compare the price earning ratio with its other stock in the same industry,or possibly find the average of the price earning ratio if its below the subsector average then its not over valued,

when a share is on steady decline if the price earning ratio is high then,the decline its a correction but if d price earning ratio is low,hold on to it in no time it will recover

Bombardier will break new ground early this year with its plan to enter the bus market with the launch of two commercial trials of electric-powered vehicles.

Financial Times reports that the Canadian aircraft and rail equipment maker, including trains and trams, is using a wireless charging technology it has developed to try to break into the bus market.

If successful, the move could help the group diversify from its two traditional businesses, where analysts have recently flagged concerns about performance.

The targeting of the bus market is part of a strategy being developed by Primove, a new business unit at the company, which has developed some of the most advanced wireless charging technology in the market for large electric vehicles.

The charging system is based on inductive loop technology – the same principle that charges modern electric toothbrushes – which manipulates powerful magnetic fields to recharge batteries without any contact.

Jérémie Desjardins, the head of the Primove unit, told the Financial Times that the idea dated back to 2007 when he and a team of engineers starting looking at how to use the technology to enable them to remove catenaries, which pick up electricity from overhead lines, from its trams.

“When we started on this five years ago we looked at how much power we could generate and how to control the magnetic fields. The magnetic fields need to be covered by the vehicle it is charging so that it is not ‘visible’ to anyone,” he said.

The team, based at Bombardier’s rail and tram research and development centre in Mannheim, Germany, found a solution but had to wait for improvements in battery technology before it could be put to commercial use.

Mr Desjardins said it soon became apparent that a slightly scaled down version of the charging system for trams could be used to recharge electric buses.

Bombardier has two contracts for commercial trials with local authorities in Braunschweig in Germany, where it has teamed up with Polish busmaker Solaris, and Bruges in Belgium, where it is working with Van Hool, a local bus supplier.

Mr Desjardins said the technology was meant to replace traditional diesel engines. As part of this move Bombardier is hoping to expand its offering to busmakers by drawing on its extensive expertise in electric rail technology to develop electric drive trains for buses.

Investors have been wary of Bombardier in recent years as it invested heavily in the development of its new C-series family of aircraft, which was designed to take on Airbus and Boeing’s highly successful short haul aircraft, the A320 and 737 families, respectively.

on my way to office i was stranded at Obalende today,even the garage was deserted,everyone was scrambling for the few available buses,i was asking myself could it that the commercial transporter operators have gone on strike or traveled for Christmas celebration?it didn't take second before my trekking mate told me that President Jonathan is coming to Lagos.
For how long is president going to subject we his boss to these inhumane hardship simply because he wants to ply some roads ?,perhaps he usually travel by air (Helicopter).
I think National Assembly should pass a bill forbidden President and His wife from inconveniencing his fellow Nigerians for reasons which are not even related to National assignment.

Principal, Ajuwon Senior High School, Ajuwon, Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, Rev. Olufunke Oladeojobi, has been quizzed by the police for allegedly conducting virginity tests on the pupils.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Oladeojobi, who was described as a strict disciplinarian, by her pupils called in a nurse and jointly carried out virginity tests on a group of 10 students last week Monday.

It was further learnt that the principal did not seek the consent of the parents/guardians of the pupils before conducting the test on Senior Secondary School 1 pupils.

During the test, it was alleged that the principal and the nurse whose name could not be ascertained allegedly dipped their fingers into the pupils’ private parts.

After the exercise, which took place at the principal’s office, each of the pupils was given an exercise book.

A 15-year-old pupil, who identified herself simply as Ayo, said the principal came into the classroom on the day and announced that all female SSS 1 pupils should converge on the assembly ground.

She said the principal subsequently asked that those who had yet to lose their virginity should stand apart.

Ayo said, “We are over 600 in SSS 1 but only about 300 of us are females. Those of us that are virgins are 38 and we were matched into the principal’s office with the assistance of members of staff.

