Naajjii:I think you missed the point. Thought I am a Northerner, I know quite clear that the agitation for a break up or at least a restructure from the Southern part of the country has nothing to do with where the president currently comes from, but all to do with the current level of injustice in the land; the unabated killings, kidnapping and maiming of the people by suspected Fulanis; the destruction of farms, lives and properties by suspected Fulani herdsmen; the current banditry and terrorism activities which has unfortunately turnned out to be a lucrative business for the North; the nepotism, sectionalism and favourism of the present government. These have cause untold hardship for the people in the South, hence the agitation. should Nigeria effect a change in leadership of the country from the North to the South without a corresponding change in the aforementioned, I am sorry to say that these agitation for a break up or total restructure will still continue. It's not about where the president comes from but about injustice meted onto a section of the country. |

TheRareGem1:We should be truthful to ourselves at least for once. I don't seem to understand all the hype. Is directing state governments/governors to set up judicial commissions an achievement worth celebrating? What does it take to give a directive? What does it really take to sign a deal on behalf of the federal government? Everyone in position of authority does that. Being it ministers, head of government parastertals, state governments commissioners etc. You too can do that should you holding a position of authority and the need arises. A government can come in and with 2 to 3 working days, do much more than all those things you mentioned. 2 days are enough to give so many directives for the implementation of so many things. Infact, in just you day, you can direct the state governments to for example, implement minimum wage, local government, judicial and state legislative autonomies; direct the ministries of finance, education and labour to implement FG/ASSU agreement; direct alll heads of security agencies the relocate to the Northeast zone. So, you can see that so much directives can be issued in just 1 day. Same goes to signing of agreement/deals on behalf of the government. So, what's the big deal here. |

yanabasee1:You are just supporting and campaigning for the VP, Prof. Osibanjo. Your aurgement is not really convincing. Perhaps, the guy you quoted made meaning. It's quite true that people seems to be patriotic until given a chance. They seems tobri have solutions to our challenges untill given the mandate. Seems to be totally for the Nigerian masses until they assume position of responsibility. That you read about Osibanjo's past record and a friend briefed you about him sound childish. Do you realize how good people still talked about Buhari. Have you not held the heavenly things said about the late Mallam Aba Kyari? I held people who are close to the present Kaduna state governor, praised him as in high heaven same goes to all leaders and politicians. Ours may be a totally different case, because here in Nigeria, people excell well in their chosen careers only to fail in public service. Come to think of it, why will want to depend so much on Osibanjo's past records you only read where as you have Mr. Osibanjo right now as the VP? What logic do you have in trusting what you only read more than what you are seen with your eye? Is Prof. Osibanjo's actions and inactions as VP not worth judging someone's sincererity about the love and commitment for a better Nigeria? Can't judges someone's level of patriotism from his position as number two citizen? In case you can't let give you a little hint. Nigeria has never been divided the way she is now, courtesy the government ( in which Osibanjo is the second in command) injustice to some section of the country, favourism to some section and lopside appointments. What has been Osibanjo's stance against such unpatriotic acts as the second in command. Will a true patriotic citizen align with a group in taken actions that are capable breaking down his own country? What happens to divorcing the marriage? 1 Like |

farem:Those things are said may not actually be true in at least some cases. Take my self as a good example, someone else is being contracted to teach my younger ones even when I am home. Does that necessarily means I can't handle their assignments or teach them? far from it. I can very well teach their contracted teachers should they have a challenge. For me, I could solve those questions effortlessly back in my JSS 2 and 3. Sometimes, it's time and other factors that hindered those. like the guy you quoted rightly said, the standard of education might have drop in our time, that does not means the present generation are not good enough. This generation is full of very smart kids. The challenge here is that very child is in the school unlike in those days. 1 Like |

plaindealer:What will the average Nigerian gain from comparing past and present administration? I already told you I am not after comparing administrations. Is there a point in doing that? The primary objective of any patriotic Nigerian right now should be a better Nigeria and not comparing successive governments. It's however, unfortunate that some Nigerian youths like you don't see it in that angle but are, unfortunately, rather, more concerned about comparing successive governments using tribalism, religion, political affiliation, etc as indices How well or bad Nigeria and Nigerians are faring is not important. The direction the country is going does not matter to Nigerian youths. What a shame. For God sack, GEJ is now in the past. He has been out of government for more than five years now, why the obsession with him. Don't get me wrong, I am not elated to defend GEJ here. He played his part and there was a reason why he was rejected at the poll in 2015. This clearly means that Nigerians were not satisfied with his performance and they also cried out loud. That is, however, in the past now. Do we leave our current situation now and focus on the past? is that how we are going to make our progress as a nation? Is that how other nations evolved to become developed societies? Who are we copying this method from? The Asian Tigers? is that how the likes of China, Singapore, Japan, etc did them? Ours must be a very unique country indeed. Yea, our economy was not good enough under GEJ, but that the same economy keeps getting worse under PMB is not debatable. That we are now in an economic quagmire under PMB is also not news. How about the fact that we have had several economic recessions under PMB's five years of leadership? Sure, it's still not news. That our security architecture has completely failed amounts to stating the obvious. That we are experiencing a disastrous security situation as a country is not an overstatement. Recall, that the GEJ's government also faced insecurity challenges. Of course, there were issues with BOKO HARAM. But here we are battling with not BOKO HARAM alone but also, Banditry, Fulani Herdsmen, High Way Kidnapping, etc for just one country. Sure, Nigeria has not been this bad since her creation. Young Man, how can you tell me that we are better off now. As patriotic a citizen, these issues are disturbing a lot. A sober reflection on our current situation as a country and the direction we are going is always proceeded by serious weeping and a series of sleepless nights. I seriously weep for Nigeria my country! My consolation most times arises from the hope of a better younger generation of Nigerians. The past and present generations of Nigerian leaders have failed her. The only hope we now have is you, the youths. You can't afford to fail the country. For should you also fail us, then, the country is completely gone. You can see why I am pained by your comments. |
