Yet everytime I see Ghana video - all I see is TRASH, GARBAGE - including right to the ocean. Do people even swim in the altantic? Explain this garbage river. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmTYCWkGEeE Just30: |
Yes in poor neighberhood like those - sometimes county have issues - workers striking - name it. Those people are too poor or disorganized to pay private garbage collection. The problem is now largely sorted - but ongoing challenge. For rest of Nairobi - garbage is non issues - because private garbage collectors do the job. Now county gov is giving private garbage collectors contractors - so the problem will be sorted in those areas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoC3frgtCYY Just30: |
We have posted gazillion pictures and videos of Nairobi - how many times do you see garbage. You are talking about Ghana and Nigeria - NOT KENYA. Here is works in kenya - County gov collect garbage mostly in lower class estates. This normally where there is problem if county gov doesn't do a good job. County gov also collect rubbish in streets - and public spaces. In the rest of Nairobi (we are talking 95% of Nairobi landmass) - garbage collection is privatized. Every household pays something like 3-5 dollars per month. The private companies give your black polythene bag(s) for the week. You fill up you bag - and there is collection date - say Tuesday for your estate - and so you put the black polythene bag outside your gate. They pick it - put it on the truck - and they take it to Dandora dumpsite. At the dumpsite - poor people sort the waste - sell it to recycles - and the rest is stockpilled by county gov escavators. The plan now is to have huge power plant. But to imagine having little dumpsite all over like Accra - burning garbage - garbage smelling and rotting away - is to completely BASTADARDIZE the City. I even doubt you have working sewarage system. Just30: |
Why would private collectors not collect. There is hardly anything recycle from that waste btw. Look for people you can fool. Just30: |
So rather than one landfill - you want to litter the entire city with little land fills - and small recylers. Not all the waste is re-cyled. What do you do with solid waste. You start fires all over town. No wonder you city look like Nigeria - smoky. What is there to recycle in poor country like Ghana? Deal with SOLID Waste. Ours is simple. All rubbish is collected and taken to one landfill. They guys who collect include private companies. From there it can be sorted - and burnt.Nairobi generates 2,500 tonnes of solid waste daily - so annually that would be 900K tonnes. Just30: |
The hobbits are truly cursed. Kenya has 20 ministers - and these guys have 120 MINISTERS. Cabinet meeting I guess is held on HALL. The Government appointed 120 ministers and more including the position for a sanitation Minister, which the opposition NDC does not accept. I wonder how cabinet meeting are held https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxqTUfvi20U |
Every city has some little reclyclers. I see the delusion is national. First your president wants to make accra the cleanest city in Africa and here is your minister of sanitation say it's 85% - but look at ACCRA hereWHAT HELL Is wrong with GHANIAN GOV And YOU. HONESTLY. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhUXH8hJ948 Just30: |
Lame. I have watched videos of accra - and the rubbish littered everywhere is just like Nigeria cities. Nobody can carry plastic bag in Kenya because the fine is 10,000USD. Now next challenge - some me the waste collection system and whole recycling in video. First start with bins in every corner - for all type of materials - YOU CANNOT PULL THAT - if most of Europe cannot pull that (san Switzerland) - you think DIRTY GHANA can do it. Just30: |
Try find a picture of plastic bag in kenya post 2015. We had most successfully ban and enforcement of plastic bag. Yes Dandora dumpsite will generate power. Now tells us about Ghana - 1) When are you cleaning your dirty cities 2) When are you banning plastic bags and 3) generating power from it. Let's not talk about toxic e-waste for now. https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/news/counties/building-of-energy-plant-dandora-waste-to-start-3249122 The plan to set up an energy plant to recycle waste at Dandora dumpsite is set to kick off this month, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has said. NMS Director General Mohammed Badi said the tendering process for the power plant, which is being implemented by NMS together with KenGen, will commence this month. Just30: |
Yes unless the quarrystones are very near. leQubit: |
Kenya banned plastic bags in 2015. We have largely clean up the filth. All rubbish in Nairobi end up in Dandora landfill. Soon we will generate power from it. Dandora has 3 times it capacity - but power station coming soon - it will be fine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qJo6s0FQts Just30: |
Trial of cobbestone for rural roads - The laying of cobblestone along Mua-Kaseve road in Machakos County. Cobblestone is a naturalbuilding material used for road pavement surfacing and offers a cheaper alternative to asphalt concrete surfacing.

