How strong and durable is this imported sheets. I plan to use them too, tower and 1st Aluminum is gold in port Harcourt now.

Thanks
Sako

mufutau55:
Steptiles and Metcopo are made from the same aluminium, it's just a different style or design.
I bought imported because with the recent price rise, both Tower and First Aluminium are too much for me.
They both want something like N2,300 for 0.55mm Metcoppo and Longspan is about N1,800 per sqm.
So I opted for imported version: Metcoppo N1,700, Steptiles N1,600, Longspan N,1500 from http://www.jonytechaluminium.com/
My brother went directly to their factory. I am not sure if the price has changed now sha...

If you can not get the digital caliper, look for a screw gauge from engineering guys. Screw gauge will give accurate result too.

Cheers

Current price, l dont know.

But l have read on this thread about how even Companies like Tower, First Aluminium and others have reduced the correct thickness, of their products, just like those Petrol marketers reduce the discharge rate of their Fuel Pump! angry angry

Wherever you go to buy, preferably at the Company, go with your Digital Caliper, like the one l just took the picture for you right now.
If they are cheating you, at least you will know and bargain price based on that on go for a higher thickness that falls down to your desired thickness. undecided

sunlitlogistics:
Strategic reasoning begets solutions to problems that may be encountered during construction.
Let's get to discussing them.
DEALS :
1) Building plan :
I love deals. I could wait for as long for a deal. Let's start with architectural designs especially the
3d. The current price in the market for 3d drawings is
a) Standard bungalow - from #130,000
b) Duplex - from #200,000
c) One storey - from #150,000
d) Two Storey - from #200,000
e) Commercial building- from #250,000
Well, in my course of study I got to know a company that does 2d and 3d building prototypes designed with the most powerful software in design and simulation. I just wait for them on their promo price. It goes for #50,000. At least, I will save at least #100,000 on building plan drawing which has all the relevant structural, engineering, electrical and plumbing drawings, all signed and stamped.

2) Cement:
I also love the deals I get here. I have in the past known that no matter how expensive things become, there are some dealers that will certainly give you a freebie, especially for bulk purchasing . So here, assuming a bag of cement costs N1,500. A trailer load of 600 bags will amount to N900,000. If you buy 600 bags of cement, you will need to pay for transportation to your site at the rate of #50 or more for a bag. So transportation will amount to #30,000. I haven't also factored in offloading costs. The company will not charge for transportation and offloading to site. So you save at least #30,000.
3) Rods:
Since we know that no private building can take up the quantity required as bulk purchase here, our promise on this is minimal. So we find a supply to your site anywhere at the same retail price in your vicinity and no added transport cost.

4) Blocks:
The current prices of 6" and 9" blocks is N120 / N140. The problem remains that the quality of those roadside blocks is nothing to write home about. I know a deal that gives me N110/N120 and when I throw down the blocks, they don't break or crack. I am sure of what they produce. For a house that requires 4,000 blocks, one saves N80,000.
5) Wood/ Boards :
This is the beautiful part. We go spending money buying planks for lintel and decking. Usually these planks don't come cheap and sometimes because we don't know the different types of wood. We are oftentimes tricked into buying wood that once exposed for a few days, loses form. It's either bent or cracked. And one loses money repurchasing wood. For a moderate duplex, one can buy wood of about N600,000 - N700,000. But our deal gets us all the boards for rent within a limited time for N150,000. You'd bet how much you'd save.

I will certainly continue with the series soon. Have a beautiful day

You are looking at

Iron rods in the region of 650-700k alone.
Wood 300-350k
Granite 350k
Cement 500k
Sharp sand 150k
Piping (M&E) 400k
Water 40k
Mixer 20k

Workmanship 550k at least

Totaling about 3M naira+

That is the least you can get for a decking of 5 bedroom duplex. A 5 bedroom duplex in size is between 250 sq. mt - 400 sq. mt.

