I just want to rant...imagine my University cannot check WES verification email sent to them because they haven't had light in the whole school for 1 week now...

This is enough reason to want to relocate...It will end in praise eventually
My dear, if I were in your shoes, I'd carry my generator with fuel to the school and get the problem solved once and for all. Don't give devil any chances abeg!

LANDING GIST

Landed at Pearson airport according to schedule. The line for immigration was so long and after about one and a half hours, I was finally welcomed to Canada and then did my SIN. My wife picked me up at the airport and not long after, I had eaten both food and something else grin.
What's the something else, biko? Hope it's not what I'm thinking cool

Today's IELTS Task 4

Question - The CIC's latest draw saw candidates with crs points of 463 and above invited to apply for Canadian PR. Write a letter to your friend who have been delaying acceptance of the Ontario NOI he received last month. In your letter,
- ask him why he chose to throw away such golden opportunity
- remind him of his imminent birthday in one month time
- tell him to say 'ntoor' to the village people whispering to his ears
- ask him to recite 'devil you're a liar' 21 times
There's no need for paparazzi, begin your essay with Dear Canadian in diaspora

cool tongue

IELTS Writing Task 3
Instructions - Write at least 100 words. You do not need too much paparazzy, just start with Dear Canadian-Nigerians.

Introducshin - It is often considered by many that 'every pot will find its lid'.

BP1 - So yesterday as I was about to leave my (i-count-ants) job, I saw a do-not-reply mail from CIC and upon logging in to my account, alas it was a home calling from my second state of origin - Ontario. The question is, should I accept even with a CRS of 445+? Without question!

BP2 - Shey my village people would say 'where we wanted to plant groundnut, groundnut has already sprouted'. While CAD1500 is a depletion to the trickling POF, it is worth trying for obvious reasons.

BP3 - Two BP don do una - excess of everything is bad! cool

Conclushin - To sum up, while people may vary in their opinions, CIC's late unpredictability and writer's imminent birthday are strong reasons why I will accept the NOI already. grin cheesy wink

Hello everyone,

The letter that was sent to me bears Zenith Pension as my custodian. Then the discount rate is stated as 10% p.a. (but as I stated earlier, I was credited with less than 5%). Should the interest be calculated per annum? The duration of the TBill's 182 days. Are there circumstances that can make a person's interest that low? Someone who's knowledgeable in this should please give me the necessary information.

I feel cheated. I feel like I tied my money down for nothing.
Bro/Sis, The discount rate of 10% is per annum so for 182 days would be half that rate which is 5%. TB is a low-risk security hence the meagre ROI. Just take solace in the fact that your money is kept somewhere and you have access to it anytime.

Belated IELTS breakthrough...humbler of men indeed!

See my timeline attached.

Listening - I didn't pay attention to singular/plural words in the first test. MCQ too gave me serious headache. I was in a bad mood during the second test and struggled so much with the Reading comprehension. How I even passed the Listening is a mystery to me till tomorrow. Cambridge books, preferably 9-14, are still the most realistic as far as I'm concerned.
Speaking - Jay video really helped here. I remember one of the conversations when I was asked how I feel when in a crowd - as someone who live in the North, I had to say the truth without hesitation. grin. I can't remember any other true answer I've given cool
Reading - I had access to a paid course by Udemy and it really made the difference. I was actually expecting at least 8.5 in the last test but BC had other plans.
Writing - During my first test, I started with Task 1 and took me 30 minutes to finish. Don't blame me, I always overthink and exercise caution while writing. I didn't finish Task 2 - no conclusion. IELTS examiner will never forgive this blunder and I heard it's even better if one is running out of time to leave the BP and write conclusion; provided you meet the word count. I later met @wasseynewest and the rest they say is history.

Advice: (1) Practice is key. Even though you are struggling with a component, don't take the other components for granted. Remember the 'bible' says that What shall it profit a man who has 8 in Listening, 7 in Writing, 7 in Speaking but now has 6 in Reading? grin
(2) Whatever bad emotion you are having, drop it before you enter the exam hall.

Finally, IELTS is a GAME OF SYNONYMS in case you've not heard! The easiest way to develop this skill is to start replying anyone that communicate with you with paraphrase or synonym of their words. For instance, JAMES: Where do you live currently? YOU: At the moment, I reside at.....

Now chilling in the pool with my hard-earned CRS of 449 hoping for a 'miracle on the Hudson'. cheesy
It's not over until it is all over, I admit, so I may be re-writing soon but at least I have a huge sigh of relief at the moment.