Despite COVID- Kenya exported more to Europe than before - thanks to KQ and others. KQ repurpose dreamliners into cargo freighters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28habXIwKqw |
The videos I have seen of accra - the rubbish is just as bad as Nigeria. Kenya banned plastic bags long time ago. Look at accra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmTYCWkGEeE Just30: |
For longest time - Kenya cities didn't pay attention to paving walkways - but I am glad this now changing - Kisumu and Nairobi have taken the lead. Rwanda has taught us these "small things" are low hanging fruit. Takoradi and shitty Ghanian cities have long way - first deal with plastic bags, rubbish everywhere, etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mFw3f4tLbE |
I think is about to start...if you imagine thika road - nairobi expressway - and this one - we would be near there. Upper hill viaduct. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZXEPkoD7go |
The man from Soweto...will disagree despite posting a very humble residence - as is profile. What does a slumdog like you really know. You looked like you're addicted to drugs btw. Austine1213: |
Kibera is 5kms2. Soweto is 200kms. Kibera sit literally next to Upperhill, Kilimani and Langata. They have all that. Maybe they just luck the money. Kibera is small slum - and everyone there has electricity - and the roads are paved mostly. They are going to pave more - if they can find a path. Austine1213: |
Kenya almost as developed as South Africa - this blogger claims. I couldn't agree more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6hSPWo033Y?t=308 |
You ran to neighberhoods - which is fuzzy definition. Nairobi rich estates are huge. Karen for examples is 13,000 acres - plus. Runda is 5,000 acres plus. Nairobi upper middle and high class estates occupy roughly half of Nairobi. The middle class are mostly saddled with Low class in Nairobi Eastland. The slums are hidden in river valleys and forest edges. Nairobi is really divided into two parts. The eastland and the westland. along mostly Thika superhighway and then you branch to Mombasa road (Nairobi expressway - anything to the west of that line is upper middle and high end. Then Nairobi Metro - or Nairobi bedroom - host maybe 2-3m people. These are places like Kitengela, Kiambu, Rongai, Thika, Machakos, etc and others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6hSPWo033Y?t=308 Austine1213: |
Slum shanties I doubt. Kibera largest is barely 200K - and that is Kibera that include Ngumo and Woodley. But yes I think about max of 1M people live in Nairobi shanties - slums slums. Kibera, Mathare, Mukuru, Korogocho, Kawangware. Most of Nairobean lives in "Slumscrappers" like Pipeline, Donholm, karibiongi, Kasarani Slums by world standards. Very POSH by West Africa standards. Wuoche: |
Soweto is slum. It depend on the definition of slum. Most of Nairobi eastland are definitely better than Soweto and yet it slum. Eastland videos are available. It host 60% of Nairobi. They are high density slumscrapper by developed world standards. They are better than anything in West Africa. Eastland videos are all over...and the people living - stats are available. These is where most Nairobeans live - Eastland 1) Eastleigh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VieewA3vo4&t=257s 2) Donholm- Kayole-Umoja https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sDvFOmus8o 3) Buruburu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzhMtGkrEdM&t=5s 4) Pipeline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEz8oqM0VYA&t=192s 5) Embakasi Nyayo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO4Vn9H9b1Q 6) Lucky Summer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pupMBggQms&t=86s 7) Zimmerman - Towards the end of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V20NJKN-f6c&t=903s Kariobangi and areashttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv9_27Jn56o People living in Shanties in kenya - which occupy 2% of landmass in very tiny houses CANNOT HOLD 60% of Nairobi. PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. Austine1213: |
I think Soweto and Joburg black township are comparable to Nairobi's eastland. Although I think Nairobi eastland is mostly better Soweto. Nairobi eastland because it mostly high rise host 2-3M people. Now like Nairobi - Joburg have little slums - all over. In Nairobi you'll find few slums in west of Nairobi (Kibera (largest), then small one 1 or 5 acres - Kangemi, Kawangware, deepstate and one in runda (1 acre). In the east of Nairobi - you'll find slums like Mukuru, Mathare, Korogocho and Soweto. Austine1213: |
Soweto is a slum by developed world standards. It's not a slum by African standards. Austine1213: |
Very much doubt. That is like 200km square of low lying slum. That is huge. And no whiteman stay there. For example - Nairobi - at the very bottom- illegal slums dwelling/shanties - occupy about 5% of built up area- and combined host less than 1m people in Nairobi. Next is Eastland (Soweto like) - this one host 60% of Nairobi -low middle and some middle class estates- It's better than Soweto - they are high rises - and not sprawling slumpolis like Soweto. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sDvFOmus8o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzhMtGkrEdM&t=5s Then west of Nairobi are middle and upper class - that occupy more than half of Nairobi landmass...basically running from the north (Garden estate) to the south (karen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3NIgWNh1Vs&t=366s Austine1213: |
is that the slum your stay in. That is one huge slumpolis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UmfbDsXkLU Austine1213: |
Their best bet is to intermarry like Swahili/Arabs - but Malemas will rise and they will be blamed for South Africa woes -and eventually kicked out. mtisTheQubit: |
