Education is one of the vital factors that contribute to the progress of society, in underdeveloped and developing nations, where literacy rate is not as high; a number of people are still living below the poverty line. Some countries (such as Japan and South Korea) have progressively maintained remarkable positions within the category of education systems; these are countries with very high literacy rates. These countries are extremely prosperous and the citizens have a high per capita income. Education is vital for the economic prosperity of a nation. In this article, I want to unveil to you the most educated countries in the world. If you want to find out the most educated and most literate country in the world, we believe this post is perfectly made for you, so read on. Top 20 Most Educated Countries In The World 1. Japan THE MOST EDUCATED COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD TOP 20 The first most educated country happens to be Japan; research has shown that Japanese students are consistently rank highly among (OECD) students in terms of quality and performance in reading literacy, math, and sciences. The average student scored 540 in reading literacy, maths and science in the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and the country has one of the world’s highest-educated labour forces among OECD countries. Its populace is well educated and its society highly values education as a platform for social mobility and for gaining employment in the country’s high-tech economy. The country’s large pool of highly educated and skilled individuals is largely responsible for ushering Japan’s post-war economic growth. For three consecutive quarters, Japan has remained the best country in terms of education. Regarded as the country with the best education system in the world, Japan merits this spot as its government vigorously pumps substantial funds into the academic sector. Moreover, the Japanese education system adopts sophisticated technology in imparting knowledge to students. 2. South Korea THE MOST EDUCATED COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD TOP 20 The second most educated country is South Korea. South Korea is one of the top-performing OECD countries in reading literacy, mathematics and sciences with the average student scoring 542. The country has one of the world’s highest-educated labour forces among OECD countries. The country is well known for its obsession with education, which has come to be called “education fever”. The resource-poor nation is consistently ranked amongst the top for global education. In the 2014 national rankings of students’ math and science scores by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), South Korea ranked second place worldwide. South Korea outclasses Japan based on some of the criteria for ranking the world’s best education systems. However, Japan still claims the first spot (above South Korea and other countries) in view of its massive spending aimed at promoting early childhood education. Therefore, South Korea maintains the second spot just behind its toughest counterpart –Japan. 3. United Kingdom THE MOST EDUCATED COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD TOP 20 Traditionally a high-performing country in international rankings of education, the UK has stagnated in recent years in such rankings as the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests; in 2013 for reading and maths the country as a whole stood in the middle-rankings, a position broadly similar to three years before. Within the UK Scotland performed marginally better than England; both were slightly ahead of Northern Ireland and markedly ahead of Wales. However these results contradict those of the education and publishing firm Pearson published in 2014, which placed the UK in second place across European countries and sixth worldwide; these rankings took account of higher-education graduate rates, which may have accounted for the higher ranking than in PISA UK actually merits a top position on this list majorly as a result of its steady academic advancement. At the same time, the United Kingdom has the best education system in the entirety of Europe. Each of the members (such as England and Wales) under the United Kingdom has contributed immensely to the academic phase of the country and this is actually why UK deserves no less than the third position among the world’s most educated countries. 4. Singapore Singapore is best rated for its impressive primary education and this has given it a significant edge in the attempt to outclass UK’s education system. For considerable years, Singapore has maintained a remarkable education system and records show that the country’s education system might displace that of the United Kingdom anytime soon. 5. Russia The literacy rate in Russia, according to a 2015 estimate by the Central Intelligence Agency, is 99.7% (99.7% men, 99.6% women). According to a 2016 OECD estimate, 54% of Russia’s adults (25- to 64-year-olds) have attained a tertiary education, giving Russia the second highest attainment of college-level education in the world. 47.7% have completed secondary education (the full 11-year course); 26.5% have completed middle school (9 years) and 8.1% have elementary education (at least 4 years). Highest rates of tertiary education, 24.7% are recorded among women aged 35–39 years (compared to 19.5% for men of the same age bracket). To some people, Russia should have claimed a greater rank than the fifth position –or simply considered the most educated country in the world. With a lack of adequate spending on childhood education being its major weakness, some observers believe Russia doesn’t deserve anything above the fifth position. 