Backorder is a sales term, it refers to an order being accepted for items even when the item is currently not available FOR when it becomes available. In domain registration, it means you pay for a domain pending the day it becomes available, it will then be registered for you.

You don't have to worry checking and checking if it becomes available. grin

gabriel74: Thanks for all the response, but this so called blackhostafrica has not been replying my emails, i asked them for the EPP code, no response, i called the number switched off. anyway, thanks all i have decided to let it go.

I can see they're running WHMCS, you can obtain your domain EPP Code by following these steps:

1) Go to http://www.blackhostafrica.com/billing/clientarea.php
2) Login to your account.
2) Go to My Domains and click Manage Domain
3) Check Registrar Lock and click Disable.
4) Check Management Tools and Click "Get EPP Code".

Okay, now you're ready to transfer your domain. If anything else, you may want to check Domain Contact still under Management Tools to be sure you're the Admin contact of the domain. Move fast to any hosting provider of choice.

If you own the domain and have access to the EPP Code you may be able to transfer it. You can contact the host you want to move to, they should be able to help. Unless you want to back-order like most suggest. But back-ordering is not always ideal, you may still lose it to squatters. Don't fall a victim! cry

The best is to transfer it, if it has expired; renew it and transfer afterwards.

.com|whois.crsnic.net|No match for(If Domain is not registered it returns available)

Now in the case of our Nigeria domain

.com.ng|whois.nic.net.ng|no (This returns all as available including registered domain)
How do one fixed this.

I contacted NIRA domains to fix this, but its like they don't know what a Match Sting is.

schneid: hello gurus, i want to transfer my clients website from my old hosting to new hosting. my headache is:
i have created new hosting account for all the websites but i didnt want to change the dns yet.
i have joomla installed on all the old sites which i needed to transfer using akeeba or any other good one.
since i have not changed the DNS, HOW DO I ACCESS THE NEW WEBSITES SINCE THE DOMAIN IS STILL POINTING TO THE OLD HOSTING.

APART FROM AKEEBA, WHICH OTHER GOOD TOOL CAN I USE TO TRANSFER?

If you are not familiar or have root access to either of the servers, let your host do the transfer for you. Alternatively, you can backup and transfer the sites your self (technically not for newbies).

You don't have to worry, trust me you won't even need it. Do you know that techcrunch.net exist aside AOL's .com? but who cares? NOBODY!

I tell will you from my personal experience, I wasted time and money to ensure that i have every domain aimtech realated. From aimtechng.com to aimtechnigeria.com and even all the .nets' - How has it helped me in any way? - This is five years ago and business has not increased or decreased because of those names.

Hmmm you begged the hacker? LOL

Well, this is what you should do:

1) Clean all infected files in your account and remove any unknown/un-needed files
2) Change all passwords including cPanel, and FTP
3) Scan your computer for viruses, some exploits are caused by a virus on your computer getting your login and uploading files
4) Update all applications on your account and remove any insecure plugins

You can register .gov.ng domains and host with www.gigalayer.com, but you need to have a government letter-headed request letter for the domain to be registered with NIRA. As an individual, you cannot register .gov.ng undecided

You should consider www.gigalayer.com for either of the VPS or Shared Hosting. You can always move to a Dedicated Server free of charge.

You should contact your host, they will be able to assist you in the transfer of your existing website (most web hosts do). If you have bulk websites, you may be required to pay some few bucks to have them transferred.

Foriegn host I think myhosting.com and siteground.com are doing real good. HostGator is also killing it.
