The truth is the ISPs lie about the capacity of bandwidth they can deliver. Dont be moved by the 3G, 4G nonsense they peddle all over the place. From information i gathered, mtn has less than 40 wimax powered base stations in lagos. A lot of locations are not covered by mtn hynet, but i learnt they are working on expanding. For me, they should stick to their traditional voice calls instead of dabbling about aimlessly. Maybe u should try other WISPs in lagos, their service i m sure would be preferable but a bit xpensive.

I would think the desktop has driver issues or the wireless interface has been disabled, would need to enable it. Most unlikely cause could be that the wlan chipset does not support your router device (10% chance of possibility)

A lot of individuals and companies take for granted the protection of the datas and files in their computer likely. There have been fatal occurences of virus, worms erasing confidential and non confidential files within a short period of time. Viruses have been around as far back as the computer itself. Recently, i walked into a high profile multi-national IT company with a branch in lagos to check out a new line of products. I had to transfersome files from their office computer with my flash into mine. Low and behold, the antivirus i had renewed that morning was able to detect over 345 harmful programs. It was a close shave for me, a guy from one of the big advertising companies was not lucky as the entire files and a sample of a logo meant for a big project 4 a bank was wiped out from his flash and computer. All hell was let loose, i learnt it took them 3 months to develop the logo. The only saving grace was a copy left with his boss in the office. I learnt his boss was the no-nonsence type, who would pull the sack trigger at any provocation. I could only watch helplessly as the poor dude paced the room in frustration. All the company could say is the usual "WE ARE VERY SORRY, SIR".

Its called shared burstable bandwidth. Your link is shared by more than enough users. When there are less users online u could experience higher browsing speed. To say the truth 60kb is 2 poor. Mine flunctuates btw 100kb-150kb for normal browsing. For video, i see burstable speed of 150kb uplink and 450kb downlink. Fair enough

@digitite. Like u said, fibre is the future, it is expensive to deploy even in the us and europe. Why would u want to jump the gun. I think u should start with basic lan cabling, ip subnetting, wireless tech 802.1x, routing, swithching technology and stuff. In this field, u dont want to leave anything behind and come back for them later. I started with ccna, delved into mikrotik, juniper and others, i ve come to realise that the basic really counts. I know guys who are deep with practical stuffs, but cant do basic subnetting.You dont want to walk dat path.

Family guy/simpson are money spinners, south park is consistent in keeping its original acts till date, thats a plus but it doesnt generate as much cash outside the us and europe. 2oth century owns family guy/simpson, that tells u its worth the investment. Besides that, the three are in a different league. South pask is pretty cool too, but personally, its family gut 4 me.
