Most folks in Africa can't differentiate between urban and rural stuff! I saw many folks in some parts in Africa being regarded as urbanites but lacks basic stuff like electricity, portable water and paved roads.While at the same time those who are in rural has all electricity they need,clean water and roads.

Some people think urban is all about having more people stacked in one place

Yes,Mauritius and syschelles are a fraction of the whole eastern African region,but again,if we count the number of poor folks in west Africa vs east Africa, west will have more poor folks. If we check simple things like planned and better cities,east will have more numbers of those cities.
What I noticed here is,more guys forgets about Mauritius and syschelles when talking about east africa,that's why u will hear a blanket statements.. " east Africa is the anus..".

I’m going to have to disagree with you having lived in both Nigeria and South Africa and visited Lagos, Abuja, Cape town, durban and johannesburg I will have to say that those cities are better than anything nigeria has to offer. The slums are smaller, the roads are better, the water supply is constant same for the power supply, the buildings are maintained, bigger and better malls, we might get there in about 7-10 years but for now we don’t compare to South African cities

Lagos is far more developed than any city in South Africa save Johannesburg. Fact.

That is why, for the first 4 pages, Kenya is not listed.

Check smallholder tea production in kenya in 1963.

And compare with NOW. It's staggering!

And with that we have some of the most developed rural places.

I know for most of these bozos they cannot imagine a rural place so developed.

Fyi, many people have tried to replicate the KTDA biz model from small holder support to farmer owned factory owned processing and final marketing.
Saffas, Rwandese, Ugs even Naijjans have been here understudying KTDA operations but have FAILED! Even when managers are sent as expats like one sent to Rwanda told me. Its just impossible to develop the right synergy among all the players.