“They subsequently divided us into three groups of 10, 15 and 13 and I was in the second group. The principal later addressed us and threatened that any pupil who fails the test would have her name written in the school’s black book and would be suspended.”

Ayo said she became apprehensive when everyone who emerged from the office where the test was being carried out came out with a sad and disgusting look.

She said, “When my class captain emerged from the room, I asked her why anyone that came out of the office looked depressed? I was held spell bound when she told me that the principal and the nurse dipped their fingers in turns into their private parts, adding that she had started bleeding as a result of the penetration.

“Just as I was asking further questions from her, the principal dashed out of her office and announced that she had discovered one student who had lost her virginity out of the 10 students that were examined.

“She wrote her name on one of the notice boards in her office and ordered the rest of us to return to our various classes. Two of my friends who had similar experiences burst into tears as they narrated what happened.”

Thirteen-year-old SSS I pupil of the school, identified simply as Ujunwa, said the principal was happy that she was able to “catch a promiscuous pupil” as she felt proud to discuss it on the assembly ground the next day.

She, however, added that her joyous moments was soon short-lived when the parents of the 10 pupils stormed the school in protest against the development.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the pupils rebelled against Oladeojobi last Wednesday as they did a sit-in on the assembly ground protesting and demanding that she should be redeployed from the school.

It was gathered that it was the teachers’ intervention that calmed the pupils.

Ujunwa said, “The parents of the girl that was said to have lost her virginity who happens to be a member of the Press Club and the other nine parents besieged the school last Tuesday and Wednesday and queried our principal for conducting such an unauthorised test on their children.

“The parents then came with policemen attached to the Ajuwon Police Division where they had reported the incident on Thursday and arrested our principal.”

When our correspondent visited the school on Tuesday, the school had closed for the term while Oladeojobi’s office was shut. Her telephone rang out while a text message sent to her phone was not responded to.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer of Ajuwon Division, Mr. Waheed Yusuf, a Chief Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He said the investigation into the matter was still “ongoing” and declined further comment until “investigations were concluded.”

But, a policeman attached to the station who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Oladeojobi owned up to the incident.

He said, “She confessed that she conducted virginity tests on the pupils and that ‘she was trying to help them.’ We took her in for questioning on Thursday and Friday but she was not detained as my superiors were taking into consideration that she is a civil servant.

“We might have some problems if she (Oladeojobi) is to be charged to court for sexual assault because the matter was reported to the police late and no medical examination was immediately done on the affected pupils to use as a proof in the law court.”

Operators of both the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) and LAGBUS bus services in Lagos have denied a message posted by FRSC on its Twitter page that a vehicle in their fleets was involved in any road mishap on Monday.

The rumour mill was thick on Monday morning to the effect that 'a fully loaded BRT bus crashed and plunged into the Lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos'. This rumour stemmed from this post taken from the Twitter page of the FRSC: “A fully loaded BRT bus fell off the 3rd mainland bridge into the Lagos lagoon, 26-11-12. Rescue work in progress. Motorists be cautious.”

The managing director of LAGBUS Assets Management Ltd., operators of LAGBUS buses, Mr Babatunde Disu, denied any such incident.

Disu said that no bus in the LAGBUS fleet, as well as its sister transport company, BRT, was involved in any accident on Monday.

"Some people can be mischievous! Nothing of such has happened and nobody is praying for such a disaster", Disu said.

In the same vein, Mr Kolawole Ojelabi, a consultant with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA)-- regulators of the BRT-- said that the "malicious rumour was only the imagination of some weird people".

Ojelabi also prayed that no such evil would befall the transport sector in the state, either private or public.

The Osun government has sent a bill to the state House of Assembly, seeking stiffer penalties for rapists, including the cutting off of the penis.


Mofolake Adegboyega, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, told newsmen on Friday in Osogbo that the bill recommended among other penalties, the cutting off of the ``third leg’’.

The commissioner said the ``Violence Against Women and Children Bill’’, was aimed at reducing the incidence of rape in the state.

