Road is designed based on traffic flow - at least in medium term. You cannot just build dual carriage in madiguaru - to be used by motorcycles? Nigeria should focus on repairing and maintaining the existing road...long before they add new roads. Most east africa countries have good roads - it very hard to find a pothole in major highways. I have NEVER seen a pothole in Rwanda. In Uganda all the major roads do not have potholes. In kenya potholes are very rare on all major highways. The roads are towns are dualized - coz there is traffic. The roads in hilly areas have extra climbing lane for slow trucks. West Africa and Central Africa is something else. The infrastructure is completely decayed - and nearly all roads look like ugly with overgrown grass and bushes. Please check LPI - logistic performance index - so you know if you're completely broken down dual roads are functioning or not. In kenya - it takes 24hours to drive from Mombasa to Malaba - and even Kampala...distance of 2,000 kilometers in a truck. In Nigeria - we heard of 78 days - a truck from Lagos port by the time it reaches Abuja will be weeks. Roan77: |
Really - that would be insane. SUFFERInSMILIIN: |
Dear the resident nutjob, Please for a change just quote credible data like below Thanks, Appisko:
|
Nigeria despite being twice kenya - has probably less road network than kenya As of 2016 - road survey - we had 230,000kms of road network 68816419:

Macrotrends is who again? This nonsense we've come to expect from a bottom feeder like you. Appisko: |
old data again. Shaytun: |
Rwanda no - the rest of course vankelvin: |
They don't...but they should 68816419: |
First search reveal 39M dollars. Not enough to fund a single Local Authority Roads. You are roads are cousins of Congo. 68816419: |
Old data. Kenya road network is now 200,000km. Nigeria is slightly higher - about 250k - despite being twice kenya. South Afric has 750k.

|
Botswana Namibia and Angola are doing fine but they can't stand Ghana. That is BOLLOX. Namibia, Angola and Botswana are miles ahead of Ghana vankelvin: |
Swaziland is actually the poorest. Namibia is at south africa level almost. I have been there. Don't go there. You're ignorant. Botswana is also good. Angola has turned the corner. But Zambia is bad. DRC Congo is worst - than West Africa. vankelvin: |
This year you budgeted for only 100m dollars to fix this gigantic mess. Nigeria relies heavily on road transport with over 90% of surface transport of goods happening by road. Poor or inappropriate maintenance has caused the 200,000km road network to decay. With little strategic direction, poorly defined plans, and unstable and unsustainable budgets, the level of service for the road network is inadequate. Shaytun: |
Using which money? Your country has only 100M dollars to maintain roads this year. Or you mean starting projects that will be completed 33yrs later. 68816419: |
Who is nuts to go swim in a ocean overflowing with sewage- even for Ghanians - that too much of health risk Most Nairobeans go to Mombasa in their thousands to enjoy the pristine beaches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFhUqN3arjI Just30: |
Those are murram roads in rural kenya. Just30: |
You're comparing festive season dumping - and Ghana oceans overflowing with sewage and garbage from town. Just30: |
Very dirty beaches. I can only imagine how it smell - and you want to compare to kenya world class beaches - the entire kenya coastline is to die for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izlnFfJkzyY Appisko: |
I was actually talking about Nigeria but I have seen your roads; they are the same with Ghana. In kenya we strictly allow max tonnage of 48 tonnes - Gross Weight - and we strictly enforce the laws. That our roads are not completely broken down like Ghana. THIS one was shot 2hours ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYRvG0XnZKQ And this one is crazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC_YYCiKyCU Just30: |
Keep your ocean as clean as Kenyan beaches - by doing basic things. West Africa zoo! Look at this - and tell me when you dirty landfill and sewage ocean will look like this - NOT in YOUR LIFETIME. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFbX8fUNDoc |
Australia? How about Ghana world class oceans? Mombasa is big city - and it's beaches are pristine - because we are not a west africa zoo. Look at your pathetic country and it's ocean. Ocean should be clear and blue. Atlantic ocean has been transformed into a landfill by west african zoos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBx7KFKwsmw Just30: |
It doesn't take long for kenya to fix road. That road is know super smooth. This not Nigeria. I tell you in Kenya the roads with potholes are countable in one hand. WE DO NOT HAVE ROADS WITH CRATERS like Nigeria. This is the upgraded Sh7 billion Mwatate-Taveta (A23) road at the Coast. It is part of the multinational Arusha-Holili/Taveta-Voi road corridor. It has opened up trade links between Kenya and Tanzania. Roan77:

Kenya steel demand/consumption should be around 2.7m now
|
Please teach us how 100M dollars is enough to maintain federal roads. 2ndly for god sake start even basic weight restriction on trucks. You are very similar to DRC Congo. Roan77: |
Kenya road quality is very high - including murram all weather roads. We spend a lot to maintain our roads. Don't rush to build dual road then allow trucks weighing 70 tonnes to fry the road into potholes. It's even better to have murram roads. Just30: |
We have oceans in kenya - but if we let sewage and garbage flow that way - we'd lose all the tourist and the entire industry. You're pathetic if you're allowing all that garbage to flow into your ocean. Just30: |
- learn to build and MAINTAIN roads. Kenya road maintenance budget is 1.5B dollars. And here is Nigeria planning to spend 100M to maintain road in a country so large.Nigeria plans $100mln investment for federal road maintenance in 2021. (Ecofin Agency) - Nigeria plans in its 2021 draft budget to invest N38 billion (about $100 million) for the maintenance of federal roads Roan77: |
Watch your completely broken down road network. Slightly better than DRC CONGO ![]() A journey that would take 48hrs take 78 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWDcQKW6FME Roan77: |
As of 2015 - kenya steel production was 0.6m - plus import of 1.5M - making total of 2m plus. Kenya’s rolling mills, which included plants operated by Athi Steel Ltd., Devki Steel Mills Ltd., and Mabati Rolling Mills Ltd., produced about 600,000 metric tons per year (t/yr) of steel products. The country also imported 1.53 million metric tons (Mt) of iron and steel products in 2015 compared with about 1.2 Mt in 2014 and about 792,000 metric tons (t) in 2011. Recent increases in production and imports of iron and steel products were attributable to growth in the construction sector. In 2015, the Government signed an agreement with Sinosteel Corp. of China for the development of a new integrated steel plant with a capacity of 2.5 million metric tons per year (Mt/yr). The Government and Sinosteel were considering the development of domestic iron ore deposits to supply the plant (Jiwaji, 2014; XNews, 2015; Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, 2016a, p. 124). |
So you have drain or rivers flowing to where all garbage is collected. Ingenious. You keep confirming our worst fears that their very little btw your ears. Just30: |
You're skirting the real issue. That river of garbage right in your city. Just30: |
This is where Nigeria should focus on. Shaytun: |
