Pls feel to share your Keto journeys here

So I have been on Keto for one week now and I must confess that it works.



One of the reasons why it works is that it gives your body the right tool to addresses underlying insulin resistance issues that lead to weight gain. Merely recusing my portion while still feeding my body carbs did not work as I was still feeding the body wrong and not helping it reverse insulin resitiance and use ketones for energy. Going to the gym also did not work as i was gainign muscle under my fat and just becoming bulkier, Besides, rigorous workouts make me extra hungry/famished and I end up feeding it wrongly with too many carbs aand eating more calories that i burnt at the gym.



An interesting journey so far. My result? I am able to wear my pregnancy clothes again.

After my first baby, i bought some UK size 14 clothes to refresh my wardrobe, I was, however, unable to fit into them after baby number 2. I had become a size 16. Between yesterday and today, I have been able to wear 2 of those clothes again. A size 14 skirt to work yesterday and a stretched size 12 jeans today. The size 16 short I bought after baby number are starting to fall and now need a belt to stay up.



So what have I been eating for the last week?



Breakfast

-Olive Oil vinegarette
-Eggs
-Sausages
-Mincemeat
-Coffee

Lunch
-Pepper soup
-Vegetable soup
-Okra Asepo Soup
-Fried meat and Fish

Snacks/Dinner

- Skin Crackers/Rind (Pomo Crakers)
- Flaxseed Crackers
- Cumcumber
- Boiled and roasted peanuts
- Coconut
- Diet Coke(Trying to stop this)

I still miss the biscuit and cakes; I am going to experiment using coconut flour over the coming days to find a palatable low card biscuit/cookie that works for me.


My exercise comes from walking - I love to walk so i try to get about 7,000 steps every day but nothing forced if there is no opportunity. The Diet alone seems to be working.



Next MileStones



Fit into clothes i had before baby number 1 - Goal date is the end of the second week in June
Fit into clothes i had before marriage
Figure out how to maintain a low-carb, high-fat lifestyle so I never gain the weight back



If you are thinking of embarking on this Keto lifestyle, yesterday was the best time to start; today is the next best day to start. It really works!

I am on day 5 and i can see results already.

The first few days of keto results in water weight loss. I know that is probably what I have going on but it is encouraging none the less.

Regarding wedding days as the happiest day is an error, it should be the beginning of happy days.
No wonder lot of folks live a miserable life after weddings because they have had their happiest day and now its time for the law of diminishing returns.

Your wedding day is surely a happy day but should be the beginning of even better days ahead.

All you need for a wedding is for the husband , wife , official and 2 witnesses to show up. Parents and family are welcomed to share our joy too. Anything after that is optional and should not require couples to go into debt to keep up with the Joneses.

Meanwhile unrealistic expectations such as these and money issues are some of root cause of divorce.

Praise God. Little princess came yesterday afternoon through scheduled induction with epidural @ 39w4d weighting in at 3.3 kg.
B.S. not dramatic as induction to birth was 4 hrs and had my epidural topped up to the end including during pushing and episiotomy stitch (can't come and kill myself). The only thing dramatic about it was trying to get to the hospital in time for my appointment through traffic- VI traffic has been crazy this week.

Baby breast and bottle feeding already. vigil has started.

Sorry to ask but pls are you sure it is malaria; somwtime pregnancy symptoms can mimic other things. Pls test before treating.

Can't you try seeing a GP if your obgyn can't see you yet

Don't know of the drug to use cause I have not treated malaria in pregnancy before; just placed on preventive medication (paludrine).

Thanks blessedmum. I am 36w3 today and I have spoken to my doc. She said there is nothing to worry about that my cervix is softening in preparation for delivery. The blood really made me freak out

I can relate to that. Another myth, don't take cold water or ice when preggy, your baby will have jaundice or blocked nose.

me I never hear this one before, not sure i can even comply if I had know about it.

I consume ice like it going out of fashion. People will wear jacket and scarf in the office and me I will still be asking tea girl to bring me a full cup of ice block that I want to drink cold water.

Same thing with first pregnancy too. My midnight snack was frozen milo/bourvita; I also Used to keep a frozen bottle of water in the freezer which I wrap in a small towel and take it to bed with me to hug.

Around 500g is normal (give or take a few grams) so 700g is not too bad yet. Were you on bed rest after your fall?

Just watch over the next 2 weeks to see how it goes and ensure the hospital also watches for signs of GD.

@runsaway My dear I took it as a service to God too,however the period has expired. My spirit started telling me that since last Dec. They were two before now,the lady move out in May.

My guest does GNLD work and have refused to get a regular job. He's not even searching,he believe that network marketing is all he needs.