The commissioner, who expressed sadness at the increasing trend, especially that of minors, said the state government was working out possible solutions.

According to her, one of the ways of curbing the problem is the bill, which has been sent to the House of Assembly.

She said the bill would spell out details of punishment for culprits within the confines of the law.

She observed that until those who were involved in the inhuman habit were made to face severe punishment, they might never be deterred.

Adegboyega referred to Saudi Arabia, where legs and even heads of culprits were cut off for serious offences, stressing that it would not be too much to cut off the penis of a rapist.

The commissioner observed that it was shameful that not only the unmarried persons were involved in the act, but even elderly persons as old as grandfathers.

As part of the government’s efforts to curb the development, Adegboyega said officials of the ministry had embarked on enlightenment campaign in public places.

``We are going to schools to talk to children on how to conduct themselves, so that they will not play into the hands of men, who are out to abuse them.

``We have also approached traditional rulers on how rapists can be brought to book, including placing a curse on them,” she said.

According to her, efforts are being made to ensure that the authorities of the Police College include a course on rape in their curriculum.

he Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, weekend, said its intervention in the banking sector saved 90 per cent of employees that would have lost their jobs in the banking sector.

The corporation also decried the adoption of due process and bureaucratic process of getting things done in Nigeria, saying: “Despite the implementation of massive bureaucracy, corruption has not declined in the country.”

Managing Director, AMCON, Mr. Mustapher Chike-Obi, who stated this at the second Investors’ Forum organised by FBN Capital in Lagos, said: “Do we need all the bureaucracy to get our things done better? We should be result oriented. We must build roads whether with or without due process. We don’t have good roads in Nigeria.”

On AMCON’s intervention in the banking sector, he, said: “People thought we came to take over the banks, not knowing we intervened to prevent Nigerian banks from collapsing and helping depositors from losing their money. Also, our intervention helped 90 per cent of the employees in the banking sector from losing their jobs because these banks were in serious negative balance sheet. What we have accomplished now is to take their balance sheet to zero position.”

Faults regulatory agency over fixing of tariff

While commenting on power, Chike-Obi, said: “ I have been asking everybody who knows about power why we have a regulatory agency that set tariff for Nigerian power? It seems to me that in Nigeria today over 90 per cent of electricity is not regulated. It is not even generated and since diesel is unregulated, that means the power is largely unregulated in terms of tariff.

“Nigeria also seems to me to be one place in the world where you do not need an electricity tariff because if the tariff gets too high people can switch back to their generators and there is a corrective mechanism from too high energy prices.

“I bring this up because I look at all the preferred bidders or winners in Gencos and Discos and it struck me that I did not see a single one of them with genuine international financial partners. They all have good technical partners and they all have plans to raise money from Nigerian banks but I wonder looking at the quantum of money needed in the power sector, if the quantum of money can be raised locally without genuine international financial help.

“That is the question I do ask and am really concerned about it because power is very essential for this country. We need to know whether we should be setting types or be encouraging people that can generate, transmit and distribute power and then charge whatever they like because only in that I believe personally that we can get what is required.”

On how things are done in Nigeria, Chike-Obi said: “ When I came back to Nigeria from USA where I lived for many years, I was told this is how we do things and that I need to follow due process. This is how we do things and all that. Don’t bring your American attitude. We have to follow due process and transparency is the kind of word they use and all that.

“I used to tell them but these ways of doing things have not worked for this country. We have a massive bureaucracy called the Bureau of Public Procurement. You have to go through many things before you satisfy them. But do we need to go through all these things before we get things right? Our people are not concerned about results. This process of doing things has not helped us in many ways. It must be changed and we must be conscious of results Some Nigerians are not concerned about results. All they want is due process that does not produce any result and corruption keeps rising.

“ At AMCON, we need brand new computers which will cost $12 million and I was told we need to advertise to do this and that and it took us two years to get the computers because of due process. This is not good for this country.”
