Now many replies later - I think you've finally understood. If Nandis had guns - definitely the British would not have won. Let me take you back to how Nandi savages were able to fight for 15yrs using sticks. Arrows versus Machine Guns for 15yrs. They used guerrilla tactics, and were incredibly disciplined. When they had advantage, they would swing decisively and kill the British. When the British had advantage, they had the discipline to avoid costly combat. They took the war to middle of the night, they took British through decoys that ended in deep gorges where British forces would be lined up in single file - and the arrows would rain on them - killing many of them. They took the British to swamps & forest - where movement would be restricted - and killed them. War is more than weapon.

The element that I personal use to evaluate an army or group is their personnel - are they well trained, well disciplined, well motivated - the weapons are extras - because it very unlikely you'll use all that firepower with civilians on the way. Can you really use Nuke? Of course not - it's just deterrent - a scaregrow.

This how Nandi fought for 15yrs against mighty British using basic weapons. This what Afgan did to USSR and NATO. This is what Tigrayans did to Italians and is now doing to Ethiopian army. This is what Somalis did to US army - the best Zeal team - were butchered and dragged through the streets of Mogadishu - with black hawk helicopters decimated - using light weapons.

The British were so embarrased that Nandis of 40,000 people then with about 4,000 warriors - had been unbeaten for 15yrs. The British had automatic rifles, machine guns, name it. The nandis mostly armed with spears and arrows beat them...not once...but for 15yrs.

The British at one time assemble all it's army units in Uganda, Kenya, Juba (somaliland) and Sudanase mercenaries. They failed.

British never really defeated the Nandis in battle -but without leadership of Samoei and with heavy losses - the Nandi eventually agreed to peace deal.

I am one few kalenjin who are brave enough to out fellow kalenjin. I learnt this from my father - only man who supported kibaki. Kalenjin are most secretive people you will find.