He helps out with few chores not regularly anyway. I do most chores in my house,my DH is hardly home. Like there was a day my gas was leaking,my guest was home when it happened but he dressed and left home while I dropped baby to run around to get help. We get along well and there are no other major issues. However I feel he's not serious with his life and his influence on my DH is bad. He's a single man with little responsibilities,rolling with a married man. All they talk about is politics,football,university day and of course old girl friends. Whenever I brought up a serious family issue DH runs out to start their usual discussion.

6. You did not need to apply oil to the AF hourly or daily....highly unnecessary and the dripping oil will cause rashes on the baby's face. The AF is not "drying up" like many naija mums believe. You also do not need to put thread from cloth. You also do not need to mop AF with hot water or apply any substances local or herbal on it. JUST LEAVE THE AF ALONE!!!

Sô I Google-d soft spot on babies' head and I just discovered it's called Fontanelles and very normal. The posterior one will close early say 6weeks, while the anterior one takes almost a year to 18months.

Yoruba mothers call it "Oka" and they claim eating plantain while pregnant is the main cause, SMH! And to think that i stopped eating plantain

@ Runsaway, in my opinion people should be free to express their dissatisfaction about anything.
Nothing wrong in that, maybe when we onlookers express our feelings then it can let the fighters know we don't like when these things happen. One way or the other when the mud flies it stains even the passersby.

I totally agree with you on expressing displeasure, But I also tried to look at it from the angle of being an 'offender'. I hope if I ever offend on this thread that I will receive forgiveness and hopefully 'forgetfulness' from you all. That is what I struggle most with personally - hoping others forget so I can move on.

Dear, just my opinion below..... Well not really an opinion .....

You have to handle this situation with wisdom. I know it will be hard to labour at work and then bring your earnings home to feed a full grown man especially when you also have to borrow to meet other needs. I have however witnessed or been in similar situations and came to the personal conclusion that it is a /my service to God....

Do you mind if we ask - does your guest work? Does he help out dh at home with the 'manly' chores at least? Do you get along well? Is it just the financial situation causing the rift or there are other things you have not mentioned? Pls lets have more details if available .

I do agree with the mama who said you should pass a bulk of the burden of the loan repayment to your husband; pls work out with him how he can help pay back the debt even if it is 20k per month. That will provide you some relief and pacify your mum a bit....

Just my opinion below.....

An exodus of this thread is unnecessary. How many of us resign from work because of one-off office politics or confrontations?

Kindly be magnanimous enough to ignore the happenings of the last few days so that people can distance themselves from real or imagined faults and thus come to forgive themselves and others....

My hospital prescribes pronatal. You can ask your dr if you can switch to that.

Also try to keep something in your stomach always especially first thing in the morning. Used to eat like 3 to 4 pieces of Jacobs cracker with Ahmad lemon tea first thing in the morning.

We are doing fine. I was able to get cabbage and it seems to be better now. Slept for more than 3hours for the first time since I gave birth and it feels wonderful!!!

Getting to lag she insisted I go for scan and repeat all my test which I did but something was wrong MY PCV THAT WAS 35% EARLY AUG HAS REDUCED TO 25% she was scared and said devil is a liar I wasn't scared cause I tut der was still time my edd was Sept 13th she said she won't place me on drug cause there is no time that she will place me on drip and one local tea like that
I used 28th for my drip den she told me am going to fast the following day which was 29th I said I can't fast that my mom will do the fasting she just looked at me and said you know nothing, indeed I knew nothing
Very early on the 29th she woke me up to bath with prayer water and gave me some Bible verse to read den sent to to the church getting to the church she came to meet me den we started praying still around 11am then I started complaining am having serious pain in my stomach like menstrual pain she said it because am fasting (she intentionally lied to me she knew my show is starting)

Pls come and finish the story my sister, waiting with bated breath for almost 30 mins now.....

Thanks to all the amazing mamas who responded ASAP to my earlier post... U guys are life savers, and to those who read n pass.... Una dohhhh oooooo.

I went to the hospital and doc said I shud go and do a scan so we can check the position of the placenta, I told him I've done 3 scans already o, and I learnt more than 3 is not gud for the baby, he just laughed and said datz not true Oooo. Hmmmm I had to obey na. Went for the scan n was told everything was OK. So I went bck to him, he said if I still see the blood again, I shud come back... Okpari Oooo, no medication no antibiotics as I anticipated o, just thankful that my Lo is okay. Meanwhile the senographer steamed... U have passed ur due date na, ha.. I told her frm my LMP I'm 39wks MA. She said in shud forget abt that o bla bla bla.... This people can confuse somebody ehn.
