Ofunaofu:

First and foremost Tinubu did not win 34 state. This settles it because I know where you are coming from as his supporters

The fact remains that Tinubu did not meet the 25% requirement in the FCT Abuja, and shouldn't have been declared the winner

To your question,

If a candidate can be so popular to win 34 States, he will comfortably get 25% in the FCT Abuja because his popularity would have rob off on the people living in the FCT Abuja, aliens are not living in the FCT

You are arguing like an slowpoke, even if Peter Obi hire 200 SANs there is nothing they can do about special status they want to accord the FCT, by doing that you are in essence telling us that in the next presidential election the candidates should just stay in abuja and be campaigning there, since the other 36 States are less important, which is a very bad precedent, so it is only just, fair and sensible to swear in the president elect Messr Tinubu on may 29

"This then begets the question: is it just, reasonable and sensible to argue that a candidate who, for instance, won 36 States of the Federation and also polled the highest number of votes cast at an election but failed to score 25% of the votes cast in FCT, Abuja cannot be deemed the winner of the election? I think not. That would not be just, reasonable and sensible."

This argument doesn't hold water, infact it is a very silly argument and can only come from the camp of the APC who are at the moment caught up with the law.

If someone can be so popular to the extent of winning the entire 36 state, getting 25% in the FCT Abuja shouldn't be difficult because those who live in FCT Abuja are Nigerians who should be in tune with the popularity of the said candidate

You are a liar, I don't know your level of education or your knowledge of international politics, but you should know that the world over it is always difficult for a ruling party to win the state capital of their county because of the cosmopolitan nature and number of elites there, most state capitals are always leaning towards the left, so no constitution will demand a political party or a presidential candidate must win it's capital before being declared a winner of a presidential election, I doubt much

Why are you people so much dwelling on this court issues, when the court declared Hope Ozidimma as governor you keep referring to him as supreme court governor, we have elected a president, you said no the court should declare another person as President, so in essence we should not be holding election again in the future, parties should be submitting the names of their candidates to the supreme court for final selection

odoemelamemmanu:
10th NASS: Why APC Should Zone Senate President to Southeast – Ohikere

By Ameer Obansa

Former Kogi state information commissioner, Tom Ohikere has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the Senate Presidency to the Southeast in the interest of fairness and stability of the incoming dispensation and also for unity in the APC.

Ohikere made the assertion while speaking to select journalists in Lokoja, Kogi state on the sidelines of the March 18, state assembly elections.

According to Ohikere, no ethno – religious or geo-political region has a monopoly of any political party and that permutations and political outcomes are usually the results of strategic negotiations and concessions.

He said the political scene is ever dynamic and constantly changing and success for a political party involves the ability to carry all factions along amicably.

Ohikere said, “The Southeast have an indignation towards the APC government over alleged marginalization. Politics is dynamic game and the balance of yesterday, cannot stand the realities of today. That is the push and pull of today.

“The outgoing dispensation witnessed other regions like the northwest, the Southwest, Northeast, North central and even the South – South playing visible roles in the executive and legislative powers of government, the southeast from which emerges one of the major three tribes of the country has been conspicuously absent much to their consternation. Even though many in the APC are blaming it on their non-acceptance of the party. But it is simple, if you want the region to accept you then you should act favourable or more persuasively towards it, and I believe that is what the Buhari’s government has been doing in the latter part of the administration with the various visit to the region.

Ohikere added that the southeast APC have proven their worth in the general election against palpable odds, even clinching some senatorial seats in the southeast and southsouth states, such as Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Edo and Cross Rivers state.

Ohikere who is also the chairman of the APC Broom Platform said the current chief whip of the National Assembly, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has paid his dues towards the upliftment, stability and successes of the party and hence is more qualified than any other elected politician to be the next president of the senate.

“With the changing of the guard, the shift in balance and the evolving clarity of perception will no doubt lead to new alliances and permutations from both within our party and on the general political level. Zoning and rotation for balance has always been central to our political calculus especially in such a period of crucial decision making.

“Despite the denials and apologies of the APC leadership, the Southeast APC has been growing steadily and parading prominent names, including former governor Orji Uzor Kalu. Kalu who is currently the chief whip of the national assembly has shown himself unquestionably loyal to the APC in its vision for a better Nigeria. Hence the clamour within the APC for him to occupy such a position, Ohikere stated

https://osunreporters.com/2023/03/10th-nass-why-apc-should-zone-senate-president-to-southeast-ohikere/

Wrong advice, how many senators is APC having from the south east, how many governors from that zone, the Senate President is too big a post to give to a region that outrightly rejected your party, I still believe that the Senate presidency should go to the north central, but for the purpose of inclusive government the speaker of H o R should be zoned to the south east

If LP gets a significant amount of governors to win in today's election let's say 10-20 states, that would help in the pursuit of justice for the rascality and theft that happened in the presidential election.

If that happens, all the LP governors will come together to make cases against both inec, fg, Constitution, and the judiciary for justice to prevail, which will fasten the whole process for Peter obi to be pronounced the rightful winner of the 2023 presidential election.

So dear Obidients, lets go out to vote LP all through in this election, don't forget to snap the sheets for evidence.

