Career / Re: Is It Right To Thank Your Boss After Receiving Your Salary? by sammieguze(m): 11:23am On Sep 29, 2020
dosage150:
Is it really necessary to thank your boss after paying (salary) you for job you did?

Yes.
It is very important.
More out of courtesy than respect.
If you ask your subordinate at work to get you a cup of coffee, simple courtesy makes you mumble your thanks even though s/he is doing his/her job.

That's how it works.
It's not all about servitude

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: State Civil Service Job Or Multinational Company Job? Which One Is Advisable? by sammieguze(m): 1:05pm On Sep 24, 2020
What exactly do you want in life in terms of future goals
Do you have any entrepreneurial skills or probability of wanting to start something of your own in the future?
Are you the type that s contented with living under the radar and risk aversed?
Are there other pecuniary benefits attached to the civil service job where you can make extra money?

If you are the goal getter/risk taker with great prospects who plan to actually make it big, kindly go for the multinational coy.
You get to work and meet great minded people who would provide solutions to a myriad of problems where you can benefit from. even if you are laid off due to whatever reason, you would still have great prospects at getting another job considering where(the organisation) you are coming from.

If however you are the unambitious type who just wants to take life as it comes or you probably just want to stay below the radar, go for the civil service job.

However, bear in mind that you can achieve what you would take you 18 years in civil service in just 10 years working with a multi national company.

Laslas, pray and ask God for dorection.

SeedofAbraham:
Good morning Nairalanders,

I've been having sleepless night recently as I've been confused in decision making due to the fact that I'm not well experienced about Job matters.

I presently got an offer at a State Public Service with GL 8 Salary Scale of 63k+ monthly (though it's poor) but with a rest assured constant Promotion every 3 years subject to success in Promotion Exercise. There's also hope that in the next 18 years, I'll get to the Directorate levels (GL 15 - 17) where the Pay Structure seems better with Jumbo rise compared to the poor salary structure of GL 7 - 14... Meaning that I'll have to endure till then before enjoyment start coming. Please note that in addition to Promotion every 3 years, this State Public Service don't owe workers salary as they pay in due time as we all know that Public Service has Job Security. Also, I hope by God's Grace that I become a Permanent Secretary if I decide to choose this path while enduring the Salary (I can switch to Federal Parastatals if the Job Offer comes up later though).

On the other hand, I'm about to get a Full time Staff offer from a Multinational Company (Headquarter is based in the US) with more than 120k Salary for a start. There's Career growth and the chance of living comfortably & enjoying life is cool compared to the State Public Service in terms of Salary. We all know that Private Organisations can decide to lay off workers at any time as there's no Job Security. Also, I don't know if Multinational Companies usually lay off only Contract Staff or they can decide to lay off Permanent Staff as well... Though, the Multinational Company have a Pension Scheme for their Staff & didn't lay off workers during this COVID-19 Pandemic as they were operating during the lockdown since they provide essential services.

I wasn't born & brought up with a Silver Spoon and I never pray to struggle in life henceforth as Poverty must die. I'm a Second Class Upper graduate with proven abilities and outstanding performance as I'm a Problem Solver.

I need the assistance of experienced Nairalanders as your advice and point of views with detailed explanations will be highly appreciated.

Hello everyone.

Straight to the point, I am trying to apply for a vacancy on the first bank portal and I came across this question.

It is a mandatory question so I must answer it before my application can be successful. However, several searches on Google has yielded no definite result.

Is anybody applying for it too?
How did you answer that?

I don't know if i'm the only one who has this.

But i always feel sick whenever i get into most cars. I always feel like throwing up and it has been a problem i've had right from childhood. I don't know what exactly causes it but it makes it difficult for me to travel by car because i get sick throughout the journey.

Has anybody experienced this?

Happens to me too. A lot. Especially when there s cheap fragrance/air freshener in the vehicle.
I think it is caused by CO2. not sure. the feeling gets better if you are able to manage to get a seat by the window so you have unlimited access to fresh air

dont be surprised to see them running for public office in the future
FrLukas:
"Repentant" Boko Haram terrorists.

So what happens to the crimes they've committed?

The children, the little girls they strapped bombs to?

The little girls they abducted, raped and impregnated?

What happens to Leah Sharibu now that we are rehabilitating terrorists?

How about innocent people they bombed and killed?

What of the soldiers who died in action just so that these men could be apprehended?

If Boko Haram terrorists can repent and be set free immediately, then all the prisoners in the country must be set free and allowed to go after undergoing a month program.

In case you aren't aware, Buhari and his handlers are totally mad.

So, a friend who has Bsc Accounting, Msc Industrial relations, no prior experience and no forthcoming job was asked this question.

In as much as i have given her a few ideas, i think its imperative to ask a wider audience.
As a person, given the reality on ground at the moment (the pandemic as well as economic downturn) being experienced all around, what will you do if given the offer?

NB: She has no technical skill be it sewing or sales.
I asked her to go for a professonal course (ICAN or CIPM) but again, what will be the guarantee of a job after the professional course.
Could have asked her to drop ship some fashion items but considering the fact that everybody is now into that coupled with the bastardization of the nigerian currency, i really dont know how that will work out in terms of profitability.

yes sir.

the snapdragon 439 on nokia 4.2 is much better than that.
and cheaper too.
plus, its gets security patches and OS upgrades compared to that umi.

in terms of aesthetics though, umi is looking more beautiful.
why use the same chipset for a5 pro and a7 pro sef?

they are at least 1 year apart.
read on the comparisms of both chipsets.

i think OP should go for 4.2 rather than 2.3.
its cheaper, better and more functional with fingerprint sensor

This reminds me of a family friend.