Good luck with your finding.
3m to deck a 5 Bedroom is a No No.
Firstly, 1 room will be on the ground floor, so you are decking a 4 bedroom with may small sitting room and study area. So the dimension can be like 18m by 14m.
250 bag of cemen will do this at N1500/bag(with tranport to site and offloading)= 375,000
iron 12mm and 16mm will cost you aprox.=400,000
Wood=300,000
Granite= 350,000
Piping eletrical=60,000(No water piping in the decking)
Sharp sand= 125,000.
Workmanship you negiotiate=huh??

Above is just an insight. I did my decking in port Harcourt in October for a 4BR deplex, 3rooms up with Study room and small palour with abt 1.8m. And this is due to the fact that granite in PHC is very expensive. All thank to my Ogas here from Hajji, Spyder, brabus(evenly though im confuse abt him i still hail his contribution), Segcymoor and to all my ogas here on Properties section.

Nairaland GeneralMy Experience In Conducting 2015 Polls — Jega by sako28(op): 4:39am On Oct 30, 2015
For the first time after conducting the 2015 elections adjudged to be one of the country’s best, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commissioner, Professor Attahiru Jega, yesterday, spoke about what the commission went through.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega

Jega, who is now teaching Political Science at Bayero University, Kano, spoke at the first University of Abuja Public Lecture Series with the theme Electoral Reforms in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects.

The former INEC boss said the commission had to contend with unnecessary challenges created by some desperate politicians, who wanted to win election at all cost.

According to Jega, many of the politicians, who he described as ‘militicians’ have a mindset of capturing power through any means, thereby trying to subvert the will of the people.

The former INEC boss said that the commission was able to thwart the antics of the desperate politicians by ensuring effective compliance with the laws and remaining transparent and non-partisan throughout the process.

Jega said: “From my experience, I quite often say that Nigeria has a special breed of politicians (Militicians). They generally tend to believe that political power through elections has to be ‘captured,’ and this has to be done by hook or by crook; and by any means necessary. To them, winning election is, literally, a do-or-die affair.

Minefield

“INEC faced perhaps its greatest challenge in containing the predisposition and reckless mindset of Nigerian politicians. Any wonder then that our political arena increasingly resembled a bloody battlefield, with maiming, killing, burning, and unimaginable destruction of lives and property.

“Navigating the minefield of do-or-die politicians as an impartial electoral umpire required nerves of steel, and we had to quickly muster the requisite thick skin, as well as appropriate containment strategies.

“A series of badly conducted elections could create perpetual political instability and easily reverse the gains of democratization. If adequate care is not taken, badly conducted elections can totally undermine democratization and replace it with authoritarian rule, of the civilian or military varieties.

Slams 2007 elections

“At best, they can install inept and corrupt leadership that can herald, if not institutionalize, bad governance. There are many illustrations or manifestations of this throughout Africa.

“But nowhere is this as amply illustrated as in the Nigerian case, especially between 1999 and 2007.

“The 2007 elections were manifestly the worst in Nigeria’s history, as declared by both domestic and international observers. The EU observer mission, for example, noted that the elections fell ‘short of basic international standards,’ and were characterized by violence and crude use of money to buy votes.

“There was reckless mobilization of ethno-religious cleavages and heightened use of money and thugs to influence results.

“The pre-electoral processes, such as party primaries, were conducted in grossly undemocratic fashion. In many cases, the results were said to have gone to the highest bidder.

“The winner of the presidential election, late President Umaru Yar’Adua, himself admitted on the day of his inauguration that there were serious flaws in the election that brought him to power.

Lists challenges

“There are also other associated challenges. For example, meeting the production deadlines in the production of PVCs was seriously affected by power failures, which damaged equipment, which the vendor could not quickly replace.

“The use of the SCR was constrained by the fact that some polling units were located in areas where there was no Internet coverage.”

Jega lauded President Muhammadu Buhari over the choice of his successor, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, boasting that he would make Nigerian proud with his leadership at INEC.