6. Finland Early childhood education is not mandatory in Finland, but is used by almost everyone.Looking at each of the criteria for ranking the most educated countries, Finland misses out on the first position but again, the country has managed to appear among the top 20 countries with the best education system due to its considerable investment in education. Also noteworthy is that Finland isn’t ranked beyond the sixth position due to its childhood education that lacks adequate standards. Canada Education is compulsory up to the age of 16 in every province in Canada, except for Manitoba, Ontario, and New Brunswick, where the compulsory age is 18, or as soon as a high school diploma has been achieved. Canada should have merited more than this position but the fact that the country barely pays attention to adequate childhood education has deprived it of a much better global academic stance. Significantly, Canada is the highest producer of college graduates across the globe and this is obviously why the country is worthy of mention herein. 8. Netherlands The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), coordinated by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), ranks the education in the Netherlands as the 9th best in the world as of 2008, being significantly higher than the OECD average. On a certain ground, Netherland should have claimed a better position at the expense of the countries above but its inadequate out-turn of high school graduates reduces its academic prestige and deprives it of a better rate. On the other hand, Netherland spends massively in promoting early childhood education but this alone is not enough to give the country a position better than this. Ireland Although Ireland’s education system is associated with some advancement, the country doesn’t merit any position better than this because its government hardly focuses on the swift development of early childhood education. If the Irish government could fortify the country’s early childhood education, Ireland would bridge its competition amidst the other countries ranked above it. 10. Israel Israel’s populace is well educated and Israeli society highly values education. Education is a core value in Jewish culture and in Israeli society at large with many Israeli parents sacrificing their own personal comforts and financial resources to provide their children with the highest standards of education possible. Much of the Israeli Jewish population seek education as a passport to a decent job and a middle class paycheck in the country’s competitive high-tech economy. Jewish parents especially mothers take great responsibility to inculcate the value of education in their children at a young age Finland is believed to have adopted the Israeli education system in modifying its own system of providing education. Meanwhile, Israel is restricted to the tenth position majorly because its government is yet to invest considerably in the advancement of early childhood education. 11. China As regards China’s gargantuan population (regarded as the largest in the world), the country is considered one of the global largest education systems. While China has phenomenally expanded basic education for its people, quadrupling its output of college graduates in the past decade, it has also created a system that discriminates against its less wealthy and well-connected citizens, thwarting social mobility at every step with bureaucratic and financial barriers. A huge gap in educational opportunities between students from rural areas and those from cities is one of the main culprits. Some 60 million students in rural schools are ‘left-behind’ children, cared for by their grandparents as their parents seek work in faraway cities. While many of their urban peers attend schools equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and well-trained teachers, rural students often huddle in decrepit school buildings and struggle to grasp advanced subjects such as English and chemistry amid a dearth of qualified instructors. Impressively, the Chinese academic sector still manages to appear in the category of the world’s best education systems. However, China doesn’t make the Top 10 mainly because the Chinese government spends less on early childhood education. Also, there is no massive number of students competing for high school enrollments. 12. New Zealand Primary and secondary education in New Zealand runs from aged 5 to aged 19, with school compulsory between 6 and 16. There are three types of secondary schools in New Zealand: state schools educate approximately 85% of students, state-integrated schools — private schools that have been integrated into the state but keep their special charter — educate 12%, and private schools educate 3%. New Zealand is associated with poor academic performances at the primary level and unfortunately, this constitutes the reasons why the country is never on a par with either of the countries ranked among the top 10 best educated countries in the world. 13. Norway Like New Zealand, Norway is restricted to a lower position because it is largely associated with poor academic performances at the primary level. If not for this drawback, Norway should have ranked higher than this because it’s other academic levels show excellence. Not as successful as their neighboring country Finland, Norway’s education system is very good, the only weakness is at the primary education student test scores. 14. Belgium Belgium has four different genres of secondary schools, namely general secondary schools, technical secondary schools, vocational secondary education schools, and art secondary education institutions. The Fulbright Commission in the US, which organizes student exchanges with Belgium and Luxembourg, says: “Education enjoys high priority, and the largest share of the regional governments’ annual budget in Belgium. Complete systems of public and private schools are available to all children between the ages of 4 and 18, at little or no cost.” Initially, Belgium’s education system showed some excellent performance but at a later time, the Belgian government reduced its academic investment. Consequently, the Belgian education system was driven backwards. 