They also had this thought and decided to change their environment to a better neighborhood. This was a long time ago.

Initial rent was 40k/annum for a room and parlor self contain.
So they decided to go for 100k 2 bedroom flat in a nice neighborhood.

Initially, paying the rent was a struggle but they did it. Until they pack in and realized their mistake.

A little background.

Their initial apartment was a block of 2 self contained bungalow apartment where they share a meter and contribute 1000 per month as NEPA bill. It has a well in the compound that supplies water for every occupant.

The new apartment however is a fenced 4unit 2bedroom flat in a storey building with pipe borne water running into every flat and each flat having a meter of their own.

NEPA bill range from 3-5k per month.
4k per month being security charges
There 1k per month for water charges being payments for repair, maintainace of the pumping machine.
2 months down the line, the soak away got filled up and they were asked to pay 2k each for truck to come and pack the shit.

They didn't spend the next year in that house.

You dont get the point.

1st, among all contenders, who do you thing is really worthy to be voted for?
atiku? buhari?
in my opinion, none of them merit it.

2. assuming there is a sensible contender, do you think your vote really counts? really?
did u observe what happened in kano rerun election?
its one thing to vote. its another thing entirely for your vote to count.
take another case study from the activities that occur in Lagos during the election.

3. If you decide not to compromise on good candidate and governance, how can you influence others to be sensible as you.
how can you preach to a woman who is hungry not to collect 500 for vote?

I love this government.

Buhari has consistently proven to be a record-breaker.

Set a record in 1983 and he just broke his record to set a new record again as the most useless, unintelligent, and insensitive government ever.

We are heavily indebted already as it is and he is consistently seeking to increase our debt portfolio by the day and we have 3 more years to go.

Only GOD can save us o.

Fragility6:

U made sense but ur conclusion of God saving us nai vex me. See as nigerians stupid.Somebody wey fail 4 military regime, fail 4 common cattle bizness, fail for first tenure yet some idi*ts sets of people waka with dier God given brain still go vote for am. Lies upon lies upon lies.Just look were we dey 2day.Nothing works not even one thing u fit point out say e try do. God dey look us e no go do anytin

Guy, na GOD fit save us.

As it is, our leadership structure is flawed.
The gullible and illiterate are more than sensible ones.
Greed will make some people sell their whole village for a morsel of meal
The whole legislative and judiciary are in Buhari's pocket so don't even think of impeachment.
So, what hope does the common man have?
As it is, all hope is lost. or not considering we were in this sort of situation with Abacha in 1995 before God came through.

In retrospect, a nagging troublesome woman could be what drives a man to drink.

This could be because he is scared of coming home to face another world war.
As much as I can, I always say that it is important to look critically at both sides and pick the truths.

I know where you are coming from. I have been there and I can feel your plight.

Learn all you need to learn so you don't fall into the same trap
mikeybrainy:
For me I wouldn't try it, I can never marry someone like my mom. If I try that I would end up in an asylum.

She is a good mother, though not perfect (nobody is).

Some of my reasons are:

Nagging (like the neigbours can narrate everything happening in our house if asked to)
Involving strangers in family issues (like she says everything)

She can't ever take the blame for anything (blames everyone for her woes, and she is never wrong)

She wants to collect back every single penny she spends in the house (which is impossible)
Incites the children against their father (never realized this until I grew up and started thinking like a man, and honestly I'm sorry for all the ways I have acted to my dad, though my own is still fair, my siblings have complete disregard for their father)

Other things too that I can't mention here (makes me feel ashamed.

I realized all these when I started looking at everything from the lens of a struggling husband and father, and I'm still contemplating if marriage is worth it after all, I might as well stay single.... (I only date and break up with girls in my mind, Lol) cos I don't think its worth all the stress. Growing up in a broken, dysfunctional home is hard (sighs).

I wouldn't put all the blame on my Mom but I have resolved not to imbibe my dad's bad habits too (I can't even drink 1% alcohol not because I can't or it's bad, but I run away from it when I think of the things dad would have achieved, if he were not addicted to it)

Sorry for the long post.

Can you marry someone like your mom/dad?

This is the reason why I don't run to judge people who batter their wives. Like if he has defended himself and beat her now, she will run to social media and talk shit about her husband ignoring the fact that she was the abuser.

Abeg if the relationship is violent, leave it. Don't wait until they send your corpse to your people. And yes. men are sometimes victims of domestic violence

She most likely did this with a single cut to the face with a sharp cutlass while he was likely deep asleep. The reason...might just be he has been battering her all along like you wish. Stop supporting nonsense oga. Violence does not solve issues that require mental work. Use your head instead.

lmao.

I think you should be the one to use your head.
let's assume your assertion is right.
so, she used a single blow to inflict such damage on him, then called his mom to come to pick his dead body. no remorse, no sign of regret.

I don't seem to see the problem in this o.
Either a setup or not, all parties are ok with the way things are.

If you don't want it to happen again, simply call her friend and tell her you are not comfortable with having sex with her and control yourself.

whatever it is, I bet your wife knows whatsup all along and she knows what's bound to happen in the long run. she was privy to the matter even before it happens so just man up and forget the issue.

to continue or not to continue being a pawn in their chess-game is up to you. however, I would say man up and play your game as you deem fit. after all, you have equally stated how useful the lady herself is to you and your family so, carefully weigh the pros and the cons and chose wisely.

may the forces be with you
