theenchanter:Wake us up when you're at kilometre 10...Lagos-Ibandan has under construction for what 40yrs- there are now towns named after the contractor and lots of bastards sired. |
theenchanter:Calabar highway only exist in Nigeria dreams.Roads worth 100m dollars are international contracts. They cannot be dreamed on by crazy folks at Cross Rivers State who we have dealt with before. The Kenya roads of such magnitude are internationally negotiated contracts involving WB,AFDB,China Exim and EUs.You don't wake up in middle of cross River state jungle like a baboon and dream of 8 lane 270km road costing 0.5b dollars. Algerian told you a road like that long cost 10B dollars plus for 1000kms.Unless it made of fufu and sorghum beer.Roads construction involves a lot of heavy equipment that Nigeria fake car manufacturers cannot make and lots of bitumen you don't produce.A kilometres in the most basic of roads should cost o.5-1m dollars per km...single lane..8 eight lanes will cost you 8m per km...270km should set you at 3B. US betchel..world largest road construction company want to spend 3b to build nbo-msa highway..distance of 500kms - 4lanes for 3b dollars. |

You mean purchasing power parity? - of course when you don't pay taxes and have subsidies - naira can take you some way - but when you're importing many things - then PP is useless. theenchanter: |
Our currency is one of Africa strongest. Thanks. You need about 4 nairas to get 1Kshs. We are talking roads like this - not your toll gate - but a 12 lane road for 40kms https://www.afdb.org/fileadmin/_processed_/e/b/csm_Thika-road_f82ff43835.jpg theenchanter: |
I had resisted watching. I am glad I did. It very hilarious. The laggards and witchcraft.gallivant: |
Kenya pioneered mobile based buying of gov bonds continues to grow. 0.5M kenyans subscribe. M-Akiba allows every kenyan with some mobile money in his wallet to buy treasury bonds and enjoy interest as high as 10% - rather the 5% from banking. https://ntv.nation.co.ke/news/2720124-5147998-xn8jxrz/index.html |
Is there any sport they excel in? Maybe eating competition? gallivant: |

Got banned - but you get the message - check production figures for kenya and mexico - and US & worldwide consumption. I think avacodos is the future - as guacamole as common as cheese in developed world. kikuyu1: |
Mobius last I checked were using KVM - in Thika town - for their manufacture. They have original designers - have hired top guys from top European and US car manufacturers - and are actually manufacturing a car. Re-badging Chinese clones of cars is not something we need to discuss here. theenchanter: |
We are back to splitting manufacturers by race. IVM doesn't manufacture vechicles - they will not get Certificate of Origin in any country outside Nigeria or Ghana - they are re-badging Chinese cars. Mobius are making sturdy cars for Africa - not importing junks from China. obaaderemi: |
You're confusing - extension of SGR rail - new loan that Kenya wanted - and existing loan that Ethiopia asked for renegotiation for loan terms - for a loan already disbursed. Kenya has not had any problem repaying existing chinese loans and has NOT ASKED for any debt renegotiation. The negotiation with China is on completion of Phase 2B and 2C - railway from Naivasha to Kisumu city and finally to Malaba(border with Uganda). Kenya wants China to give 50% grant on that - because beyond Nairobi - Kenya do not really need the rail - China want kenya to pay for it - and also put down security - plus for Uganda to sign. This would be like you finally get to Lagos-Kano - and now you want to do KANO to Niger border..that would mainly benefit Niger(not Nigeria). Obviously Nigeria won't be getting to KANO anytime soon. obaaderemi: |
Precisely - it's huge jungle. If you ask them for car designs - you bet they won't have it - neither will they have any car designer in their payroll - they just have guys who bring in complete knockdowns from China - and guys to assemble it in Nigeria. kikuyu1: |
Since 2006 - you're still building 1300kms - what Kind of Giant. Kindly start paying and collecting taxes - otherwise with 25B federal budget - you gov cannot do much - and contractors cannot do much too. theenchanter: |
or Abuja - to Airport one - that cost nearly 1B dollars and transport 400 passengers daily!! You see Lagos - Ibandan or Lagos metro would be top priority - but because big cats are in Abuja - they will prioritize anything in Abuja and leave Lagos to rot away. Lagos - Ibandan - distance of 150km - SGR still under construction since 2006 - and expressway - since I hear 1970s ![]() kikuyu1: |
Now that is car manufacturing - re-badging Chinese cars - like Nigerians and Ghanians are doing is crazy and won't be allowed in many countries - and would be treated as importation. Jonraid: |
How has China ripped kenya off? Kenya main debt to Chinese is SGR (600Kms completed and operational rail done in record 3yrs) - it's 50% concessional loan (nearly zero interest) - and 50% commercial loan - and our SGR is already achieving 5yr projected target on it's 2nd year of projection. SGR did not give Mombasa port as security. What Kenya Ports was made to sign is reserve 40% of cargo to SGR or pay for it. The rest of chinese loans are mostly concessional and competitive with Brettonwood loans (Imf & WB). I mean you can talk about Ethiopia struggling with SGR loan - because they already asked for 30yr extension - Kenya has no problem - and has historically never had debt crisis - we know what prudent management of funds is - something Nigeria or Tanzania have no idea what it's mean. obaaderemi: |
theenchanter:Rebadging Chinese made substandard bootlegged cars is not car manufacturing.Ask South Africa or Morroco or Algeria what car manufacturing looks like if you're too dumb not to Google. |
obaaderemi:We have gone through this...Kenya agricultural figures are verifiable because we export and have solid figures.GDp sector % rose from 24% to nearly 30% after price adjustment was done by our Stats body. |
TayserMahri:To be accurate it he had 47 or about.I know mzeein our village who had 36...he kept marrying every year as he aged. |
TayserMahri:Expecting our poorly feed and educated mumus and wabongo to understand such concept is a stretch.Yes the real value of infrastructure is to be an enabler...nobody computes how much profit a road makes...but when it comes to rail that last 100yrs you see all sort of pseudo economic bring their tunnel visions to dismiss it |
Africa top 5 busiest airports are - Nigeria's Lagos Murtala Airport nowhere to be seen. 1) Johannesburg International Airport, South Africa, 2) Cairo International Airport, Egypt, 3) Bole International Airport, Ethiopia, 4) Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Kenya 5) Cape Town International Airport, South Africa. https://www.kenyans.co.ke/files/styles/article_style/public/images/news/aerial_view_of_the_jomo_kenyatta_international_airport.jpg?itok=4quUHmi5 |