15. Germany History has shown Germany has a very strong education system, however, over the last couple of decades; they’ve fallen behind other countries in addressing social change within the country, the German government has failed to keep social change within its grips and this has reduced the academic prestige of Germany. Denmark Denmark is rather brilliant in the aspect of childhood education, the country is still observed as maintaining average standards in all academic levels and this is why it isn’t worth being ranked high. 17. Estonia Estonia has been doing well in both early childhood and primary aspects of education. Estonia spends around 4% of its GDP on education, according to 2015 figures. The country’s 1992 Education Act says that the goals of education are “to create favorable conditions for the development of personality, family and the Estonian nation; to promote the development of ethnic minorities, economic, political and cultural life in Estonia and the preservation of nature in the global economic and cultural context; to teach the values of citizenship; and to set up the prerequisites for creating a tradition of lifelong learning nation-wide.” Meanwhile, it is quite surprising that the country manages to rank better than the United States in terms of education. 18. U.S.A Some observers might frown at the certainty that the United States of America is kept within the 18th position as regards the most educated countries in the world. Although the United States has global influence and is considered one of the richest countries, it is yet to focus highly on early childhood education and improve on its out-turn of high school graduates. 19. France France claims a significant point in terms of early childhood education. However, it has failed to rank well on this list due to its negligence towards the other academic levels such as high education. Early-Childhood commitment to prepare children for entrance into primary school is impressive. The problem starts with primary levels due to the country’s growing multicultural population. Consequently, the country hasn’t achieved any remarkable feat beyond early childhood education. 20. Portugal Portugal should have ranked well if not for the setbacks the European Union has posed to it. The countries high school graduation rate reported by OECD’s 2012 (100%) is being challenged by EU, which conclude Portugal’s weak economy state. As a result of this, the country is plagued by a controversial out-turn of high school graduates. Without any doubt, Portugal claims the last and twentieth spot on the list of top 20 best education systems in the world. That’s all on the Top 20 Most Educated Countries in The World 2017 / 2018. I know that this information may be of help to you but if there seems to be any question please use the comment box tank you. |

Lol...the case in UK is choking her. She has seen that the UK courts will soon convict her she wants to come back home to see if she can bribe her way out through the judiciary. Unfortunately, the UK courts has restricted her movements out of the UK so she can face the music squarely. She cant leave the UK unless the Nigerian government demands for her officially. Now she wants to arm-twist the Nigerian Government into ordering her home so she can evade justice in UK. Madam, no worry. Stay in UK and face the music like Ibori did. When they are thru with you, we will request that they bring back whatever is left of you so you can face the music here also. And we still dont have enough facilities to threat cancer, so enjoy your medical vacation. In a nutshell you don't want her come back and face her trial but you would rather she is tried in her absent and convicted unjustly to prove your hatred for her? |
what i hate most is abusive language and being forced to work Saturdays and Sundays. simply because you are oga or madam you will now be calling your subordinates derogatory names. Human right activists and governmental and non-governmental bodies responsible of labor matters should as a matter of urgency check banking sector and deliver workers that are being constantly abuse and dehumanized. pls they should start with UBA |
if she loves you, she will love your people unconditionally because she will not want anything to take away your peace and happiness. But if she only love your material things then she will not bother about your peace and happiness. Again marriage is for men and not boys. men have emotional stability and independence and can make their decisions independently without calling for FAMILY meeting or VILLAGE meeting. |
Today in History The coup speech that overthrew Major-General Muhammadu Buhari on August 27, 1985 I, Brigadier Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, of the Nigerian Army, hereby make the following declaration on behalf of my colleagues and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Fellow country men, the intervention of the military at the end of 1983 was welcomed by the nation with unprecedented enthusiasm. Nigerians were unified in accepting the intervention and looked forward hopefully to progressive changes for the better. Almost two years later, it has become clear that the fulfillment of expectations is not forthcoming. Because this generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country but Nigeria, we could not stay passive and watch a small group of individuals misuse power to the detriment of our national aspirations and interest. No nation can ever achieve meaningful strides in its development where there is an absence of cohesion