SportsOutcry As Real Madrid's Jovic Celebrates Girlfriend's Birthday On The Streets. by Samakus(op): 2:45am On Mar 29, 2020
The 22-year-old attacker was reportedly spotted partying on the streets of Belgrade when he should have been self-isolating

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has hit out at Luka Jovic over claims that the Real Madrid striker broke a quarantine order in his homeland.

The 22-year-old forward, who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer from Eintracht Frankfurt, was alleged to have been seen partying in the streets of Belgrade after returning to his homeland to celebrate the birthday of his girlfriend.

Serbian players had previously been urged to refrain from returning home in a bid to stop the spread of the virus, which has infected over 225,000 people across the world, resulting in more than 9,000 deaths.

Spain has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic, which has caused the virtual lockdown of the entire country, with more than 17,000 cases and 767 deaths.

“We have negative examples of our footballers, who are paid very well, ignoring mandatory self-isolation upon returning home,” Brnabic said of the player's actions, according to AS.

With reports of more than 45,000 people returning home, with many ignoring isolation orders, Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said: “We have written criminal reports against some of these famous athletes. These people will respond when the court determines that the time has come for that.”

Real Madrid players and staff find themselves quarantined following the discovery that basketball player Trey Thompkins tested positive for the disease.

Jovic has however taken to Instagram to share information that he was given permission from the club to return home during the crisis.

"Last Thursday, head of Real Madrid's medical team gave Luke Jovic permission to travel to Serbia (on personal medical prescription) and quarantine at his own home," the post read.

Having been so prolific in the Bundesliga last season, he has managed just two goals and two assists for Madrid in 24 outings, leading to reports that head coach Zinedine Zidane is looking for other options to supplement Karim Benzema at the forefront of his attack.

Madrid’s season has been riddled with inconsistency and they find themselves two points behind league leaders Barcelona in the Primera Division.

Meanwhile, their Champions League hopes are on a knife edge after they suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester City in their last-16 first-leg tie, which was played in the Bernabeu.

The Champions League, like all of Europe’s major competitions, is currently suspended until the viral crisis is controlled.

I have a question.
My appointment letter(An agency under ministry of information)read Dec 2019.
Went for IPPIS documentation Mid February
Resumed same February

We had been told we will be getting three months salary but got March salary alone tonight, not even February was paid.
Does the federal govt pay for three months at the beginning really?
The mistake is that your assumption of duty didn't read Dec 2019. FG pays based on the date you assumed your job. Had it been that they backdated your assumption of duty to Dec 2019, IPPIS would have paid you for January to march 2019.

Just forget about it. The main thing is that you're already in the system and you will grow with others. Congratulations!!

Nairaland GeneralCOVID-19: Dean Koontz Did Not Predict The Coronavirus In His 1981 Novel - CNN by Samakus(op): 7:50am On Mar 26, 2020
No, Dean Koontz did not predict the coronavirus in a 1981 novel

By Harmeet Kaur, CNN

Author Dean Koontz wrote a novel called "The Eyes of Darkness" originally published in 1981, describing a killer virus that some claimed echoes the current coronavirus outbreak. The coronavirus is officially a global pandemic, so naturally, people are feeding their anxieties by voraciously consuming movies and books about other outbreaks.

Some of them bear eerie similarities to what's happening right now, prompting some people on the internet to claim that certain storytellers "predicted" the spread of coronavirus.

One particularly striking example comes from a thriller novel by Dean Koontz called "The Eyes of Darkness."

In a tweet that has since been widely shared, someone said that Koontz had predicted the coronavirus outbreak based on a screenshot of a page in the book. But to say that Koontz saw all this coming is a bit of a stretch. A novel is a work of fiction, after all.

So let's break it down.

In the book, the virus is a man-made weapon

In the screenshot page from the novel, a character named Dombey narrates a story about a Chinese scientist who brought a biological weapon called "Wuhan-400" to the United States:

"To understand that," Dombey said, "you have to go back twenty months. It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen defected to the United States, carrying a diskette record of China's most important and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff 'Wuhan-400' because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside the city of Wuhan, and it was the four-hundredth viable strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research center."

First, it's worth pointing out that in the original 1981 edition of "The Eyes of Darkness," this biological weapon was called "Gorki-400," in reference to a Russian locality. The name of the weapon was changed to "Wuhan-400" when the book was released again in 1989, according to the South China Morning Post.

It's true that the current coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan, China. But the idea that the virus was created in a lab is actually a conspiracy theory that originated from unverified social media accounts and has since been widely dismissed by scientists from both China and the West.

Experts are still trying to figure out the exact source of the virus, but research indicates that it likely originated in bats and was transmitted to an intermediate host before jumping to people -- just like its cousin that caused the 2003 SARS epidemic.

In the book, the virus has a 100% mortality rate

In a later paragraph, the character Dombey goes on to say that no one infected with virus survives:

"And Wuhan-400 has other, equally important advantages over most biological agents. For one thing, you can become an infectious carrier only four hours after coming into contact with the virus. That's an incredibly short gestation period. Once infected, no one lives more than twenty-four hours. Most die in twelve. Wuhan-400's kill rate is one hundred percent."

That's not the case with the coronavirus.

First off, people infected by the coronavirus tend to develop symptoms about five days after exposure, and almost always within two weeks, according to a recent study.

Secondly, the mortality rate for coronavirus is not even close to 100%.

While the virus can be fatal, it's mostly the elderly and those with a weakened immune system or other health conditions who face more serious risks.

Officials estimate the death rate for the virus to be around 3% to 4% globally, based on the information they have, though they expect that number to fall.

So while Koontz may be a captivating writer, he's no psychic.

Well, God is the ultimate. But to be sincere with you, most of us in one way or the other were connected. Like, the year I was employed, all of us about 8000 recruited that year, there was not advert made. Insiders informed relatives to write and applied for so, so position and then they follow up. To be frank, I started work and recived 3 months salaries before I attended interview which was tagged regularization. That's not to say I was not capable of passing my job interview because I was practicing the same job with private organization. So in summary, I believe we all came in thought the help of one person or the other. Truth be told.
8000? I hope it's not UNN because those are mere rumours. While there was a massive recruitment, it wasn't more than 2500. Total staff strength now is a little above 9k

To the question, nobody gets job in a Federal establishment without knowing someone or someone that knows someone. If it's by online/offline application, we won't be here. So network and then pray. Being on this thread is a good start. You can build your network from here and also from other places. All the best

In a memo to all Area Coordinators signed by Sanusi A.R on behalf of the NYSC DG, he stated that corps members willing to travel to their various homes should be allowed to go.

"I am directed to request all state coordinators to grant permission to corps members willing to travel, especially those in the teaching or allied professions.

"For the period it will last, corps members should be advised to adopt all preventive tips provided by the federal health authorities including high level of hygiene and refrain from any unwholesome act that may put them at risk," the DG said.
