Woww, let's go their
What a story. Indeed igbos are resilient, after d Civil War, some were given 20 pounds even if u had 1m pounds u collect 20. From 20 pounds to multimillion business empire.
Is only igbo that can do that in Nigeria, if not this apprenticeship, North and West for just dey bully igbos anyhow, but man is not gawd
Is this really a movie review or another avenue to drag non-igbos as it is the custom? You guys have used this 20 pound narrative to propagate your gospel of hatred for too long. First, I do not know of any country where after a bitter war the government was so magnanimous as to give anything back (whether money or material possession) to the rebels who started the war in the first place. Second of all, how do you determine who had how much before the war when all banks and financial records were utterly blown off in a war that lasted 3 years? Your "elders" that lied to you didn't tell you that in some parts of the country (the South West especially) property were given back to the igbo? This is 2024 y'all should grow beyond "petty tribalism"

For those denigrating Soyinka because he isn't one if the greatest writers according to op's list, he is not a novelist. Soyinka is a poet cum dramatist. Achebe was a storyteller par excellence and each of them is a king in his domain. Period !

Obi2saveNigeria:

Land is dirt cheap in the sadwaste. With 500k you can buy land in any of their rusted roof slum cities. But how many of them can afford 10 million to buy just one plot in the Eastern cities?

Their problem is largely poverty mixed with ignorance.
Apparently, you were raised in abject poverty hence the bitterness in you. And for you to think that no Yoruba can afford #10m to buy a piece of land in your "Unknown Gunmen Republic", what you have in your skull is definitely not a brain.

Quote me and get dragged in the mud.

Politics / Re: Foriegn Media Slam Tinubu (Photos) by Rotentik19: 2:45pm On Aug 07, 2023
franchasofficia:
If Yorubas truly wanted to produce President with pride, what stopped them from supporting Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, and many other honorable Yoruba men with clean history and record?

It is this identity-less criminal called Tinubu that everything about him reeks of criminality and corruption Yoruba youths are queueing behind in the name of 'Yoruba Ronu'? Bola Tinubu a drug lord cum Lagos treasury looter that pocketed Lagos state for 23 years and stole Lagos dry, ah Yoruba ronu oh shocked

It is like Igbos massively support a criminal politician like Rochas Okorocha, Hope Uzodinma, and co who are known 419 men that made the money they used in joining politics from defrauding white people in what we call Yahoo Yahoo today.

Very shameful of Yorubas that claim to love education, they allowed Tinubu's stolen and ill gotten wealth to deceive them all, kai angry
Ogbeni, I agree with you that a man with "integrity deficiency" should not be found in our leadership/political space. However, there's no "saint" in Nigerian politics. Not even Obi can be called a saint (no pun intended). The sitting president is a "dividend" of the rotten political system of which Obi is also a member. For us to have a change of narrative, what we need is "Overhauling" the Jerry Rawlings kind of change. The point @ which I strongly disagree with you is the blanket submission that Yorubas were/are rooting for Mr president... Well every key political figure in history (heroes & villains) had their supporters . As bad as Abacha was, some persons cried when he died. It is no surprise therefore that some Yoruba support Tinubu, it's normal in politics. It is unfortunate however that you just cannot see beyond tribe/ethnic affiliation-every issue must be viewed as igbo vs yoruba, it's sad really. Not one single individual has acknowledged the fact that millions of Yoruba across board...from the intelligenstia to the man on the street, stood solidly behind Peter Obi before, during and even till now. To conclude that all Yorubas are blindly supporting Tinubu is (to say the least) ridiculous. Please let's be balanced in our view and not be unduly sentimental about sensitive issues that require sincerity. I have no doubt that you hate the Yoruba, but try not to let that bias becloud your sound judgement. Even the Yorubas that suport Obi are beginning to get irritated. All they get in return for their support for a man they see as capable is insult and all forms of degradation and boldfaced unapologetic rudeness from his kinsmen. Yoruba are liberal people; highly cosmopolitan in their ways. Because if we should go by Nigeria's political trajectory, the igbo have always played strong and rather unhealthy opposition to the Yoruba. Azikiwe made all efforts to frustrate Awolowo's idea of southerners coming together to form a political front, because he had foresight. He knew we were totally different from the North not just in politics but in everything. He even suggested that a "secession clause" be put in our constitution but Zik & goons opposed vehemently. If that clause had existed, Biafra would have been a reality long before now. In 1993, the ibos were the only ones that rejected MKO Abiola out of the four states in the east, he didn't win any(I stand to be corrected) it was Tofa that won the South east. Not because Abiola was the worst candidate, but because he was Yoruba. So, the hatred "no be today" but pls let's put all that aside and embrace objectivity henceforth if we really want a meaningful change. Stay blessed.

