FoodRe: Leaving The Chemical Based Foods, For The Natural. by Rubyventures: 6:35pm On Mar 17, 2013
Get or use a small portion of land to plant vegs and herbs. Eg tomatoes, water leaf, bitter leaf pumpkin, sage tyme, oregano, okro etc this means you get it fresh to your pot, its easy to start you can even use containers. The planting season is about to start so you can start preparing your soil. There is nothing to be ashamed of and most especially you will know where your food comes from.
When it comes to juices 90% of what is in the shops are laced with chemicals. You can save and buy a good juicer, for your fresh juices e.g pineapple, watermelon orange.

Most especially surround your environment with plants, the fumes from generators and cars contribute mostly to the short lifespan especially in cities such as lagos. I hope this has helped? Goodluck.

jp philips: what do you understand by a group of adults locking themselves up in a room for days to select a leader for over 1billion people? an action that was never replicated by Jesus the Owner of the religion they represent?

now tell me, is the Papacy bigger than Jesus?? if Jesus did not do it then it is unchristian and as such doesn't have a place in the church. this is common sense.or is there a place in the bible where Jesus and his apostles had a conclave to select any form of leadership?

Peter was the head of the apostles was he selected through conclave? so the present day Roman Catholics now know more than Jesus in his own religion? i dey laugh!!!

If you want to understand, then read more about the Catholic faith before you start to criticize, I do not understand the faith of other religions so i will not critisise their religion. instead i will ask my questions in such a way as not to offend. I have a friend who is hindu and one of the nicest peson i know, when i ask about the hindu religion this person is always so happy to explain cetain things to me and then i understand why they do certain things. I also have Muslim friends and i do the same, we should learn to tolerate and not antagonise.

There is a vast library of knowledge on the internet go and do your reseach and learn more. Knowledge is power.

Let's try and be mindful of our utterances towards the religion of others and show a bit of respect especially when you do not understand.

surveycash: You are point. We love follow follow too much. I once looked that direction but was turned off by shipping feee. Imagine a shipping fee of 1500 usd for your 300usd solar kit? shocked I'll check again now that there is experience
julius99: this solar panel kits below $300 can the power a laptop and for how long because the type of sunshine in my area hmm it can boil water within 5mins too much sunshine and heat and PHCN is not helping matters. Just ask anybody about the heat now in Makurdi. The solar panel kits would be good if it can power a laptop and a printer
I found one on Amazon and when i looked at the feedback one customer said her 5 year old could fit it i.e (user friendly directions) and they used it to power their caravan while on holiday in the UK. Dont forget that the UK has not got a lot of sunshine. They had a telly, a drink fridge, laptop etc so i will say this is very good value for money and something that can be looked into.

I've been following this thread from the begining now and i noticed that most people are not thinking outside the box. Nigeria is a country that has got more than 10 hours of sunshine everyday. What about solar panels? With the inconsistent electricity and noise and air pollution from generators. There are solar panel kits under $300 at least this is a start. It will be more beneficial to flood the market with solar panels than Brazilian weaves and tablets..

HealthFive Surprising Ingredients We Unknowingly Eat by Rubyventures(op): 3:33pm On Feb 01, 2013
While reading food labels is helpful for identifying what ingredients have gone into your food, there are some things you won’t see listed on packages but which most of us eat every day. Check out these five shocking things we unknowingly eat.

Arsenic

Many of us view rice as a pretty safe, healthy food; however, studies have suggested that it may also contain unsafe levels of the toxic substance arsenic. One study has suggested that one in five packs of American long-grain rice contain potentially harmful levels of the toxic substance, while others have reported concern for the levels of arsenic in rice milk and baby rice. In fact, according to tests by Consumer Reports, those who ate rice had 44 per cent greater levels of arsenic in their bodies than those who had not. While there is relatively little risk of the odd bowl of rice causing any long lasting harm, the popular grain may be best enjoyed in moderation if reports are to be believed.

Insects

Most of us wouldn’t class insects as a component of our diets; however, you may be eating more of them than you think, as well as your fair share of rodent hair over the years. Surprisingly, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows for “natural defects” in food by permitting a certain amount of bugs and rodent hair to be present in food products. For example, chocolate products may contain an average of 60 insect fragments and one rodent hair per 100g, while citrus fruit juice can contain one maggot per 250ml.

Lead

Ladies, how often have you applied your lipstick in the morning only to find your glossy pout has faded within a matter of hours? While some of your makeup will inevitably smear off on objects throughout the day, apparently the average woman also eats a whopping four to nine pounds of lipstick in her lifetime! As a 2004 study revealed that up to 28 per cent of lipsticks contain chemicals that can cause cancer and a 2007 study by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics found that more than 50 per cent of lipstick brands contained lead, this may be bad news for our health. To cut down your consumption of lead and look after your health, try switching to natural, organic brands of lipstick.

Wood

From cooking utensils to tables and chairs, wood is an essential ingredient of many of our must-have items. However, did you know it is also a component of a large amount of the foods we eat? Cellulose (wood pulp) is increasingly added to processed foods to thicken foods, add texture and replace more expensive ingredients like flour and oil. While there are no reported health problems associated with consuming cellulose, it may come as a surprise to many that they are regularly splashing their cash on food products bulked out with wood.

48 teaspoons of sugar

While many of us make a conscious effort to limit the amount of sugar in our diets, research has shown that even if you steer clear of obvious sources of sugar such as desserts and chocolate, you may still be eating well over the recommended maximum sugar intake. According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, food companies have been increasing the sugar content of processed foods to make them more appetising, meaning that many are unaware of just how much they are eating. The study showed that some of us are unknowingly eating up to 46 teaspoons a day, increasing risk of health conditions including heart disease.