in the hierarchy of government; where it has become clear that positive action by the policy makers is hindered because as a body it lacks a unity of purpose. It is evident that the nation would be endangered with the risk of continuous misdirection. We are presently confronted with that danger. In such a situation, if action can be taken to arrest further damage, it should and must be taken. This is precisely what we have done. The Nigerian public has been made to believe that the slow pace of action of the Federal Government headed by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari was due to the enormity of the problems left by the last civilian administration. Although it is true that a lot of problems were left behind by the last civilian government, the real reason, however, for the very slow pace of action is due to lack of unanimity of purpose among the ruling body; subsequently, the business of governance has gradually been subjected to ill-motivated power play considerations. The ruling body, the Supreme Military Council, has, therefore, progressively been made redundant by the actions of a select few members charged with the day-to-day implementation of the SMC’s policies and decision. The concept of collective leadership has been substituted by stubborn and illadvised unilateral actions, thereby destroying the principles upon which the government came to power. Any effort made to advise the leadership, met with stubborn resistance and was viewed as a challenge to authority or disloyalty. Thus, the scene was being set for systematic elimination of what, was termed oppositions. All the energies of the rulership were directed at this imaginary opposition rather than to effective leadership. The result of this misdirected effort is now very evident in the country as a whole. The government has started to drift. The economy does not seem to be getting any better as we witness daily increased inflation. The nation’s meager resources are once again being wasted on unproductive ventures. Government has distanced itself from the people and the yearnings and aspirations of the people as constantly reflected in the media have been ignored. This is because a few people have arrogated to themselves the right to make the decisions for the larger part of the ruling body. All these events have shown that the present composition of our country’s leadership cannot, therefore, justify its continued occupation of that position. Furthermore, the initial objectives and programmes of action which were meant to have been implemented since the ascension to power of the Buhari Administration in January 1984 have been betrayed and discarded. The present state of uncertainty and stagnation cannot be permitted to degenerate into suppression and retrogression. We feel duty bound to use the resources and means at our disposal to restore hope in the minds of Nigerians and renew aspirations for a better future. We are no prophets of doom for our beloved country, Nigeria. We, therefore, count on everyone’s cooperation and assistance. I appeal to you, fellow countrymen, particularly my colleagues in arms to refrain from any act that will lead to unnecessary violence and bloodshed among us. Rest assured that our action is in the interest of the nation and the armed forces. In order to enable a new order to be introduced, the following bodies are dissolved forthwith pending further announcements: (a) The Supreme Military Council (b) The Federal Executive Council (c) The National Council of States. All seaports and airports are closed, all borders remain closed. Finally, a dusk to dawn curfew is hereby imposed in Lagos and all state capitals until further notice. All military commanders will ensure effective maintenance of law and order. Further announcements will be made in due course. God bless Nigeria. |

What a royal family shake-up! Queen Elizabeth has officially named her beloved grandson Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, the next King and Queen of England, according to Life & Style magazine. Unfortunately, this means the Queen's eldest son, Prince Charles, has officially been skipped over in the British monarchy's line of succession. http://www.closerweekly.com/posts/queen-elizabeth-prince-william-kate-middleton-king-queen-prince-charles-138913 |
All I know is that OSIBANJO is not working freely He is not projecting neither is he running with his own vision and philosophy. He cannot take so many decisions without BUHARI agreeing. Let BUHARI resign and let OSIBANJO becomes substantial president with full powers, then you will see OSIBANJO as president different from OSIBANJO as acting president |
Pls look for somebody who dont have and give him/her and God will bless you |

National Open University of Nigeria will not allow you entry into your student portal if you did not pay school fees. So I paid my school fees, course registration fees and examination registration fees and the portal open for me to do all relevant registrations (semester registration, course registration and examination registration) I did all and printed copies. My TMA’s were uploaded and I completed all and submitted and got my scores recorded also. To my greatest shock when it was just few days to examination, my study center decided to do examination registration verification which cost each student 500 naira only, I found out that all my registration on my portal disappeared, I contacted the school, the personnel in charge of ICT gave me email address to forward my challenges and to my utmost surprise and dismay all the relevant authorities in the school just kept mum, no replay to my email and when you tried talking to the director he is not ready to do anything about it. This is the second time NOUN is scamming me of my hard earned money. It seems NOUN is fraud after all!!!!!!! |
