your boot.ini is missing or corrupt ...you need to repair your os with a an installation cd via sfc command to replace the missing files..
i think a profession is the best option

Help: Unknown Application Running

Please, I need assistance on this issue I started noticing in the early hours of today.

Whenever I try shutting down my PC, just before it shuts down, it brings out a notice that an application is currently running and preventing the PC from shutting down properly with an option to either cancel the shut down and go back to close the application normally or continue the shut down which forces the application to close on it own.

This should be normal if indeed I have an application running but the issue is, I don't have any programme open or running before attempting to shut down and neither does the notice tell me the name of the application that's running in background and the application icon is unknown.

I notice that my PC takes some time to boot and I guess the application might equally be responsible for this and my programmes take longer time to open when double-click on. Also, the speed of my cooling fan is running faster even when I'm not running any application or heavy application.

Also, my battery life has reduced. Normally, when fully charged, and if I move my mouse to the battery sign, I get 5 hours of usage even though it will last for 3 hours. But now, it shows 2 hours and last less even on 100% charge.

All these started when I did the following;

1. Defragment my hard drive.
2. Crack a version of Utorrent.
3. Install Google Chrome.

PC is HP Elitebook 8480p.

always seek advice before u before some operations...in your case,2 things are the suspect "defragment" and google chrome..
google chrome has multiple processes running on your system so if your ram is small then it becomes a problem
try this quick solution....do a system restore to an earleir date before u performed the first action if u have one earlier created

Sometimes it gives me the format option but I can't format it for my valuables contained in it. It shows on the computer some times and doesn't at other times. How can I fix it.

pls dont attempt to copy ur files,os,app directly as someone earlier suggest....it wld never work...
the right way is called "CLONING" which would mirror ur system along with all the hardware id with lie like u never left the system

I think you are wrong. Dino and Remi were both wrong in their actions but more blame goes to Remi. In a Traditional gathering, Remi had no right or privilege to insult Dino as man. If you take it to religious stand point, Remi erred as well. Morally, she did not act like Woman who deserves respect and protection of a man. cos i my Dell system windows 10 has screen problem so i need 3 fone stock rom frm dat hard drive
and i dnt have de adapter use as external drive

u need a registry cleaner(a paid one) and not all those free ones to remove all the invalid entries..
ccleaner is free but i have never used it before...i use uniblue registry booster

DIY pples<<<u need to specify your memory details as in ram size
2...you may have bigger files running on startup thus consuming the memory
3..your antivirus may also be responsible for the "sluggishness"...esp wen its avast or those chunky sized AV..
4...as for your sound driver..pls always let the pros do their work...some drivers may have to be done manually or made compactible to work cuz the manufacturers have not released an update for ur os(a major problem with win 10)..so it takes a lot of experience and tech know how to know what wld work

u either have invalid entries in ur registry;probably an application was not properly installed or uninstalled
or
just a hard incompactibility issue
those are some of the issue mainly responsible for a BSOD(blue screen of death(

you shdnt have reverted ur windows back to win 8(i guess i have been away for too long)..your problem was a simple one but quite technical
you initially relied on the drivers included in the windows 10 installation and when that failed....im surprised no one here suggested u un-install all the present drivers first before u apply the solution..
anyways,u can contact me on 08061679732 if u still want to use windows 10(its way better than the win 8 u installed)and i can also solve ur activation problems within a few mins..
u need to state which windows build u use(64bit or 32bit) and its class(premium,home edition or pro)
i use the highest class though(enterprise) which is not available as a free update as provided by microsoft,,u will have to do a clean install and error-trapping wld be easier

life can really be funny and cruel...people come on this forum everyday to complain abt some problem
even dead hard drives and i attempt to restore;in most cases i revive them
i really enjoy playing "mini god of computers"
but when my sister was struggling for her life and eventually lost it...i wish it were one of those problems many posters bring to this forum cuz i would have fixed it as i always fix even more complicated issues but this was no failing hard drive or bad os..
even as i watched her lying dead in the mortuary,i wished she was just a computer i could just enter her bios,restore or reformat her os or change the motherboard...so she can come back to life...but this what no computer or laptop..
this a a human being and have have no control over her life and even the almighty couldnt be simulated...
i wish there was a forum i could post my own problem on and maybe angels in my form or big t or adetwin could help..

Guys in the House. I'm having issues with my laptop's connection to the net. Im using a Dell Windows 10 laptop. Of recent I have realised that the laptop's internet connection gives a slow response. Even when using my office wifi, its slow, while other PCs have fast connection. I use Kapersky internet security and its up to date. Guys what can be wrong. Its really baffling me as it just started about three weeks ago and I have been using the laptop since last year November

Kaspersky Internet security may be the problem if not properly configured(online protection,phishing...).i always advice Kav instead.in some cases,u may even experience difficulties opening some sites.there are other factors which may also be responsible but from ur observation that it's only when u connect online.
Here is a simple test to confirm,remove the kaspersky the check if ur still having the same problems

many factors may be responsible:
1..your hdd port may be bad
2..the cable may not be required cable needed to power the external hdd
3..u may be plugging in in the wrong port...ie if the ext hdd is usb 3.0 and ur plugging it into a usb 2.0 port

your mbr/partition table is corrupt....you may need to diagnose your hdd for partition repair and eventually reload your os if needed

Hello! Pls helllp! My pc has refused to come on/ boot. Its showing : there are no boot devices press f1 to reboot, press f2 for set up. If I hit f1, it shows d same message but if I hit f2 it sends me to settings and I don't know weda to tamper with any of the settings there. Help cos the PC is still new. Don't know what cud b wrong. for tiwa,its just natural the evil spirit money gets women higher than men but she does quite love him enough to even cover his bills but she may have also neglected some of her marital duties..
as for the management saga,i dont see anything wrong with him continuing to be her manager since he was there from the state(that was what really devastated him)..if she really wanted to solve the issue of him syphoning money to his account,she would have instead of making excuses but i guess his lifestyle must have scared her..
whether he comes home 2am or not,he still deserves to be fed...just make it available even if ur fast asleep...tiwa is a celebrity so pls ask her when she normally gets home too especially after show to show.....i guess they could use a house maid..