Curtisaxel10:
You talked about hatred projected during the last elections but let me kindly remind you that no single Yoruba was harmed, beaten, or harassed in any way here in the Southeast despite the horrible treatment our people recieved in Lagos. We are a peaceful people.

You are welcome to my lovely state. I assure you, you have nothing to fear. Feel free and enjoy yourself. We have many Yorubas living and working in peace here without being harassed by thugs or asked to return to their state of origin. I'm sure you must have met some of them.

If your PPA is in the state capital, I would be honored to host you in my humble abode sometime. Nnooo nwannem. You are welcome.
My friend you're not being honest @ all & you know it. Your hypocrisy is apparent and annoying too. Yoruba people are not known to cause trouble or malign their hosts. That's why they don't have problems wherever they go. Contrary to what uninformed folks like you think, Yoruba travel too. Go to any part of Nigeria; east, south, north they're there, albeit in small population. Pursuing their respective endeavors, without being rude or claiming "no-man's-land" or the "they're jealous of us & don't want us to progress" or "we are the best tribe in Nigeria, all other tribes in Nigeria are trash(especially Yoruba)" or "if we leave Nigeria, all of you will suffer and die"...bla... bla... Whatever thugs or agberos or the govt is doing wrong in Lagos, everyone, irrespective of tribe suffers from it. Ibos are not the only tribe in Lagos. The alaba market demolition is an example. Some Yoruba traders were affected as well. During the last election, some non-igbos were intimidated in the east also. There are agberos or motor park touts in the east too, but they make it look like a Yoruba thing. If you guys have federal power, I bet you'll just destroy everybody at once. If you're welcome and accepted in a place, you say it's because they are backward & they need you to develop. When you're rebuked for your excesses, you start crying "hatred for igbo" etc. If you behave well in Yoruba land(and even other parts of Nigeria) you'll have no problems. All over the world, people understand that welcoming visitors is integral to social/ economic growth(America understands this principle) it is only the Easterners in Nigeria that don't understand this principle. Anywhere you live and make your money, marry & birth your children, even if it is a village, it is a fertile ground and should not be desecrated. If the igbo don't change their mentality/attitude to others, they'll continue to have issues. Stay blessed!

Na only Lagos wey NIGERIA developed for Una , Una go dey make noise with.

Except Lagos, I don't even know how relevant other south west states are.
That's because you just like your kinsmen are ignorant and myopic. Industrialization is common to every state in the South West. Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun & Lagos, all have one foreign investments. I don't know how many states in the east can match Oyo state's IGR annually. You all claim that the West is all about Lagos, but your people are all over the South West even in Villages. Because you know deep in your heart, that for any ibo man to make it in life, he must leave the East and travel anywhere. Any other place is fertile except the South East.

Peter Obi loves everyone, even those that didn't understand him.

I haven't seen anyone so meek, humble and yet firm and energetic and an all round leader like Peter Obi in Africa.

But we love to glorify criminality, that's why they ended up with a drug addict with limited cognitive functions.
Oga, he just trying hard to appeal to public sentiment. Deep down his heart, he doesn't like the Prof. Obi is typical Nigerian politician.

I watched in shock as an ss1 student wail unconsollably, just because she was beaten in mathematics, by another student.
On the prize giving day her mother came to make trouble, she just can't understand that another child is better than hers, because this girl has been winning this price since jss 1.
What she didn't know is that the girl that beat her child, was a new comer to that school.
Even the school was shocked, but the girl who beat their champion was a no nonsense competitor.
Private school are all about money, they called the actual winner aside, " you did not pay for end of the year party, the other girl paid ", can you get your mother to the party money, so that we can give you your price?.
The girl's mother had no money at that moment, and school authority were like " party money and much more, are also part of the merit ".
So the price was given to the loser while winner looked away.
The girl that was robbed is now studying information technology, while madam I better pass my neighbor is still slugging it out with JAMB, because she's yet to meet the cut off points.
Mesoma is brilliant no doubt, her greatest undoing is mistaking JAMB for her school examinations. You sound as someone who knows the girl one on one.

God gave us that and made sure to give you people rock , it's either you find a way to utilize the rocks or slam your heads on it 😂😂😂
Who's this stark illiterate with cheap data ? You have oil & you think it's something to be happy about? Is the so-called "oil producing region" better than the "rocky" South West? The Yoruba were several years ahead of y'all, even when oil wasn't found yet. May God punish backward minded greedy politicians who have taken the South West back by several years, if not what is Niger Delta? Even some parts of the much vilified North is better developed than the Niger Delta, sometimes it's better to just be quiet than display ignorance on forums like this.
