b) Ban the use of any crown, beads or a palace.

c) Any appointment at that level should be democratic and involve notification and approval of the local crown before being eligible.

You people may just be confusing yourself. Eze is a word that does not exist in the lexcicon of Akure kingship or Yorubaland for that matter. So, i don't understand the biggie. it would have been a different case if he had referred to himself as the Deji of Ndigbo. Even the suggested name by the person you quoted means "Head of Ndigbo" and it doesn't really change anything. Whether Eze, Obi, Isi (head) or Oga kpatapata of Ndigbo, it still has some cultural connotation to it. I would like to know where exactly the Deji of Akure differs then we can take it from there.

In Yoruba tradition, the control of markets was central to a King's authority and even with modernisation, democracy, Constitutions etc, markets remain a key bastion of a King's authority. Even civilian governments try & carry the King along when it comes to market matters.
