Kenya. Industrial manufacturing is relatively strong
in Kenya compared to countries at similar levels of
economic development. Growing by an average
of 4 percent per year over the past decade, it
now accounts for nearly 20 percent of economic
activity and provides 12.5 percent of all formal jobs
in the economy, about 280,000 jobs. The most
striking growth in production rates has occurred in
dairy, chemicals, and fabricated metals production,
all of which expanded by more than 50 percent
between 2010 and 2013.77 Other notable sectors
include textiles, pharmaceuticals, furniture, leather
goods, and motor vehicles, for which Kenya is
the prime supplier to the rapidly urbanizing East
African market.78
Investors in Kenyan manufacturing have already
benefited from SEZs, where downtime caused
by electricity and other power interruptions are
significantly less frequent than in other areas of
the country. Almost 20 percent of all manufacturing jobs are located in Export Processing Zones

Why is your manufacturing output just 7 Billion dollars?
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 8:25am On Nov 14, 2022
Lame excuse.
Nigeria is off chart compared to even most informal economy like Burundi or Niger or CAR or SOMALI.
That is because GDP is overcooked/overstimated.
It completely an outlier....
There is nothing more formal than 65B dollars' worth of manufacturing.
That should guarantee lots of taxes - maybe 15-20B dollars.

India state budgets is 625B dollars.
India federal budget is 400B dollars.
Total budget 1 trillion dollars
GDP is about 3.5 trillion dollars

GeneralDae:
Ditto, and India's budget has only been increasing because they have began to formalize. When they were very informal in those days, they still had big economy and manufacturing but way lower revenue streams for the Government.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 8:18am On Nov 14, 2022
Did you include all the India states budget?
India at 3.5 trillion GDP
I expect India total budget to be somewhere close a trillion all states included.
For example, the biggest state budget Uttar Pradesh - is somewhere 70B dollars. That is already twice bigger than poor Nigeria.
68816419:
@bolded:
India, one of the most populous and productive nations in the world, has a budget of US$400 billion, yet Canada, which has a lesser population with smaller economy has a budget of US$430.13 billion, which is more than India. How would you elucidate that?

I have worked in almost all those organization.
The data come from Nigeria gov.
Nobody has the time or the mandate to dispute such data.
Whatever Nigeria says - UN/IMF/WB - will take it - otherwise it would cause diplomatic row.
Of course if you're investor or lender you have to be extremely careful with such data.
Nobody believe anything from a Nigeria - you or your gov.
Your have zero credibility.
It's just for the laughs.

That is why your budget is kenya size and you can only borrow kenya size -

South Africa has borrowed 300B dollars...because everyone know their economy is REAL.

We exported aircraft to spain : ) smiley

We exported ships to Namibnia smiley

Go on - we have 65B dollar manufacturing smiley

We beat Russia, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Indonesia in Agricluture.

GO ON.

We are the giant of Africa.

We are the Yahoo boys with billions of money Sani Abacha window has and we need you banking details to transfer.

What you do is CROSS_REFERENCE/CROSS_ CHECK.

You got to Spain or Namibia and ask if they imported anything from Nigeria - leave alone Aircraft parts & ships - and they will say hell NO

68816419:
Who the Bleep are you to dispute these numbers when they can all be found in various sources like the Worldbank, UN, AU, IMF, NBS, and International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC)?.
Accept that no one is interested in Kenya when it comes to manufacturing, agriculture, and entertainment in Africa and move on.

We can go sector by sector.

Cement - Kenya produces about 10M - Nigeria produces about 21-26M metric tonnes. Last I checked it was 21M - but I have seen recently something like 26M. I would go with 24m considering how dodgy data from Nigeria normally is. I would go by what Dangote, BUA and laftrage sells.

That is twice.

Give me your fertilizer production.

Give and Take - as I retire to bed - your manufacturing is 2 or 2.5 times Kenya. And this is true for almost everything - BANKIN, TELCOM. ALL SECTORS. Your real economy is 2 or 2.5 times bigger than Kenya. It about 200-250B dollars

Manufacturing that would roughly be about 20B dollars.

About half or less than half of South Africa...who are at 40-50B. I would never doubt South Africa figures - use such as gold standard to cross-check your nonsense from your gov.

THAT IS PLAUSIBLE. Anything that say you manufactur aircraft and ships to export to SPAIN - use common sense. DONT even THINK.

DONT BELIEVE FAKE STATS BY YOUR FAKE GOV.

