You sound terrified. Trust me, its a good experience. You are Nigerian, and these things are what really make you one. Apart from the physical fortification exercises, you learn your local language, you learn about your society, you make connections, and you really get to study like hell; then all those foreign exams would be like childs play. Its pathetic for parents to let their kids live all their young lives abroad: and most of them get scared of their home. Boarding school is the best thing for you; whether you are bad or not. |
Well then, ROFLMAO!!!!! ![]() |
What happens in the boarding schools vary depending on the school's quality. You'll most likely be taken to a good private school, where the boarding school experience is not as horrid as usual. However, the principle permeates all boarding schools: If you have to hoe an hectare for a senior barely 3 months older than you, you wouldn't have problems working the vacuum at home for your folks. It really doesn't matter where you write the GCE; it just makes sense writing it in nigeria right after your studies. Just keep an open mind and try to make friends and have fun. You really don't want me to go into the details of the boarding schools I attended. |
bbc can go to hell |
why the hell is this in Senegalese news? and whos the girl from NY times? African countries have just recently, started concocting maligning stories about other african countries- saw a Gambian news site recently, and they were just propagating falsehood. Check your sources before you launch your tirades. I dont know, but i'll rather believe the nigerian police devils that those white journalists. . . |
no its not likely you do the GCEs back in England. You'll take the WAECs SSSCE (West African Examination Councils Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination) and NECO (Nigerian Examination Council) plus the GCE if you wish to go to the Uni in England, or the JAMBs UME (joint admissions matriculation boards University Matriculation Exam) for a Nigerian Uni. All those exams are bloody hard and comprehensive and its good to do all of them. They'll help you. Nigerian boarding schools have been proven to be panaceas for troublesome kids. Note: not because they give them love and respect, but because of hardcore discipline and lashes. Brace yourself. |
The relationship between culture and development in Nigeria's case is a lot more complex than that. Though it should be a good foundation for the rule of law, liberalism etc, its also frustrates democracy, equality (religion, gender, age, income distribution) collectivism. . .; where traditional gender roles, extreme societal echelon, and so on, deters 'development' in western standards (skyscrapers and asphalt roads). If only we could have defined development in our own terms then we would have known how to entwine our culture and diversity (which is only beautiful in sight, as its directly correlated with strife) with it. We'll get there; it'll only take time. |
Yep western influence. Im very grateful for my severe upbringing. Its just most unfortunate that these family values are not reflected when our government face ethical dilemmas, and when young boys get unlimited access to the internet. |
honeric01:I deem it success: that we've deviated from that topic. |
I think u quoted d wrong post |
Emerging and developing country. Well since i dont have verifiable facts, i have no stand. nice lips by d way. |
doyin13:I, I read that like 8 times, and finally got some comprehension of it. |
tallnaijaf:Il like to believe my position on this issue is favoured regarding your statement. |
The thing is, a hundred media houses can construe statistics as the like; antecedents prove they are mostly unbelievable. If cnn says Nigeria has 36 states today, I'l start questioning that fact. And nigerian parastatals can also cook up statistics to generate more fund allocation to loot. Not to say the problem in not in existence though. . . I just know people are not stacked up in hundreds cause of malaria in nigeria. |
I just read an article where upwards of 1million nigerian children die before 5 due to malaria, and 110million people are struck every year by the illness. ha ha |