Rebuke:
In a statement issued by its General Counsel, W. Bruce DelValle, NADECO, USA has initiated a worldwide call to action among international communities, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to demonstrate evidence that the results announced for the presidential election held on February 25th comply with the existing laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Article 25 of the International Human Rights Act. Bruce has emphasized that it is crucial for the international community to focus on the Nigerian Judiciary if it fails to take appropriate action.

He highlights the importance of upholding international law and human rights, specifically Article 25 of the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights, which was adopted in 1966 and became law in 1976. This treaty was signed by both the United States and Nigeria, and in the United States, when a treaty is signed, it becomes the law of the land. As such, the United States and Nigeria have a legal obligation to comply with Article 25, which guarantees citizens the right to vote and to participate in the government of their country.

However, there has been a violation of this law in Nigeria, leading NADECO, USA to call for action. He notes that Nigeria has descended into a "cryptocracy" with no due process, fundamental fairness, or respect for human rights. Despite promises by INEC to conduct a free and fair election, the recent presidential election was marred by violations of the law and lack of transparency.
It is therefore important for the international community to pay attention to Nigeria and support efforts to promote democracy and respect for the rule of law.

NADECO, USA is taking action to ensure that the results of the presidential election are in conformity with the extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and international human rights law, and to hold INEC accountable for any violations of the law.

I Will Congratulate President-elect When Court Proves INEC Result - Peterside

A foremost economist and founder of Anap Foundation, Atedo Peterside, has said that he will congratulate the winner of the 2023 presidential election when the court proves that the results were correctly uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He said this in an interview with Arise Television on Wednesday.

Peterside went on to say that the results uploaded by the INEC during the presidential election are an insult to anyone’s intelligence.

He said, “If they go through this process and the judges convince us everything was done correctly and we adopt the numbers, whoever is the winner, I will congratulate the person.

“But for now it is premature. When I can see with my own eyes what INEC has uploaded, it is an insult to everybody’s intelligence; it is premature. People who are rushing to congratulate him have not taken the trouble to even look at the available information or the evidence.”

US President, Biden, Other World Leaders Yet To Congratulate Tinubu Two Weeks After ‘Winning’ Presidential Election
March 14, 2023
NEWS
This is coming as the election was widely allegedly acclaimed to be poorly conducted and rigged in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

World leaders including the United States President, Joe Biden, have not yet put a call across to President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who was declared of Nigeria’s February 25 presidential election.

This is coming as the election was widely allegedly acclaimed to be poorly conducted and rigged in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
In contrast to Buhari’s election victory in April 2015, Tinubu is yet to receive an official congratulation from world leaders including the US President weeks after being declared a winner.

On April 1, 2015, the then French President, François Hollande, the then United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and the then US President, Barack Obama were among the dignitaries who extended their congrats to Buhari.

Hollande had also showed appreciation for the commitment of the Nigerian people and the professionalism exhibited by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the polls.

In his statement issued then on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, Ban Ki-Moon congratulated Buhari on his hard won victory and praised INEC for organising the elections in a professional and credible “manner under challenging circumstances.”

“The INEC, the domestic and foreign observers, civil society, the political parties and above all the Nigerian people themselves. They have shown how a democracy can work; I warmly congratulate Gen. Buhari as the successful Presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC),”then European Union (EU) High Representative/Vice-President, Federica Mogherini had also said.

But for Tinubu, notable world leaders have kept quiet for days running into weeks amid several domestic calls to re-examine the process and court cases.

SaharaReporters reports that although the US government sent a congratulations message to Tinubu days after the INEC announcement, some civic groups had berated the US government, saying it “hurriedly congratulated Tinubu despite his fraudulent victory because the US plans to use him as a stooge for the next four years.”

SaharaReporters had on March 8 Chatham House, an independent policy institute based in London, in an analysis by one of its fellows said the February 25 presidential election showed that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC failed to learn new lessons.

The London-based institute had stressed that the electoral umpire failed to adhere to its own guidelines, which it enunciated before the poll, especially the one bordering on the uploading of results in real-time.

“The INEC’s performance and controversies over these results mean that the electoral reforms and lessons declared to have been learned were not fully applied and, as an electoral body, it was significantly less prepared than it claimed.

“The logistical failures of INEC and widespread delayed opening of polling units meant that voters who showed up at the polls early were frustrated and many voters and INEC staff were not able to locate their polling units for several hours,” Chatham House had stated.

The commission’s patchy deployment of technology in the use of a Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), Chatham House added, still being intensely scrutinised and criticised.

Several senior lawyers have continued to insist that declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the last presidential election was done in clear breach of the constitution which states that a candidate must achieve a minimum of 25% votes in 24 states AND FCT.

APC candidate Mr. Tinubu notably failed woefully in the federal capital achieving less than 20% of votes cast, an indicator that residents of FCT do not want to see Mr. Tinubu anywhere near FCT let alone Aso Rock. Mr. Tinubu also lost in Nigeria's former federal capital Lagos. As federal capital and the former federal capital, the FCT and Lagos represent the melting point for all Nigerians, and the rejection of Mr. Tinubu by both is generally seen as indicative that Nigerians do not really want Tinubu as their president