68816419:
I vow to shut down my Nairaland account if you can convince us that the manufacturing sector in Nigeria isn't at least eight times greater than that in Kenya . grin grin grin grin grin

You dont have any manufacturing worth talking about.
First fix your data - so you know how badly you're doing.
You wont be importing almost everything if you had a manufacturing as 1/4 good as Egypt, South Africa and Kenya.

GRAND SELF DELUSION WILL NOT HELP YOU.

Take a picture of Nigeria and see it for the slum it is.

68816419:
Imagine how much further the sector may grow if Tinubu becomes president. He is known for promoting private investors, which is why companies like Dangote, BUA, and Lekki free trade zones exist.

Bonobo you can claim anything. You claim to export aircraft, ships, voodoo, witchraft.
South Africa manufacturing is 40-50B dollars
And they manufacture and export lots of stuff.
Your whole GDP is fake.
We have gone through the Agri sector - where you claim to beat Brazil, Indonesia, and are just behind India, China and USA.

GDP is just a figure you guess - you can claim to be the giant.

But reality you're very poor.

Namibia would never import a ship or boat from Nigeria.

650M for Namibia is lot of money - the country would almost sink with Nigeria boat smiley

Giant stories.
You continue to delude yourself.
You're only known for exporting criminals.
And soiling black man reputation

Kenya we have earned reputation for hardwork and very little criminality.
UAE/Dubai exempted kenya from visa bans.
South Africa just allowed kenya to go visa free.

All of them - say - Kenyans are not criminals - they dont overstay their visa - they dont engage in crime or prostitution or sell drugs.

68816419:
You may never stop being bothered and angry with Nigeria's continued technological advancement, which has led to the country's exportation of military hardware to various nations worldwide. Nigeria continues to be the only black country in the world with intellectual prowess to compete with the Chinese and the Indians; it is also the world leader in tech and manufacturing, both of which are wholly owned by black Nigerians.

Once all the grass, trees and shrubs grow - it will look all green, all natural and almost like it grew from the ground.

Samorobo has learnt to shut up because he has seen after few years - it's all green, all grass, and all naturally. Not a zebra monstrosity ugly concrete jungle.

Namibia of course would laugh when you claim to export whopping 650m dollars of boats and ships to them.

YAHOO boys

The top five countries to which Namibia imported goods 2020 along with the share in percentage are

Namibia imports from South Africa worth US$ 2,468 million, with a partner share of 36.17 percent.
Namibia imports from Zambia worth US$ 1,302 million, with a partner share of 19.09 percent.
Namibia imports from Unspecified worth US$ 444 million, with a partner share of 6.51 percent.
Namibia imports from Congo, Dem. Rep. worth US$ 374 million, with a partner share of 5.49 percent.
Namibia imports from China worth US$ 307 million, with a partner share of 4.50 percent.

The only trade btw Nigeria and Namibia of significant is the SALT you import from them.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp20182: 10:47pm On Nov 13, 2022
First cross-check and cross-reference with Namibia if they are okay with 650M dollars worth of Nigeria built boats and ships.
Crazy.
You import salt from Namibia - and they import boats and ships?
Worth 600M.
That is a lot of boats and shops for poor Namibia -
And they have South Africa just across the border.
I would love to see UK/Spain/China man sailing a Nigeria made boat and Ships.
Unless they have suicide cruises out there.
Want to die in high seas? We got Nigeria made vessel.

USE FIVE COMMON SENSE to verify some of the crap data online.

Uhuru slept after being visited by Sleepy Buhari.
Ruto will wake up the stock market.
The last 10yrs the stock market has not seen much action.
Gov will float 6-10 companies every year.
Uhuru never went to NSE - and generally was drunk with cheap chinese/eurobond.

Ruto has brought back most of Kibaki folks who developed the equity market.

Ruto has already visited NSE - and has promised lots of changes/support of the capital market.
Uhuru in 10yrs never visited stock exchange - was happy to ring the bell in New york and London - never Nairobi

You can call Ruto names all day but he is next Meles Zenawi - arguably the most brilliant African president now - and already the western nations are in love with him - markets love him - investors love him - things are looking really great - the positive vibe has dealt with inflation - Kshs will strengthen - liquidity has open up - we are DOING GREAT

Ruto at Nairobi Stock Exchange few weeks ago.

Interesting! I thought as much. But why didn't R I P talk about that here? grin He kept talking about how Safaricom is worth $18bn and how his government could solve its debt problems by selling its 30% shareholding in Safaricom.

And with a thief like Ruto in government, there's going to be serious problems.

Why would it decrease in cedis.
Local debt remain in Ceids - stable
External debt - has since the year began almost trippled.

And your gdb to debt will go even as high as 200 percent.
