The Android Runtime (ART) engine for running applications promises to open them faster and with less memory consumption on Android P. “ART now uses profile information to rewrite DEX files on the device, with reductions of up to 11% on a variety of popular apps,” explains Google.

The company also says it “continues to refine the Twelve, Standby App and Background Limits” to reduce battery consumption.
Media support

Android P supports the HDR VP9 Profile 2 codec, so you can watch HDR videos from sources like YouTube, Play Movies and more. It also supports the High-Efficiency Image Format (HEIF) image format, an alternative to JPEG that takes up less space – it is already supported on iOS and MacOS.

As smartphones gain dual (and even triple) cameras, Android needs to adapt. So the latest version will automatically switch between two or more cameras – perhaps to help with it ARCore augmented reality platform.

As we said, Android P will prevent inactive apps from using your camera. In fact, it goes a long way: apps in the background will not have access to your microphone or to certain sensors.

“The microphone provides empty audio, and the sensors stop reporting events,” Google explains. “The cameras used by your application are disconnected and they generate an error if the application tries to use them.” The app should then put a notification to stay active and use the sensors.

It is not difficult to imagine applications for a quantum computer. It is difficult to predict when such quantum supremacy will become reality. At first look, it looks like the tech giant Google is leading this race, after all, Bristlecone works with 72 qubits while Intel’s Tangle Lake deals with 49 qubits, for example. But the tech giant Google itself warns that we should not only consider the number of qubits.



The computation we use today is based on the bit, which assumes the value 0 or 1. Already a qubit can assume 0, 1 or a superposition of both values. Two qubits can contain four values, so, and so on (note that this is a simplified explanation). That’s why quantum computing is so promising.

But there are some serious problems here. One is that the qubits are extremely sensitive and therefore susceptible to noise or disturbance, which can cause miscalculations.

In Google experiments, the error rate for a single qubit was 0.1%, while for 2-qubit ports, it reached 0.6%. But for the company, quantum supremacy will be achieved when a computer effectively reaches 49 qubits and has an error rate of less than 0.5% on 2-qubit ports.

The tech giant Google just did not give an estimate of when it will reach that level. It would be difficult to do so. There are several other aspects to consider, such as component optimization and temperature control. For now, the concern of the tech giant Google is to show that the work is in progress.

As Bleeping Computer explains, the value was sent back in two parts. The first was transferred in September, totalling 10 thousand ETH (the US $8.7 million); the second was last Friday (23) when the hacker returned another 20,000 ETH ($17.45 million).

However, the hacker still has more than 13,400 ETH ($11.7 million). It is worth noting that, at the time, the total assault amounted to only $7.4 million. CoinDash’s website was hacked during ICO, and the portfolio address to receive investors’ money was changed.

But why the hacker returned the stolen coins? Some experts believe that the hacker can not use ether because the address of his wallet has been blacklisted. Most trading platforms identify your wallet as “FAKE_CoinDash,” and refuse to convert funds for fear of being processed.

There are also those who believe the invasion was an inside job, and the hacker only returned the funds after the SEC – the US securities commission – began tracking ICOs more closely. Others think it’s a marketing scam to get attention to CoinDash.

One way or another, the money irrevocably returned to CoinDash. The company says it is working with Israel’s anti-terrorist unit to identify the hacker.

It is not only the giant mobile chip manufacturer Qualcomm that is betting on always an active connection in Windows notebooks: as the giant chip manufacturer Intel recently announced on Thursday (22) that the modems of the XMM 8000 series will allow browsing the internet through 5G networks on computers launched from the second half of 2019.

The XMM 8000 series modems were announced in 2017. We do not have many details yet (even though the first official specification of 5G was published just two months ago), but we know that the XMM 8060 will be compatible with 2G, 3G (including CDMA), 4G and 5G, reaching “gigabit speed”.

In the case of notebooks, the Intel 5G modem can allow the same speed of a Wi-Fi network anywhere, depending on the mood of your carrier. The expectation is to have minimal individual speeds of 100 Mb/s download and 50 Mb/s upload and latency to the tower of only 4 milliseconds (the LTE determines 20 ms).

The giant chip manufacturer Intel says 5G on PCs would allow “virtual immersion without wires anywhere in the world”, “download a 250MB file in the parking lot in seconds” or “participate in a multiplayer game while you go to class on board of an autonomous car.”

The first notebooks with the 5G modem from the giant chip manufacturer Intel will be from Dell, HP, Lenovo and Microsoft; they will hit the market in the second half of 2019. Still, the giant chip manufacturer Intel itself says that fifth-generation networks should only take off in 2020.
