Should we dedicate a day to teach you about basic arithmetic's? Percentages?
obaaderemi:
Exactly what I said earlier on. His country had inflation of 5%
at the beginning of the year, now it's almost 10%. He would still be here arguing about other countries when his country begins to see double digit inflation.

Yours is an emergency - a crisis - a mess - and you better get IMF.
Not every country is going through a crisis - China inflation is 2%.
Kenya has generally breezed through all sort of global economic crisis
The trick is diversifying the economy and building resilience.
We don't depend on one thing...and of course we watch our macro-economics better.
This year was terrible as we faced Ukraine, drought and election.
Now we are about done with drought & election went well - so that already given us a lift.
Inflation is coming down...
I expect from 9% - it will come down this month to 7 % - which is our immediate target.
And next year it will be back to sweat spot of 5%.
We generally need to improve a few things - reduce debt, free up economy for more competition (too many SOES) and etc.

For Ghana - boy - 140% inflation.

vaxx:
stop your jamboree, no country is under inflation at the moment. It is a global crisis. what is kenya current anti inflation measure , we should be talking about it. if you are not doing well now to curb it , your country will slide into into full blown economic recession next year just like how uk is almost heading into it . Ghana has already started disinflation process , firstly, is seeking imf engagement, providing a bailout loan etc .

14.60 Ghanaian Cedi for a dollar.
Focus there.
And try see if you can run away from Ghana to Nigeria; they are at least few months from such a crisis.

Just40:
yet rice is cheaper here than in Kenya
Electricity is cheaper, gas is cheaper, cooking oil is cheaper, cement is cheaper than in Kenya...

Those are the realities on the ground .. so again I ask, How are you guys surviving in Kenya?

No wonder poverty has risen to 44 million people in kenya

Kenya inflation...

This random from Today - it's almost back to 5% inflation.

UNGA 130 - from high of 250.
Cooking oil 5ltrs 1200
Gas 12kg 2100 from 2900

Maize flour need to come down to 100 - everything else looks good.

Then we wait for petrol to slowly come down.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 5:04pm On Nov 14, 2022
Make that 140% for Ghana now.

Kenya we had inflation from 5 to 9 % - we have never bridged that.

This was April

Kenya's inflation hit 7-month high of 6.47% in April

Commodities whose prices have risen most year on year include:

Cooking oil up 41%
Cooking gas up 38%
Wheat flour up 24%
Soap up 23%
Potatoes up 22%
Maize flour up 14%
Beef up 14%

Now everything there has come down including Maize floor.
The rest are back to pre-march/april.

This random tweet.

Cooking gas 6Kg drops for 1450 ksh to 1000 Ksh
13Kg drops from 3000 Ksh to 2650 Ksh
UNGA 2Kg drops from 213 Ksh to 156 Ksh.

By December we should be back to usual 5% inflation.

Ghana would be tottering on a collapse.

gallivant:
Kenya's inflation in not hovering around 40%, is it madman?

Inflation is not complicated.
It price of goods.
Already everyone in kenya is saying things are cheaper.
Apart from petrol and maize - everything else has come down.
obaaderemi:
Your eyes will clear by December when your inflation hit double digits. I'll remind you then.

Dangote has 60 percent market share. That mean no competition if you were not a Zoogerian. Past 50 percent you dominate that market.
Shaytun:
Lmao, Dangote doesn’t have a competitor you say?

BUA cement is bigger than any cement company in east Africa.

Lafarge Nigeria is bigger than every company in Kenya bar safaricom.

You have on-off Tema-Accra line that is operational with 4 used DMU. The rest of the railway is rusted to the ground and you're trying to rehabilitate - it's far from going into operation.

Show me a video of you traveling in railway outside Tema-Accra?

You are worse than Nigeria.

Kenya even at it worse - Mombasa to Kampala railway has run nonstop since 1900 - as MGR. Passenger services was stop for few years but cargo works till now.

Nairobi Metro/commuter line has run nonstop since 1900.

All the branches are now all running - Kisumu, Nanyuki, etc

SGR is greenfield in kenya - old railway is working.

Just40:
Desperate as usual... Now you're disputing videos too?
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:42pm On Nov 14, 2022
The crush/inflation/ name it started in March.
It already peaked.
That is called a lagging indicator.
Leading indicator - everything is coming down
And Ruto has not done anything - he is not finished forming his gov.
That mean everything coming back to normal based on positive sentiments alone.
People are confident on how he is going to steer the economy.
Zambia got such a lift off because their new president knows his stuff.

Nigeria and Ghana your inflation/liquidity name is accelerating and getting worse because nobody trust the sleepy Buhari and the Ghana short comedian.

obaaderemi:
Clearly you need the advice more.
You said inflation came down when it is actually going up. You said investors trust Ruto when they're actually running away. That's why Safaricom crashed in valuation.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:39pm On Nov 14, 2022
There is no functional train service in your mini zoo apart from on/off Tema & Accra line.
In era of internet - we should not argue over such basic facts.

PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:37pm On Nov 14, 2022
Leading or lagging indicators.
You need to invest in yourself.
Get some education - Ruto got himself a phd when he was free.
obaaderemi:
Your inflation has actually gone up from around 6% to around 9.6% on the back of the subsidy removal. Investors are running away from Kenya. Your stock exchange is a case in point.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:31pm On Nov 14, 2022
Ruto impact is already seen and felt
The air of optimism, the confidence from investors and debts.
Inflation has come down despite cutting subsidies, liquidity has eased, and economic is looking good - just based on positive sentiments.
People have seen his appointment and his business mien - and they like it
He is only comparable to new Zambia president in terms of initial impact.
obaaderemi:
We shall see.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:26pm On Nov 14, 2022
I once fact-checked; there is only a rickety functional line from Tema to Accra - something like 49kms - that generally operate based on the moods of their train driver -otherwise there is no train service working in Ghana. Their railways system went into disuse and they are trying to rehabiliate. They gave chinese their aluminum so they can repair their broken railway system.

