urs? cool

I became a pescetarian (fish eating vegetarian) about 6 months ago, it's not bad at all. You'll feel healthier, and fish really relaxes the craving for meats. Enjoy wink
Travel / Re: Visiting The Caribbeans by Sammy107d(m): 4:45am On Dec 31, 2009
I heard that side rocks  sad

Naijas don't need visas for short term visits, and they wouldn't give much trouble at the airport if you have a clear itinerary. You'll enjoy b'dos much more than rastaland if you're staying for about a week. It's is expensive as hell.

I just added you on YIM; you know how dem nairaland predators be  lipsrsealed

BBC just made an oddly reasonable report on the family's statement in Abuja, and the stance of Nigerians on the issue.

~Sauron~:

I need to see the face of the suspect. . . . . I am 110% sure he aint Nigerian.
He will prolly be a nucca from Iraq carrying a Naija passport.

He most likely isn't. If the media eventually discover his origin and change the story, albeit reluctantly, the damage is already done.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Man Attempts To Detonate Explosive On Delta Flight In US by Sammy107d(m): 4:04am On Dec 26, 2009
Crap this is now a headline on BBC. Dem folks emphasizing Nigeria, and Obama ordering tighter measures.

I agree that Eastern philosophy (including arab cultures) is at par with western thought, but what about african philosophy- is there actually anything like that?

I believe there is; but for cultural reasons, I think it can only be comprehended by Africans themselves.
Fashion / Please Vote For Glory Chuku Miss World by Sammy107d(m): 4:16pm On Dec 02, 2009
I apologize for putting this on the politics section. it's the most active

I saw different folks on facebook trying to gather votes for their candidates to win the miss world people's choice awards.

Please vote for Nigeria's Glory Chuku. She needs about 5000 votes to get all the way up; she only has one vote now (mine).

5000 from 435000 nairalanders shouldn't be a biggy. Let's help our own. We got the numbers. VOTE AWAY!

I'll appreciate this on the front page.

Politics / Re: Tribute To Nigerian Military In Pictures by Sammy107d(m): 12:32am On Dec 01, 2009
I think it's appropriate to mention this:

All the contents of this thread (and the Lagos and Abuja picture threads) have been copied pixel for pixel from our forum on skyscrapercity. People (including I) slave away daily trying to get these pictures and stories for our information and amusement; the least the poster can do is reference the author (mostly BEEG EAGLE and RODKOYE).

Apparently, BEEG EAGLE was on this thread, not to scream foul against the poster, but to correct some ignorance spewed by some misinformed citizens with his unmatched wealth of military knowledge. He was banned from nairaland immediately. . .

So much for the 'Thread of the year"  undecided

Politics / Re: Jonathan Is Now In Charge by Sammy107d(m): 9:49pm On Nov 27, 2009
mikeansy:

Folks I honestly do not see why a Jonathan Presidency promises anything different from that of Yar'adua, they are two of a kind. Let us all chill and be guided by the constitution at all times.

Jonathan's best traits is handling situations like this. The Jonathan I know will neither politic nor sought to get Yar'adua ousted. Given Nigeria's history and attitude of mistrust that exist I believe this quality will be very helpful to Jonathan at this time.

I don't see the FEC or NASS sacking Yar'adua on medical grounds. But one thing is for sure, if Yar'adua dies or resigns from office. There is no two ways about it. Jonathan Goodluck will be President and there will be nothing Sariki Mukhtar and co will be able to do about it.

However for the sake of negotiation and peace, PDP can reach an agreement that will see Yar'adua resign now to take care of his health while Jonathan finish up his term so that by 2011 a notherner can now run for the party to see off Yar'adua's second term after which power returns to the South.

I think we should be grown up about these things, this is 2009 Nigeria we are talking about not 1967. We have a National Constitution and whatever we do must while considering the political realities on ground respect the sanctity of our constitution.

No need for politics of who is up and who is down, otherwise we will have another catastrophe.

sounds good.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Is Now In Charge by Sammy107d(m): 9:04pm On Nov 27, 2009
I don't know why exactly, but I feel a sharp stab in my head at the thought of Jonathan entirely taking over state affairs.

Actually what happened was that the President was supposed to leave earlier in the day but because of the holidays in Saudi Arabia they couldn’t procure his visa in time.”

This yeye country, called NIGERIA

Nigeria President procure VISA.

when you dont develop your own country, why wont they make you 'PROCURE VISA' to come to their country.

This is exactly what Venezuela Amb was telling NIGERIA, when he visited this Madam rebrand-Nigeria!

I can't believe you actually believed crap like this when you heard it. . . You even typed "actually" undecided

Good one man. But I have 2 simple questions for our military.

1. When are we going to start building our own military machines.
2. Are the military now rid of the politically minded individuals and groups amongst them.

The most basic trainer jets in the Nigerian Air force (the beetles), light weapons (AKs and rocket launchers), personnel carriers, and military uniforms are made in Nigeria. Sophisticated air and  amphibious equipment are already maintained and refurbished in the country. Advance weapon production capacity is being improved upon daily.

People need to give up their default cynical mindset.
