gate like that tho. But this is a TV /media console.

I stumble on the same pics on Pinterest last year February or so as gate and I loved to replicate same on this ongoing project ( pics attached)
Late last year I found same gate design in Benin GRA area

Ratio for rendering 1:4
Ratio for plastering 1:5

But professionalism play here too.. reason for the neat job..

Which sand is the best for plastering?

In some state / area combination of plaster and sharp sand are used to get good result.

While In some area they used only one type of soft- sharp sand as sharp and at the same time used it as plaster sand ( in this situation experience count to get good result

I'm having the same issue on my project. The cracks appeared after plastering and nobody been able to give convincing reason for the cracks

2 things involved in plastering to get good results
- selection of materials sand/ cement
- professionalism.

Reason why I do go extra miles to get good results in all my plastering/ rendering work.

Check below diff states in Nigeria where I carried out some finishings and construction work.
You hardly see cracks. In difficult situations of getting good sand I do apply another methodology to get minimal tiny crack in one or two places if the work is gigantic one .