This only train service they got - and it's a mess.

Management of Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL) will from today, Monday, July 18, 2022, resume the Tema-Accra passenger train service, which was suspended temporarily for rehabilitation works.

“After successfully addressing some technical challenges, GRCL conducted series of test runs and a final joint inspection was also carried out on July 7, 2022, by GRCL and Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) to ascertain the suitability of the line for passenger service,” a statement from GRCL noted.

The Ghana Railway Company Limited in the statement said GRDA, which is the industry regulator, has granted it the approval to commence the shuttle service.

We are 2nd to Rwanda in quality and leading worldwide in export volume - we just need to improve our value chain.
Just40:
Good you know, so what's stopping Kenya from achieving similar quality?
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:15pm On Nov 14, 2022
Captive power is cheaper - because Dangote can import and burn coal.
Yes there will be capex but it will eventually pay out.

Dangote is expensive because there is no real competition.

His gameplan is well know - reduce the price of cement to bare minimum - crush competition - gain market share - then jack up the price.

He can only do that in your Zoo - everywhere else he has struggled - because the playing field is more even.

Nigeria you need to be connected to buy basic stuff like dollars.

GeneralDae:
You are the one who says Dangote cement and other locally manufactured cement are expensive at 4000 naira. Why do you think they are 4000 naira? Part of the reason is because majority of these firms produce their own power.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:09pm On Nov 14, 2022
Kenya monthly is around 1.1 billion units.
In a year that is about 13 billion.
You see it half Nigeria - and I expect Nigeria to be about half of Kenya in almost evrything minus oil/gas production.

https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/markets/market-news/electricity-use-jumps-to-four-year-high-3957212

Actually this year we could hit 20B.

Already it was 10B in since months.

Latest data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) shows a seven percent rise in power use from 9.1 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) to 9.79 billion) in the period ended June as the economy made a steady recovery in the first half of the year.

Shaytun:
Don’t mind that idi*ot.

Nigeria power consumption is around 25billion kWh.

While that of Kenya is a measly 7billion kWh.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 4:07pm On Nov 14, 2022
And you think in kenya industries dont have captive power?

The number of companies that have set up their own power plants as they seek to reduce electricity bills increased last year, which could mean more challenges for Kenya Power and electricity producers.

The Kenya Economic Survey 2022 reported a 61 per cent growth in the power production capacity by small plants set up by various companies for their own use.

The surge was due to plants by sugar millers that are using sugarcane waste to generate power. The privately-run plants had a combined capacity to produce 216 megawatts (MW) as at December 2021, up from 133.9MW in 2020

68816419:
Madman, the majority of Nigeria's major industries produce their own electricity and hardly rely on the national grid; among them are Dangote, which produces over 100MW of electricity across all of its factories, Bua, which produces over 30MW, Indorama, which produces over 80MW, and numerous other companies.

You believe in princes and Kings who are prepared and nurtured in office.
We belief in ability.
And Ruto has proven track record since he was Mp, Minister, DP and now President.
He is not someone who emerged from a cave...he has been prepared and nurtured into politics since he was early 20s.
obaaderemi:
Ruto will perform worse than Uhuru. Uhuru's worldview is far deeper than Ruto's. Ruto is clannish and egocentric. And what's worse he is ready to asslick the west more than Uhuru. Watch him worsen your debt problems.
Uhuru was prepared and nurtured for office.

We'll all be here. grin

You peak power is 3000MW but you out-manufacture South Africa 40,000MW - some of the nonsense you Nigerian believe. You import almost everything save for agro-processing or a semblance of it.

68816419:
I concur; a city with over 200 million inhabitants should be producing more than 4000MW of electricity instead of the existing 7000MW( 3* of Kenya production ). The good news is that Nigeria's electricity has improved, and many states now have access to reliable and constant power. and the system is currently receiving about 4800MW of additions.
Additionally, China is developing nuclear power plants right now. A twin-reactor nuclear power station with a capacity of roughly 2,400 MW is planned for Nigeria. The project, which was initially launched with the building of two nuclear reactors supplied by Atomstroyexport and the plant's location in Geregu, Kogi State, is currently undergoing extensive construction.

small Ghana pharmaceutical industry is bigger than big kenya owns . What is the reason behind it? Ghana generally has a bigger industry base than any country in west and east africa bar Nigeria and maybe ethiopia .

There are some major independent WATCH organization who are more than police into anything the government does in Ghana. So government understand the needs to lie less if not all . Example are like ""occupy Ghana and IMAN". Even our news outlets are of international standard . There is a reason , some highly trained Ghanaian journalist had to go educate kenya journalist on how to report on election relected news of recent .

I will recommend you to go watch good evening Ghana on facebook and see level of scrutiny. We hardly lie here even if we must , it must be less than normally acceptable lies.
There is no industrial sector Ghana is at kenya level safe for aluminium smelting. If you're interested in an intellectual debate bring in the data

Nope.

This is for the second quarter of 2022.

Disaggregated by sectors, capital importation into banking had the highest inflow of $646.36 million, accounting for 42.10 percent of the total capital import. Capital imported into the production sector was next at $233.99 million (15.24 percent), and the financing sector followed with $197.31 million (12.85 percent).
